Firstly thanks for anyone who can give any help here!
I have well over 120 orks to paint and want to use an airbrush to get most of the heavy lifting done, although willing to spend more time with brush highlights too and extra time on characters. I want to use the standard eavy metal paints choices (I've got these paints already). I'm just wondering the best way to go about using the airbrush to get the most out of adding some depth/shading to their skin and clothing. These will all be for gaming.
My idea right now is something like...
Skin:
- Airbrush Base Coat
- Airbrush Under model with Basecoat + Darker green
- Wash skin with diluted contrast paint for recess shading
- Airbrush soft highlight, very light PSI
- Maybe brush highlights, especially for fleshy bits/face
I'm unsure if I should reverse 3/4. Unsure if under spraying with just the contrast.
Clothing
- Cover up skin with some flexible putty I have
- Airbrush base coat
- Wash with contrast paint
- Airbrush base coat again for a highlight
- Airbrush brighter colour (maybe)
- brush markings of the lines on the trousers
Am I on the right track? I know I'll need some practice and testing but want to do my best to not just look totally airbrushed. I am also unsure regarding the order of the stages. I will also do some type of varnish at the end too. Cheers!
