This is the most difficult mini I think I ever gave feedback to
Not because it is particulary good or particulary bad, but because it is so different to everything else you normally see. You have a very unique style which I personally enjoy a lot. I cant point my finger to it, but it is quite unique and my eyes want to look at it, if that makes sense.
The color choices you make are incredibly good, in my very personal opinion!
What you are lacking are some basic things, which most beginners/intermediates seem to mess up.
Mainly what I recognize is:
There are a lot of things which are not painted clean.
The highlighting of many volumes is off.
Things like these should be cleaned up
here the lighting looks weird, this would only make sense if the light comes from below, but it wouldnt match with the rest, so it doesnt work
Also what can be improved a lot is the pistol. It looks more or less exactly like the bags. It should look like a pistol instead 😉
The bolter also lacks some work. It just is one big black thing. Putting some effort into it would be nice.
But yea, overall I really like the piece!
Thank you very much for the feed back. You've really helped me
If you've had time to reflect is ask for you help by using a few words to describe my style.
Painting for 3 years now and feel I really just broke through to a new level
I really cant find proper adjectives
Unconventional definitely
But yea the normal advice i would give most painters is something like edge highlights, proper coats, cleanliness, strict volumetric highlights, and so on.
But i feel this would be the wrong direction for you
Better painters than me need to give advice i guess
I got no critique, just really like the style and the color choices. As a newer painter, I was just curious why you kept the gun a pretty dark color/didnt add much contrast?
I do not like to paint gun
It is something for me to work on
