I'm trying to paint Dark Angels using "Angel Green" from army painter. I was trying to use the Dark Angel Green citadel contrast paint and it didn't work out that well. It was patchy and I could see brush strokes after one layer. I didn't do more than one coat though. The army painter was much worse, really thin and stuff.

Advice?

You need to post pictures to get advice beyond "Thin your paint more, let it dry fully between layers"

Which bottle do you have? If it's not the Fanatic version with the black background then you have the old discontinued paint which unfortunately is horrible.

Are you aware of the different requirements for working with Contrast paint vs opaque acrylics? Specifically that the Contrast needs a white or very bright prime and needs to be applied in a slighty different manor. If not, then I recommend looking up some videos on the subject, it's two very different approaches between the two paints you're switching between.

That shouldn’t be “really thin” at all then.

Fanatic paints do have a tendency to break down completely with just a touch of water, but can also be used neat, if you don’t overwork it while drying.

If it does come out of the bottle very liquid, try shaking it much more. If that doesn’t fix it, get some photos (maybe see if you can borrow a phone or tablet from someone) and post them here and it’ll be easier to judge.
