#Gepetto, paint journal by the hour
28 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hour1: priming and first crack at face
Hour 2: color blocking, followed by some initial crack at detail
Hour 3: blocked out color roughly on the rest of the mini. Will paint cat and toolbelt stuff next
Another hour in. Hour 4 done. Feels like it’s all slowing down a bit. Time to pick up pace
Hour 5, did some general polish. Feels like maybe another 5 hours will get it done idk
Hour six.
10 hour mark. Hard to spot difference now but lots of stuff fixed
Finished, prolly 13 hours in total. Fun sculpt.
13h is fridgin fast. Congrats! They look really nice by me.
Cool piece.
I'm always curious, what do you do w a mini like this? Does it sit on a shelf with others, on your work desk, or glue on something you use every day?
Don’t really want shelves full of stuff in my house
I plan to do this once my shelves fill up, but do people care about it being an incredible paintjob or will they accept anything that looks semi-decent at a glance? 😆
It depends a bit. If it’s gaming minis everyone will just be grateful regardless of how ocd the paintjob is
Display stuff like busts and larger models is a bit trickier unless it’s reasonably high quality
Fair enough. I think the biggest I've done is ~75mm and I mostly do fantasy/DnD themed things, so I expect the gamers would be more likely my "customers"
Easy wins then
Obvs I'm going to do my best on each one, but I'm still learning, ultimately. 😂
