Hello everybody! My name is Cat and I'm looking to get into Mini-painting... but in a slightly weird way.
You see one of my local shops has a lot of Heroclix for sale, and I thought that repainting these figures would be a create way to create a lot of unique minis for D&D, especially if I used a lot of the more generic or obsucre ones (such as the Lex Corp Battlesuit Figure)

The thing is... I have never done mini-painting before in my life, let alone either painting over an already existing color palette or stripping paint to make a figure blank. And every guide I find is either about painting OR stripping (with the idea that you already know how to paint). So finding a starting point has been a bit rough.

If anyone has any good guides for this purpose or any advice, please let me know.

[TL;DR What paints should a beginner buy who is looking to strip and repaint figures, and what would they need to strip the paint OR apply paint that completely covers old paint]

My recommendation would be not to strip. Stripping has its own fuss involved, and you can instead apply a thin layer of primer over the miniatures and start from scratch. As for which paints to buy, there are so many options.

Any newer paints from a popular manufacturer like Vallejo, Pro Acryl, Army Painter, AK, etc will be great as long as they're made for miniatures

But yeah, no need to strip usually, just apply some primer, airbrush is ideal, but spray cans work just fine, and paint over

(And like a 0.1 color difference)

Uh i think it's just newer vs older? I'm honestly not sure but I can tell you both of those will work through an airbrush for what you want. Now, do you have an airbrush?

It will, but there's brush-on primer that's more built for that purpose. That stuff should work too, but if you're brushing on, I believe people recommend Monument Hobbies brush on primer for thar
