Thanks Psykka
Yes, thank you

I wasn't considering this, but then I remembered the green that came with my first painting kit that has such a terrible coverage I barely use
Time to use it a bit more I guess
A little late for the organization. But mind if I join in? I got a box of Khimera paints for christmas last year I haven't used (outside of The Red) and figure this might be a good opportunity
No one's started yet so I'm sure that's cool
So is this like a "ban list" style where we pick x number of paints we always use and can't use them, or do we pick x number of paints we never use and use only them?
The goal is to use primarily the seldom used paints. I'm sure there are things you can't escape like metallics, but otherwise use as little of your main roster as possible.
I'll have to find a base for the boy, but here's what I'll try to use to paint him up
I’m thinking about these color shift paints I bought when they first came out. I bought 2 sets and rarely use them. I just have to decide on the mini
Alright, good to go.
Colorshift paints require a black background to show up. I have this mostly back eagle I have been working on; would it count for this PAL?
I have added the colorshift paints. I might need to add more.
Going to do one of these in garish bright and neon colours
Ok done, but I may do another one, I wanted to go brighter but the eagle is supposed to be mostly black and I used the colorshift as highlights. So I am not sure this should count. I used the Toxic Purple, Evil Forest, Borealis Green, and Celestial Azure.
Looks good, though I'll admit that the colorshifts don't show up much in the photos (which makes sense as they use light refraction)
@tardy pier yeah, I agree. They show up better if I put them on thicker, but I was wanting iridescent highlights
Haven't decided on the palette yet, but I'll use this mini for it
Starting with my ionic paints i havent try yet. I will do one of these. I havent decided yet which one
So finally actually starting, trying to see if this hooded guy can look not insane with this pallete 😆
Unsure if I'm going to use the AK Quick Gen, which I've only used a handful of but are still quite similar to the contrasts I regularly use, or give my Ultracyl a go when I get around to this.
Here will do my black widow
Here finished with the paints that had never used before
Also a close picture of my black widow
Ok so I think this is as far as I can push it with just the unloved paints. They're all too bright and I need shadowssss so I'll add a much needed brown shade and then return to highlight just with the unused pallete
Done! This was a good experiment as I am TRASHING 3 OF THOSE PAINTS
They're so dryyy
it is makes you feel better, I'm considering doing the same. I have a few paints on the shelf that are barely touched, and some are showing their age
yeah, having to use them made me realize they're not good anymore
may i join ere?
That's such a funny outcome from this
"What i learned is these suck"
"there was a reason I didn't like these, but out of stubborness refused to throw them out because I spent money on it."
^my thoughts
making limited progress
Okay getting started for real. Limited palette and all paints in my collection I've barely touched
I'm struggling a little with this skin tone breaking up and not doing an even layer. but the rest is fun.
I'm mostly hiding my disliked tones with washes (to mute the brightness that i dislike). Will see if it works at the end
I’m going to go back and add more color shift paint because they aren’t bright enough
I added more of the color shift paints today, I am happier with the results
looks much shinier
Got the base to do, but calling this one done. Don't like how bright the colours are, and feel like I need to mute them more
And the rest of the squad
Calling this lady done. I think combining limited palette with seldom used was maybe a little too restrictive, but i learned a few things. Some of these paints will probably stay seldom used though
doing a board pattern with seldom-used was a bold choice. I would have failed miserably (and struggled with the ones I did with large surfaces). Good work!
