Here I post my ongoing sternguard veteran. I'd be glad to get some criticism so I can improve and some guidelines for the lightning. I tried few times edge highlighting and it was an absolute disaster, they didn't look well. Also I only like giving "realistic" lights supposing a zenital light source. The last pic is a modified one where I simulated the light source and exaggerated how it would impact on the colours.

Hey. I am an amateur, but one thing I can tell you, is that you need to get a picture with a bit less light. I'd suggest just propping up two white sheets of paper like an L as your background.
Apart from that, you said you had problems edge-highlighting and while Im not the best at it either, do you know how to angle the brush 45° when edge-highlighting?
