#Cockpits/Visors (and slapchop)

There are 2 questions relevant to the Title and 1 more that is paint related, I just figured was unnecessary to make another post for. Any other painting tips are always welcome too, as I am trying to learn as much as I can.

1: How to paint a Cockpit: May I ask how to effectively paint a cockpit/visor. I plan to paint some mechs for battletech, though I have no clue on how to make a nice looking visor.

2: Visor color: I'm not the best with color art schemes and all that, so I wanted to ask for suggestions on what visor color would compliment/look best with the paint scheme of the mech (I have provided an example image of what the mech would generally look like).

3: Slapchop: Yes? No? a mate of mine was telling me how he slapchops his battletech mechs, and that he'd advise it for beginners, though I dont really know anything about it beyond what it is and how to do it. Wasn't sure if slapchop is just the greyscale kinda color, or is slapchop is a solid way to set up the priming with the highlights n stuff.

Have a good day.

I did these sketches real quick as examples of jeweling. For the visor color one idea is to simply take the color on the opposite side of the color wheel of your base color and see what that looks like, or try something 90-120° away which are adjacent colors. As for slapchop, its just something that entirely depends on the speed at which you want to paint your models and how many you have to paint. The main idea is that with a large amount of models that would all individually take a long time to basecoat -> wash -> highlight, you can assembly line the basecoat -> wash phase much more quickly because you zenithal highlight all the models at the same time and contrast paints and inks help that undercoat show through. It's not really a "beginner" technique in that you progress to painting in a more advanced way later, it's just a way to speed up painting. Its most commonly marketed that way now since it's pretty easy to understand and apply, and Warhammer is the most common audience where you have a ton of models to paint and its much more effective time wise than the other methods.

Did some cross checking, and I think Im going to plan for a kinda "synthwave horizon" kinda color for the visor. I think it will match the purple nicely, though I may tone is down a bit darker or I guess kinda like a pink highlighter with a bit more red and darkness in it to help match the white more. Most likely similar to the 3rd option you generated with a bit of the 2nd mixed. I like the green idea as its kinda like a marik accent color, though I think it could provide a bit too much clutter after the barrels are also painted up, though the green may match the barrel glow a bit better, since my plan is to start with 1 of each mech class being Locust, Wolverine, Archer, Awesome, inwhich the locust has the greenish medium laser, same as the archer and Wolverine, with the Awesome having a bluey-purple PPC. Thanks for helping me out and going out of your way to even make concept colors. Ill lyk on any updates.

On another note, may I ask how to setup these types of channels? I have a server for myself which is basically abuncha notes and I think this type of channel structure would be useful for it.

Hey, camospecs calls for VMC Violet, though I couldnt find any at any of the stores I stopped by. Any advice on either finding it or getting an equivalent? I do have VMC Purple which is kinda close. This is a link to Camospecs which specifies the paints and there equivalents: https://camospecs.com/factions/free-worlds-league/house-colors-free-worlds-league/. Under then i've checked for VMC, VGC, and Citadels with no luck, I did see that there is a Warhammer store nearby, so I may stop in there later to see if I can pickup citadel in person.
