#A better airbrush primer

I've been using stynylrez primer for going on 2 years now, and while I really like the finish and colors of it, as well as how it performs with a brush, it seems to clog my airbrush pretty regularly.

so as it stands, I'm looking for an acrylic primer in at least black, white, grey that performs a bit better through the airbrush.

Or, if that's not possible, some secret sauce to make stynylrez primer perform better through an airbrush.

For extra context, yes I've set my airbrush setting correctly and thinned correctly as well, it's just this primer that's been causing consistent clogging, not normal paints or other fluids.

I'm also not interested in enamel primers as I don't have the means to have spray and deal with toxic fumes at this time.

I use this and I’ve never had a clog. it may be partially due to using a high quality airbrush (HS infinity cult of paint, variable gauge needle) but some people have experienced issues with infinity so maybe it is indeed the primer being great

I generally use, like, a more budget oriented airbush but to my knowledge it's not a garbage one at least. I use a badger 105 patriot

anybody got experience with molotow?

I hear good things about them

Monument stuff is peak for acrylics primer imo.

#

But you need to let it cure for ~24h or it's very fragile

#

But, tbh, I've never had a clog with either Stylenrez or monument except for white and then I just blast it out usually

but I'll have to remember these recommendations

Bit on the glossy side but that doesn’t bother me.

would you pick molotow over vallejo, or monument primer?

Have not tried monument so couldn’t say.

#

I have tried AK and Vallejo and I prefer Molotow to both of those by a wide margin.

🤔 think is quite interesting, and good to know

I use like 40psi on my compressor when spraying it

where a particular line up from them you use as a primer?

#

is it the one4all?

thorn summit
#

Yeah the one4all refill or something like that.

#

This one

aight

I think when I order new primer I'll try it

40 psi with One4All?
I'm using it at 20 only, with both my 0.5 and 0.35 airbrushes. It's so thin it doesn't take much to get a good spray.

Their gloss black is far better than any gloss black primer I tried.

Monument Pro Acryl.

I don't like Vallejo bc it's not sandable if you miss a mold line, and sticks to metal horrible.
My partner doesn't like Molotow because if you do a reductive paint like enamel wash, there isn't enough adherence.

If your stynlrez bottle is older or been sitting around, it may need strained to remove clots. But switching primers is easier.

Agree with what Jatbi said, I find I need to strain my Stynylrez if it gets old.
