Airbrush is probably clogged. Take it apart and clean everything, there are plenty of videos on how to do that on yt
found some in the nozzle
and now again
how can i prevent this i follow what they say on yt
🤔 what primer did you run through it? ... and ... are you using 'wet' water to thin your paint?
also, are you mixing in the airbrush cup?
Just check stuff on yt yea
Are you not supposed to do that?
I’ve been doing that for like 2 years
What brand of paints are you using? For some brand you can go to 4 thinner/1 paint to get to the right consistency.
And I wouldn't recommend thinning with water only.
i ran no primer to it. used spray can, will do it tho. wdym with wet water? i just use tap water
vallejo
also its a cheap airbrush and i think it actually broke💀 the nozzle and the connection of the airbrush dont clicktogether anymore. its like there is rust in it
wich is weird bcs i unscrewed and screwed it back on this session, and when i wanted to clean it it couldnt screw back on":(
Old Vallejo Model colours (transluscent bottle and white cap) is one of the brands/range that needs more thinning.
For these, as I said, it's usually 4:1.
Alright
so now that my airbrush is broken do you know a good step up?
what are your thoughts on this one?
The Neo is too expensive for what it is. It's barely better than the cheap one you got but triple the price.
As beginner airbrush in the same price range but good quality would be the Harder & Steenbeck Ultra.
But if you really want to step up I would recommend the Iwata HP-CS. I got one, many people here got one. It's not cheap but definitely worth its price.
I'd try thinning with airbrush thinner, I've never used water, I don't think that would work for the airbrush? Can't recommend. Also airbrush cleaner between each paint EVERY TIME, and make sure to remove the needle and clean it with kitchen towels with airbrush cleaner, and use cotton buds with airbrush cleaner for popping through the openings inside the airbrush. Disassemble the airbrush and make sure no paint is in there, that's essential for your own piece of mind, so you know your cleaning has been effective and you didn't waste your time, but do NOT soak it in cleanser, you'll F up the thing! 😂
Final thing, experiment with different compressor pressure settings, you might have the pressure too low. I tend to test EVERY paint I mix in the little pot with different pressure settings just to make sure it's flowing the way I want.
Now as to airbrush, I have a Harder & Steenbeck and a CheapAsChips knockoff thingy, and my experience, the cheap thing is less likely to clog, and while you can't easily do fine detail spraying like eyes and edges and effects, for skin and good blending, it's actually perfect. They are, by definition, a beginner airbrush, but the quality is still incredibly high in most of these things. Spend low, and buy a new, fancy one later once you master the cheapie.
Hope that all helps. Make sure you're doing it in a well-ventilated area or using an extractor! Also use a full face mask, an FFP3 mask, you need that to....you know....live. It's really serious so take it seriously, safety first comrade! ✊😁
it can be hit and miss, especially based on the type of brush ... depending on the paint and thinner, sometimes you can get a shot of not properly mixed paint go through and block things up ... it may sound pedantic, but mixing outside the cup will ensure an even mix and allows you to adjust the consistency easier ...
wet water has a little surfactanct in it to break surface tension ... tap water can be sketchy depending upon your supply because of impurities ... try rain water instead ... into 1 litre of water add 3 drops of dish washing liquid = wet water ...
I have shelved all my other brushes for this ... it is FANTASTIC! ... easy to use, easy to clean, great results ... except for the unit badge, petrol, and first aid decal, all was painted with this brush
"Sparmax SP.020 Dual Action Gravity Fed Airbrush"
Thanks for the tips!!! i do it in my garage withouth a extractor so a maks is maybe handy
damn you painted that airplane?? looks sick
Alright ill not look in that one further then
Definitely man, stay safe, it's really important, your lungs and skin and body in general, some damage can't be undone, so take precautions 👍👍
Post up something you paint with your airbrush if you're willing, would love to see
yup, I used lots of masking tape and lacquer, because of the insta-dry properties 😸
Filter your paint. Dont mix in the cup. If it keeps happening dried paint sometimes falls back into the mix, so try filtering the paint. Mixing outside the cup gives you a chance to see contaminants before you pour in the cup. Also, proper cleaning between paints. A squeese bottle is good for flushing the cup between loads. Dont let paint in the cup dry, in other words, dont run it to empty. Or it will dry on the inside
Ofcourse!!
damn yeh thats what happend with my broken one now, lot of dried paint in the cup, but how can i prevent that when i only need to use a little bit of that colour? You only need a squeese bottle with water right? i have that
Stainless steel mixing cups. Due to the properties of it and the ones from the paint, you will lose only a minimal quantity
Does the H&S Ultra also have a stainless steel cup?
As far as I know a lot of the airbrush parts are made from brass then nickel (or in luxurious version, chrome) plated. The needle is steel, and maybe all the trigger mechanism.
I use the sauce pots from chinese take-aways ... 😸 ... but I'm a cheap bastard
