What products are brush soap / conditioner for paint brushes? I haven't been able to find an answer.

On the minipainting subreddit I've seen mention that you shouldn't hang your brushes upside down to keep their life because capillary action resists gravity, but that proper brush soap / conditioner is all you need, however said posts just say 'brush soap / conditioner' and don't actually say what that is in practical buyable terms.

What is it and where do I get some? I do have a jar of this brush cleaner and preserver that I use, is this both 'brush soap / conditioner' or is it something else?

This is fine

#

Just let the brushes dry horizontal no worries

Are you saying im good to go continuing to use that product? Does that mean it is brush soap / conditioner?

This is what a lot of us use.

There's another thing for if you're bristles are out of shape. But this is great for cleaning.

Yeah I have found it super useful, I just wanted to make sure I was maintaining my brushes properly. I was looking to buy an upside down brush holder is where I first learned of the existence of soap/conditioner specfically for brushes 🤔

Just twist the bristles as you run it through to help reinforce the shape

Will do

dense imp

Yeah the general recommendation is let it dry flat then you can put it back on your rack bristles up

You really don't need to "twist"

I have seen rinsing pots with special holders for the bristles down while they're immersed

You can actually fuck a brush up trying to do that too aggressively

dense imp
#

Oh have I been doing it wrong?

Just gently reshape it with your finger tips after

dense imp
#

Well sorry for giving bad advice thanks for catching me

lost bay
#

I usually use a touch of lather to reshape it

#

And then it dries with some conditioner in it

leaden rover
#

In this context what is lather?

dense imp
#

I can swear I was told to twist but I'll stop now

leaden rover

Like I am trying to determine what is brush conditioner / soap, even googling it there's too much hair results or other results

Lather is like the foamy stuff you work up with soap

leaden rover
#

Okay so like work up a lather of the brush cleaner I have 🤔

There's loads of videos out there on using that soap btw

"shape the brush with leftover soap still ON and LEAVE IT."

#

I was washing it off before leaving it, ill try doing this more 🤔
