Figuring out some colors in oils, plus white.
Only 19 more models to go. Lol.
These are going to take forever haha.
To talk about my base layer, I worked my way from top to bottom using blue, then magenta, then red, to reddish orange, then bright ivory very light. I used the paint with its ink counterpart to keep colors saturated.
Terra Rosa pulling the heaviest of the skin tone load with Naples orange and white for highlights. Some Terra Rosa back on top to prevent desaturation with the white.
The base is going to be pigments. After the test model, I see I want to wait for the oils to dry before using pigments.
Soft pastels serve as my dry pigments
Loving these. Really happy how this scheme is turning out but these 9 were TEDIOUS! Still going at a good pace, but the next 11 are going to be rough.
Definitely bittersweet too because these marauders have never been good on the table, haha. A pretty unit to sit on the shelf.
Looking good! I really like the colors on the shields.
10 are done with phase 1. I want to go back over these and do the last red parts. I didn't have any red on my pallette at the time. The remaining 10 are going to be much lower effort.
Going to do the wilderfiend next as a pallette cleanse.
I really, really like the purples and blues. Any interesting observations while working within this palette?
thank you, im glad you like it. im just really impressed at how the undercoat seemed to compliment everything so nicely. i think i just got lucky.
Yea lovely undercoat, how did you do the steps for it?
(using airbrush and the paints i took a pic of above) I worked my way from top to bottom using blue, then magenta, then red, to reddish orange, then bright ivory very light. I used the paint with its ink counterpart to keep colors saturated
also, thank you

Base coat with green and blue!
I've been so busy with this kit. Really bummed that they are garbage on the table.
I'm going for visual punch on the table top, high contrast.
Upgraded my photog setup.
i didnt realize until i took the pics that i guess i handled it too much while it was still drying and i wiped the red off some of the spine tips
but this was zorn pallete for extra internet points @waxen ruin
zorn except for the pigments in the base, actually. orange isnt zorn enough.
Ferang's Slaves to Darkness Goodness (new titles!)
i wanted to go back and do the darkoath tribe freehanding, but after the rules release (i paint these guys to play) i am pretty demotivated because of how bad the rules are. i hope they get updated and then i can come back with fresh enthusiasim
A big bad in 3 hours counts as speed paint, yeah? I attacked this guy with a plan and it came out great.
Just having some sloppy fun with the nexus chaotica using sponging for almost everything.
the purple stone isnt really sitting with me. im prob going to change that color, its a little too much
Trying to figure out Abraxia and some subtle fire OSL varanguard.
A lot to catch up on. For starters, I'm pivoting to wrap up my Dominion and Skaventide Stormcast. Here's where I started with the base coat and the test model.
The scheme is nicely repeatable and I think I'm about under an hour per model. Though I'm not really keeping track of time, but it needs to be relatively quick or it'll take me longer than I want to finish.
Also dabbling in some skaventide themed terrain that looks awesome.
