So I have never been able to airbrush even though I have tried using an airbrush for the last year. I messed up by using an Oil based acrylic which clogged my airbrush. I recently got a new head but it isn’t spraying and I do not know what to do. I use 25 psi and pour acrylic paint directly in the cup and then equal amount thinner. I use Army Painter brand and Vallejo thinner. What should I do? Should I change psi, how much thinner to acrylic and do I have to adjust something - there are two screws on the airbrush?

I have found that my best route for figuring out how much to thin the paint, is go to the extremes with thinner, then slowly back off.
For army painter, I do 1-1 Vallejo thinner to paint, and a couple drops of flow improver.
Do you mix in a cup then pour into the airbrush cup?
And what psi?
Also could it not be spraying because of the screws maybe too tight or too loose because the nozzle and the needle is clean?
I mix right in my airbrush, doing thinner and flow improver, then paint, and then back flushing. However, I have a different airbrush, so I would recommend mixing it separate. And I do about 25 psi
Tbh I’m not familiar with that style of airbrush. I’m thinking the front screw may be related to paint flow though.
Hard to tell without taking it apart myself.
Hmm ok thx
What does the back screw do?
The button for the airbrush feels more tight as i screw it
Back screw holds the airbrush needle in the retracting mechanism
Ok so it’s an adjustment then
So it gives you more or less travel in the trigger. It lets you dial in to do fine spray if you don’t have great manual trigger dexterity
My brush has it too
Does it spray pure water ok?
Ill try that and get back
Yeah try pure water, and try adjusting tye valve under the cup.
ok thx ill do that
Ok so it sprays water just fine
Only thing left is because of the paint then
Ok I GOT IT WORKING FINALLY IT WAS THE BOTTOM SCREW FOR FLOW
it is spraying way too hard thoe at 25 psi and im trying to paint some cotton
Should i adjust the screw under it again or drop the psi or move the brush further away
Can do a combination of all. If you’re doing fine work, drop the PSI a bit, and practice fine trigger control. Or use that screw on the back to avoid pulling the trigger back too far.
ok thx a lot the cotton gets pushed hella away but most important is that the brush is now working so ill get on going and trying
Some tweezers or something to hold it may be in order
25psi on the compressor is fine. Just use the MAC-Valve (the on under the airbrush) to adjust the pressure.
