I have airbrushed Grey as bakelser, a few hours ago. Was going to try oil wash. When I first applied it look perfect after a few minutes it looks bad! Help

Probably too much spirit. Wipe away and reapply if the effect wasn't intense enough imo.
Now when you wipe away you'll very quickly confirm if the previous layer is coming up.

Ohh ok!

No worries. Oils are nice you can mess up a bunch and just keep trying ๐Ÿ˜

Previous layer looks intact

Yeah you can basically make the area black and then wipe away the top with a sponge to leave all those tiles blacklined for example. Just depends what you're shooting for :)

Looking for an overall weathered. Was going first black
Then brown(spots) then some final green at the lower spots

Totally works. I like mixing a bunch of colors together for that first wash as well. Makes for interesting shadows.

I thought I would make 2 passes just for controll.

#

Dry and varnish in between.

#

Basically mimicking 1 layer null. 1 layer sepia

#

But for a fraction of gw prices ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like a plan :)

Thanks for the emergency rescue

Ah I know that look well I often go too heavy handed on the thinning ๐Ÿ˜‚

#

It's an interesting effect done intentionally though

Curious how can you make it thinner though?

willow stratus
#

How do you mean?

dreamy star
#

If a want a suttler effect?

willow stratus
#

Oh use a transparent paint and no thinner and scumble it out on the palette until the effect become as weak as desired. No spirits needed.

dreamy star
#

Thin it with water? Or no oil?

#

I made it thicker now but more or less same effect. I guess I will let it dry mostly and wipe and hope for the best

Just spread the paint out and reduce the amount directly on your brush. If you want to just tint things subtly

Ohh I see! Yeah that was a different approach! I'll use that for the second brown/green layer
