-Base layer both the green and brown try to be clean about the brush strokes.
- after its dry, start applying your highlight color. You can thin it down a bit more than usual so it's semi transparent .
It will help prevent it from being such a hard transition.
You can also do a mid transition color of a mix of both your base and the highlight color.
- at the end do a wash. A sepia would work well.

Then do the eyes over the wash unless u want the eyes darker

and then a wash would work like brown i think would work well

no it does not
get colours you think would be useful and look nice and i think you can focus more on actually learning to paint!! like holding and loading your brush, thinning, basecoating
those i think will be more useful skills to learn and get better looking minis!!!

I'm an avid lover of contrast paints, this could be done with them. But it would be REALLY IMPORTANT to let one side dry before you do the other
I think a nice brown woukd be easyer to start with that an orange, maybe try gore gunta fur (contrast) and skag brown in combination with dark angel green (contrast) and caliban green for the combo
I like the tip from here earlyer to apply 1 color of wash (nuln oil if you want black lines, but agrax could look cool aswell for a more weathered earthy look)

Do you have paints at home already ? How comfortable are you with mixing your own colors?
Essentially you might have to get a fleshtone. You can do a white base and to a contrast flesh color and call it a day if you just want table top ready.

I ran it through impcat for you. It gives some recommendations for highlights and shading based on citadel paints, obviously no gospel, but it should give you a good idea what to aim for.

Space marines usually are called as a last resort when enemies threaten to overwhelm the imperium, those kinds of fights usually are above ground
That being said the imperial guard has a unit specialising in underground and urban warfare so I don't see why space marines cannot
Also from a practical sense space marines are at least 8 feet tall so it can be kinda unwieldy in small underground spaces
