Paint something from under the sea. If it lives under water you can submit for extra points

STANDARD HOUSEKEEPING RULES :

You may prep your mini, this includes, gap fill, assemble, purchase and prime ahead of time. Paint should only be applied during the time-frame of the PAL.

Anyone can join in on the fun. Just share your mini first and paint within the time frame. Request your points in the point request channel by following the pinned post on how to ask for points.

You can't submit the same mini for multiple PALs or other multiple events. And units minis can't be split among the different PALS if they are identical .

Have fun and be nice to each other. Share some wips and some laughs.

Having monday with a kid sleeping in after staying up till 3:00 and Today an extra day of holiday with said little one visiting grandma and granddad most of today without me did give me a unprecedented amount of time to paint, and uninterrupted at that... so that helps a lot 🙂

Settled on Grey base for panels then doing a grey-green blended rim to each and bright green and black in between panels to created the feel that organic schmutz is growing and corroding things.

I've been just trying to do the same. I avoid metallic paints, but with these I decided to give it a go and wanted to do a lot of rust.

What I did was basically base-coat them brown, then added some lighter browns and oranges quite haphazardly (often with too much water to give some pooling and coffee staining) where I thought dampness would collect and then on top of that I painted with metallics but made sure to leave gaps in the coverage here and there to expose the browns and oranges. The last thing I did was edge highlight most of the edges or areas where I would imagine wear with a brighter steel/silver. For particular pieces I wanted very corroded, that was basically all I did in metallics, leaving the rest brown and orange (like the claw the small guy 2nd from the right has)

I tried the same with the bronze pieces but used verdigris instead, that however did not really look good, so there I had to add the verdigris after the fact. I'm not really sure why it didn't work, maybe because the verdgris is so bright? maybe it has to do with how bronze corrodes? There it worked better to basecoat brown, paint metallics and then use blue-green color highlighted with verdgris to make corroded spots as well as let highly dilluted verdigris pool and coffee stain here and there.
