I was thinking the chaos army would be a bastardization of the typical "holy" look. Pure white armor, golden/bronze trim (I haven't done highlights on any of that yet) with grotesque flesh and monsterous designs.

I'd go with grey. It ties in quite well with what he is. He's like a more dark character. Like scary

Grey on what, the skin or armor panels?

#

Should I put in highlights then with white?

Armour

(Copying from the Gen Chat)

Was thinking of doing sickly burnt flesh with hot, red cindering parts but not even sure how that would work.
To contrast the brighter, cleaner armor.

#

Ok, I will try that.

Or you can get the best of both worlds and glaze grey on top of the white

#

It'll be kinda grey and kinda white

I was thinking colorful,.but I've painted a bunch of tzeentch stuff and that's all I know

White can work you just need to pick an appropriate skin colour

#

Too drab and it'll just get lost

#

A vibrant red could work, as could any of the combos jatbi posted

lost stone
#

So something like this wouldn't work too well?

#

Just with darker black areas and brighter/more vibrant moltent locations.

If you have the ability to chuck than into Photoshop/whatever and change the knees/loincloth to white that should give you an idea

I am on my phone. I don't have a PC to do that atm.

#

I will try that when I get home.

I'd say give him a grey skin with greenish tint. White, copper and green work well together, but since it's chaos, a sickly green or blue would probably be awesome to go with

lost stone
#

Should I stick with the black basecoat and build up from there with brighter greys?

Probably works as well as going midtown all over and build up shadows and highlights

your whites look like they don't have great coverage and it's possible to see the texture already there.

If you decide to do some layering from grey it might be worth trying to level the texture with some brushed on varnish before hitting it with the grey

Yea I was going to mess around with it being more prominent around the bits of his horns, try and make the metal bits look like they have been superheated.

Might be somewhat incongruous with having clean white armor. Like the gas mask being heat affected but the armor not. Might signify the holy armor as something special
