#How to freehand lace?

Do you have any watercolor pencils?
I do.
You can "draw" the basic shape where you want your lace to be. There is a lot of different textures and lace styles so I'd do a bit of research on the ones you'd like to try to recreate
You can go over the drawn shape with your paint over the lines you did

I would suggest a simple shape btw. To try out anyway

I did find this not sure how effective it is.
This is part of a Twitch session where I painted I painted a 3D print from Loot Studios.
This is the earlier portion of the session where I set up the translucent cloth and then the lace pattern,
I have hundreds of tutorials for miniature painting as part of my Patreon page at https://www.patreon.com/JamesWappel

Otherwise I would check out vince venturellas how to freehand cheating video and apply the technique to lace which is really just lines

use white watercolor for the tracing ... It has a lot less pigment density and is easier to wash away.
I messed up and I guess my watercolor pencils were too harsh and I started to scrape the paint off with it. So I just YOLO'd it and wnt for the ink. Not great...
It does get the point across though.
It looks nice!
If you feel comfortable and have a small enough brush you can add a bit of depth in the lace by adding a lighter grey for added dimension
Like, lighter grey over top of the existing black lines?
Yes just a little bit of course because even though lace is small and usually mostly flat it still has a bit of highlights
Time to get out the goggles.
