I want to freehand lace very similar to what is done here. Any advice or links to tutorials that might get me started in the right direction?

You can "draw" the basic shape where you want your lace to be. There is a lot of different textures and lace styles so I'd do a bit of research on the ones you'd like to try to recreate

You can go over the drawn shape with your paint over the lines you did

use white watercolor for the tracing ... It has a lot less pigment density and is easier to wash away.

I messed up and I guess my watercolor pencils were too harsh and I started to scrape the paint off with it. So I just YOLO'd it and wnt for the ink. Not great...
