Awesome process pictures! Really enjoy seeing it step by step
Whatβs the purpose of this step? Priming the individual pieces?
@fiery mesa that and keeping them seperate for painting hard to reach spots.
I kept the front and back of the torso just blue tac'd together so I could pop them apart for painting under the cloaks as well

Is this pretty common? I'm painting a couple miniatures from citadel right now that are impossibly small and have details in hard to reach spots.
For characters and display models, yeah. For infantry and basic dudes, I usually don't worry about it.
If the model has a really open pose where everything is accessible, i don't usually sibassemble. But if their arms are crossed or they're carrying something, I'll usually leave the arms off or temporarily stick them on for priming and preshading, then pop it off to paint separately
A basic tactical marine, like this dude, I'll just leave the gun on and paint around it as best I can.
Knocked out the metals tonight, mostly
Tried something different on the back pack

@fiery mesa just whenever tbh lol. It's a lot of back and forth
Ultimately this is where I'm at. The client asked me to change the sword like 4 times lol
