When I paint minis I like to sub assemble them. But when I glue the finished bits together the glue over spills over the paint on the model ruining the paint. How do I stop this

What glue and how are you applying it?

Citadel glue is good for this. The dispensing tube is incredibly thin giving you more control of how much comes out. One thing I can suggest, if you're using the citadel one, is to squeeze a bit out onto the dispensing tube first and then dabbing it on the model, this will keep you from applying too much accidentally when a bunch comes out by mistake.

Hope that helped.

I would say that if you have big spills over, it means you're applying too much glue.
Glues are working better when you have a thin layer.

If you are using plastic minis, Tamiya's Extra Thin is amazing for this and it comes with a brush applicator.

(Worth keeping in mind they also sell this product as Airbrush Thinner, this is good for refills cause it's loads cheaper)

And if you want something even cheaper, buy some acetone and some butyl acetate, mix them 50/50 and you have the Tamiya extra thin.
(no risk of dangerous reactions, these are just two solvents)
