d79. worked more on the gold. I discovered a new (for me) type of painting with oils that I call subtractive. I start with the brightest color (say the highlights in gold) then add diluted midtones down to shadows. Then I "shape" the midtones with a brush that's been cleaned in mineral spirits. It erases away the paint. I found it's much easier to do fine detail work this way than with out-of-the tube paints or even diluted oils in additive way. Sooo...pretty big discovery for me today!
