Paint it just like it says. Any variations of split is welcome. I've attached a few examples for general ideas but it is not limited to this. You can also achieve this look with a more intense Object Source Lighting (OSL) . Pictures borrowed from our Guide Google

@lethal bay @solid flower @median dagger @maiden marten @rough otter
I hope I didn't forget anyone but here we go
Thank you. I'll use this as an excuse to paint a few of my Marines Errant.
(very similar to the nova marine above but halved rather than quartered)
Ooo I'm excited to see that.
I need to pick a model to do this with. Might try from my printed stash
ooo smart
One I did about 3 months ago. I want to re-do the banner.
I did a troll once centre split pink and lime green. I was at my brother in laws and we decided to paint part of his stash at random. (It's a one legged, one eyed troll).
That seems awesome!!
I don't remember what brand it was - trying to find it.
Of course this happens after I've finished these... ah who am I kidding I wouldn't have finished in time anyway
It's seriously cool. And you should of suggested it !!
it was fun to paint though so anyone on the fence about trying an OSL half and half please do give it a go
Here's the guy I did that I wanted to see more like which prompted this >.>
Made a quick start this evening as a wee side project
I will try to find an armored man for you
But If not... we getting something like this.. maybe less nipply
How much time we have to finish the mini? February?
The end of feb it seems!
Very nice!
Yee love that
Till end of February
Nice
I have an idea.. but.. it's.. weird 🤣
those are the best kind of ideas
I mean I might be able to pull it off 🤣 I'll probably make a real entry though but this will be a personal "end of year challenge ".
I like to be part of this paint-along, but I never did any paint-along, I don't know whether I should request to the moderator, or sending a picture for the proof before working on, etc. Is there any guideline for paint-along in general? or could somebody explain to me briefly? Thanks.
Just posting here joins it! And post your WIP and everything related to it here! I’m when you’re gone and ready to request points for the mini be sure to note that it’s part of the PAL for those extra spicy 3 points
Thanks, Since it mentioned Now-Feb, I guess the deadline is probably the end of 2023 Feb, right?
That’s correct!!
I plan to work this one. Half angel and half demon. 😉
So cool
That's an ultra perfect mini
neigh
In progress...
Omg seriously
(That's amazing already)
Ha, thanks. I have a bad omen (jinx?) that starting with very good looking job and end poorly. We'll see. 😉
Heck no spray that bad juju with ipa
Primed a couple of marines with this in mind.
Planning on this good old bretonnian for split the mid
Too bad they don't make it anymore, bretonnia was the most fun faction to paint imho, you can just get really creative
Just use hundred year wars historicals. Foundry if you want whfb official figures.
For real?
@lethal bay The Foundry 100 years war range is primarily ex citadel miniatures for WHFB 3rd edition bretonnians. The War of the roses range are the original figures used for 3rd edition empire. All these figures were made by Michael and Alan Perry.
Yo this made my week
Guess mine are first serie i think they are similar but still different
First or second, they are leftover that my father didn't make when making his bretonnia army back in the day
3rd edition is something like 1987.
5th or 6th then. Plastic horses?
Yeah most of them are plastic
I think the original figures had plastic horses - foundry are all metal though.
But you can also get other ranges in the same style. Perry brothers do plastic ranges.
Yeah i saw, thanks for the heads up on looking abount hundred year war even in general
Won't be any good for 'gw sanctioned tournaments' of course.
I paint them only for fun not intendi g of playing with them
And even if i want, i got my father full bretonnia and full imperial
They were great minis
Still don't know why they shut fantasy down
But i can understand that 40k surclassed fantasy for different reason
There is intention of bringing back some version of whfb next year.
This paint along screams BATTLETECH!!!
It might 🙂
It does !
Made a start on these last night. Didn't realise I forgot to post here as well as advent event.
Rough at the moment.
p.s. I'm using the original design for Marines Errant - red shooting star rather than flaming meteor with the insignia on the white side, not the blue.
I’m thinking something like this for my Battlemaster
I absolutely adore that teal/blue and yellow combo
Yall going to be proud of me. Here's me blocking out some checkers.
Surprise surprise it isn't OSL magic this time.
I'm going to be cleaning it up a lot during gremlins nap time.
Here's da split
That's crisp
For a second I misread that and thought you said it's crap and was like "damn dork, who shit in your cereal I thought it looked nice!"

Holiday dork is feral 😂🤣🤣
I fear I might of pissed off someone about the H's in their entry for advent calendar lol
I'm on a roll today 🤣
I was told to be brutal lol and I'm still only managing half way 🫠
keep it going i believe in you
lol only one day left
Wrong I've got a lifetime to annoy people
lol jk
Halfway done basing my Battlemaster
Last week, I was out for a vacation. Came back home, worked on the armor and feathered wing. So far so good. As I'm working on oil, I need it cured before working on the the eyes and sword.
Thanks!! Appreciate your kind words.
Yeah that's some amazing work Mulgam
Thanks to you, too. Appreciate your devotion to this server. 😉
Everyone makes it worth it
I just finished the bust, the final photos are here: #completed-minis message
Here it is
Outstanding job. Your work just keeps getting better 🥰
That came out so great!!
Thanks you very much
I have been doing these bretonnia each 2/3 month and i can really see the practice paying off
All colors blocked in & dry brushed on highlights. Ready for panel lining.
Wow, amazing. I can't think how much effort is required for the freehand drawing. 😉
More o less 2/3 hours for each corner of the horse drape
Not counting eventual small correction
But boi is it worrh it
Here's mine..
Ooo look at this dude. Love the center window thing !!
Oh no is that blood?!
Never would I thought that Oil dumpster could be so cute. Great job.
No, just reflections. It will look better after I varnish
Agreed it kind of hurt to dirty up the barrels after spending so much time with the squares
Oh okay ! Sweet
Didn't get around to this one tonight- maybe tomorrow.
Finished my Battlemaster. Now to get the base done
Love it
Finished up my Battletech Battlemaster. Very happy with how it turned out 🥰
Don't forget to turn In for points. He looks epic BTW
Thanx, I had a lot of help from @jolly veldt
2 weeks later, I obviously didn't make that attempt 😀
Well
We starting stuff on him
Stripes so far
Gonna try checkblard
So help me blood god
Did the extra to finish this off tonight.
I really have to work on the army. Started in 1992 and currently have 3 figures finished...
Wooo!! Very lovely
Oh my! That's a long outstanding army time 😅
I remember the specific events when I decided on the particular army - and am able to date it based on those events. It has just never been a high priority. Probably because each figure takes so long.
Even assuming I get a figure done per week it will take me 2 years to finish it.
But it would look fantastic.
Dang it would still be pretty cool. Although I wonder if you'd get a lot quicker hence a shorter time frame maybe? . I'm hoping I can manage my necrons ( I don't have a lot so shouldn't be impossible)
I do have some time saving techniques. Two sheets of star decals for example.
