#Colour scheme opinions

Hello hobby friends! I’m looking for opinions on this colour scheme for my skeletons. As it’s stands, I’m happy with the green armour and the purple bones. I’m mostly happy with the green torn cloth (it was initially a more plain beige before I tinted it green to be more coherent, not sure which is better).

My problem points are the shield, sword, and small bits of chainmail.

I felt that making the shield the same green as the armour would make it look to samey-same, but adding a new colour here is difficult because it’s a big area on the side of the model and risks looking unbalanced if it is too contrasting.

I instead opted for a colder, sickly green that matches the greens used on the torn cloth. I’m not sure how I feel about this colour choice.

As for the sword and chainmail, I tried a low-saturation bronze nmm since I thought the warmth would add some variation, but failed twice because nmm swords in particular are impossible for me, and instead opted for a simple colour gradient that doesn’t really look like anything in particular.

The sword looks really out of place, and I’m not sure what to do about it.

My ideas are to maybe retry the sword nmm with a regular steel colour, and leave the shield as is, or change both the sword and shield to completely different colours.

What would you do in my position?

Thanks in advance for your input and opinions! 🙂

I agree that the sword looks out of place, it seems too gold. What about going more bronze like the scale mail you have?

Either that or you could paint the shield the same gold to balance out the colors

I think this is really freaking cool (and original!) as it is. The only thing I might be tempted to do would be to bring some of that sword color over to the shield as if it's perhaps made out of 2 or more different kinds of metal. I did this recently on a similar model and I feel like it worked fairly well. I did 3 colors total, but just 2 might be cool as well. ... anyway... just an idea. As I said: it looks great as it is now

I think there are too many colors that are so close to each other in tone and saturation that you lose definition of the figure.

Purple will "pop" against yellow or green and will create that contrast, but you have an overwhelming amount of yellow and green, which don't really contrast with one another (and are both desaturated) and completely drowns out the purple (which is also desaturated). The sword "looks out of place" because it's the least desaturated color on the figure - the top of the chest piece is 2nd.

The sword has contrast, nothing else really does.
