#sealing and-or varnishing oil paints?
17 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I just spray my usual matte mr. hobby topcoat over them about 24hrs after I apply them. Haven't had problems yet.
Mine will not be cured in 24hrs prob closer to a week. Is that your final stage or have you ever painted on top of the varnish?
I use Vallejo Mecha Varnish Matte
I've gone back and painted over them again with no problems. The topcoat is a lacquer so it doesn't pick back up so I can use enamels, oils and acrylics over it again.
Ok thanks ill order a matte lacquer topcoat. I appreciate the help.
Just make sure you're spraying thin/light coats and not flooding it.
Because the size (lotr) I might look for a brush on for that reason
That'll pick up your oils and paint coat.
Even if it’s cured?
I have an old beater airbrush. Maybe an option?
Yeah, that'd work. You just don't want to be running a brush over it because the friction will pick up your oils and paints.
Ok I’ll grab something and spray it out of something lol thanks again I appreciate it. Hoping these horses get looking better
You could use a can of Testors Dull Cote:
Testors Spray Lacquer 3oz, Clear Coat https://a.co/d/4kRAMLp
