You can make blood splatters using toothbrush. Just cover it with runny red paint and spray it on mini using a finger.
Gloss varnish also helps to sell that gore effect

there are blood effects you can do with glue, but doing the stringy bits between body parts isn't so great if you're gonna be handling the mini a ton in my experience
agree with gloss varnish, I like building up with the GW blood effect paint too, you can get a good pooled gore effect with that

yeah i'll check my local hobby shop - is there a particular one you use? i see there is a "blood for the blood god" effect paint from citadel
