  • Watching records/demos should not stop your run
  • Watching demos needs a way to do slow-mo without enabling sv_cheats 1
  • Demos should have high polling on the mouse inputs, smoothness is a priority when it comes to surf, however the demos 'look' subpar and top tier surfers simply look 'good'.
  • People have made requests to "pause" your run, although I think this is a bit strange.
  • Runs should continue after stopping your game (Keep time ticking, and resume player position when re-entering the map)
  • Record screen feels sluggish and slow, It's also impossible to scroll though the list and see other players times/demos. Last place runs are important for hard map completions as they show the easiest route.

  • Public broadcast of WR / shout outs "GordiNoki got 1st place 5:40 on Surf_Aubis"
  • "Community Servers" just a map rotation in the main screen people can 'join' if they just want to surf with people instead of alone.
  • "Most Viewed Records of the Month/Week" on the home screen

  • Watching demos killing your run is a known bug I'm pretty sure.
  • I don't think pausing runs is good, all runs should be done RTA imo, if people want to do them separately they can just run off timer or even go afk for at least a certain amount of time, pretty sure there wont be an afk check.
  • For runs continuing after stopping your game, idk what you really mean here but I think they plan to have a maximum time you're allowed to spend on maps so demos aren't too long. Unless this is meant for crash protection?
  • WRs in irc would probably also need to be customizable (allow you to choose which gamemodes you'd like to see wrs from, and if you want stage and bonus wrs as well)
  • I don't think rotation community servers are really necessary honestly. I think a more useful addition would be a list of most populated maps per gamemode and a list of active players' public lobbies sorted by their rank (like !content on tempus which is a very popular command to just hop into a server with some good player playing something)

(red ss) I have an idea for super long replays, to save on storage whenever the run is complete, it removes the portions of the replay where the player isn't moving (with an afk checker). however there'd be random jumps forward in time while watching the replay, so perhaps a red segment showing the player was afk at this moment (this would get skipped over seamlessly while watching a replay)

(green ss) similar to this, another idea I have is watching the replay without seeing the fails (stage-map specific, wouldn't be a thing for linear maps), so for this example the replay would seamlessly only show the green segment portion of the run. this would be a toggleable feature.

He did say they might add segmented runs as a separate leaderboard though so that would do the same thing essentially (I personally don't think this is a good idea though honestly)

No clue, but allowing non-RTA runs in a speedrun game is bad

Spectating should also not break your timer, fine to keep the timer running
