As well as the option to enter a room code, you could type in an address to connect to a community hosted server. Community servers would allow somebody to have much more control over parts of the room such as video sources and bitrate. This would also take strain off of the bigscreen servers and allow for communities to run with much higher bitrates.

This would obviously be a security risk as the server would see information of the clients. Because of this, this could be a more closed feature with you having to enable it in settings with a disclaimer and stuff and also have something like an EULA for server hosts.

I just see this as a good feature especially with some communities have started building proper systems yet being limited by the built in hosting solutions. An example of this is how bad 3d looks due to the resolution being so low. A server could increase their resolution to higher amounts.

I would vouch for a self-hosted bigscreen server.

You may somehow see communities doing more intricate and cool things as thy would have more control.

A P2P server hosting solution would be great IMO. To take the load off the main BS servers, the load could gradually be shifted, in chunks, to people who choose to accept the fractional hosting. This would be granted to people who have been in the room long enough, and it would allow for multiple users to share the load of the server, and also be granted some permissions to cast on the bigscreen. Additionally, if enough peers are helping to host, it could also allow for a higher user count in a room, with 30 people at max. However, to allow for 30 people in one room, each new person to join after 15 would have to agree or disagree to be a fractional host/peer. It would not become a requirement until there isnt enough peers to sustain the 30 player load.

It's like downloading a torrent, the more peers and seeders there are, the faster the download will be. With bigscreen, the more users agree to share fractions of the load of the server resources on their PC in that instance, the less laggy the room will be, the higher quality the bitrate can be, and the higher amount of users there can be in the room in that instance.

This is a duplicate request BTW. Search P2P and you will find my original post for this same feature.

It's not quite a duplicate, since this request is asking for entire community servers. Our servers handle things like the public room list, banning users, voice chat communication, calculating spatial audio, and our upcoming friends list.

Bigscreen is not currently setup for anything like this. Right now, everyone, no matter where in the world they are, connect to the same Bigscreen server, which then handles all of the above, in addition to video streaming.
