#Local dimming support for Quest Pro

Totally agree, vote for it. Q2 to Q Pro was a step back in immersion: Especially the top and side edges suffer from more light banding. It feels (subjectively) like you are sitting in a dark room and there is a red/yellow fire just behind you, so it shines on the peripheral view.
Can we help? Test?
The wait for any of the video player apps to enable local dimming is tough. Bigscreen, Skybox, and Virtual Desktop are all yet to enable it.
This is a great idea. Would love to see this in Bigscreen as a checkbox option.
What can we do to escalate it? Anywhere we can vote, create a ticket / feature request.
What can help?
From what I see from the documentation it is here:
bool OVRManager._localDimming ( )
needs to be set to true. Dont know if this helps? Maybe devs are already on it.
Yeah. Seems like an easy one fortunately. Like one line of code. A tad more if you code in a preference switch for it.
Yes, there is a #1021553724486848622 forum where requests can be posted and then individual requests can be upvoted.
This would be huge, and if it’s fairly easy to implement I really hope we’ll see it soon
I have to think this will get some love from the dev team. Watching movies on the Pro is freaking amazing vs Quest 2. I'd be surprised if some of the Bigscreen team aren't using Quest Pros. This woulld likely make for a large improvement even above what Quest Pro already is offering in terms of visual boost.
I'd love to see this. Quest Pro is amazing for 3D movie watching in Big Screen. Local dimming would help with reducing the brown glow you get at the lens edges in dark scenes too.
Is there any update on this? Seeing what local dimming can do in Red Matter 2, it’s like a generational leap. It’s completely night and day.
How is this not a thing yet? It's a line of code tied to a switch.
I'm bumping this up, I have just recently purchased a quest pro and it's a bummer to not have this local dimming feature. Having it as an optional option would do no harm considering the implementation is rather simple (according to recent posts I've read on the net - correct me if i'm wrong)
local dimming now works with the latest PTC update via PCVR, you'll need both PTC update on the headset and pc.
How does it look?
