There are a few ways you could do this, but if you really just want to do this for just one person the best option is probably through the Integration options built into Discord.

Server Settings > Integrations > Rythm. From there, you can block specific commands (or all commands) from being used in specific channels, by certain users, or by users with certain roles

so ive JUST added rhythm to my server and it seems hypothetically quite nice but theres a few things im still having questions about (sorry for so much text-)
my other members cant use the bot? like i added a role named dj, gave it to everyone, and even just turned OFF the dj only setting but it just wont let anyone but me use controls?
then, it automatically added itself into a text channel i already had before the bot existed that was named music? i didnt tell it to go there... i didnt really want it there, theres no need for it to be outside of the voice channel i designated for it, so i want to make it stop automatically sending updates to that channel.
i still want it to announce songs in the voice channel, but i want that to be the only channel its in. i know all of these are possible features, as ive seen them with other ppl using rhythm, but i do not know what to do myself to set up rhythm to best work this way for me.
any help is greatly appreciated, thank you very much!

Hi! Can your server members use other bots at all? Is it just Rythm that's blocked?

As for the other things, Rythm will automatically rebind itself to the last channel a command is run in, so running a command in the channel you'd like it to be in will make it respond there. It's likely that Rythm sent its welcome message in the other channel as we try to find the best matching channel to send a welcome message in to help users get started with Rythm. (It shouldn't continue doing this though, just the initial welcome!)

If you'd like to restrict what channels Rythm can send replies in, you'll find the Allowed Channels option in /settings helpful as you can designate either an allowed channels or blocked channels list (whichever is easiest for your setup). Commands run outside of these channels will not be replied to & wont rebind Rythm's reply channel

If it's just Rythm that's blocked, there's a few things for us to check.

1. Double check any permission setups to ensure users have Use Application Commands permissions in the channels you'd like Rythm to be used
2. Double check any channel specific overrides to make sure Rythm isn't blocked from certain channels
3. If you frequently use Discord's built in integration options, double check these too! You can find them in Server Settings > Integrations > Rythm.

If they type / and no commands come up for Rythm, this points us to a permission issue, so it'll likely be one of these things

Hi, the Always Playing option is enabled on Rythm by default with no extra input. If you want something to play always without any input, you can set up a default playlist and enable the instant play options in /settings. This will make it so whenever Rythm is connected to a voice channel (or the queue is empty) it will immediately play the default playlist without any delay to wait for manual queueing

Hello! I’m trying to upgrade to the Server Premium plan, but I keep getting an error with any card I try to add. I’ve tested different cards and the issue still happens.

The payment works fine when I select the personal plan. However, that plan only activates premium in my server when I am in the voice channel together with the bot.

What I would like is to activate Server Premium, so the entire server has premium access regardless of whether I am in the voice channel or not.

Could you please check what might be causing this error when trying to upgrade to Server Premium?

This is unfortunately a bug in our upgrade system right now (and one that is rather complicated to fix) so normal subscription purchases will work, but upgrades are a little borked for the moment. We can help you out manually by doing a manual cancellation & a prorated refund for your existing sub which will allow you to do a server sub immediately. Alternatively, you can wait out the ~5-ish days left on the sub you have right now as it looks like it's set to cancel already on the 28th

Yup! Once it ends on the 28th, you can visit https://rythm.fm/premium like you'd normally do to purchase a sub, you'll be able to select the server option & purchase however many server subs you're needing! (up to our maximum of 5)

Keep in mind that we don't have 100% localization coverage for server subscriptions quite yet, but prices are available in basically all of our top markets. I believe you're located in one so you should be able to purchase a sub. Just in case the time comes & there's no server option on the page, that'll be why so you're not confused! (Localization is a super intensive effort and there's hundreds of places to localize to, so we've prioritized the places where the most amount of people can access the new subscription option)

Rythm accepts YouTube, Spotify, and Rythm links. However, because we license our own library some tracks from YouTube may not be found properly as we have to match them to tracks in our own library. Things like large hour long mashup videos or unofficial uploads may have this effect!

Depends how you're listening, mobile audio can be difficult. Are you using any bluetooth listening devices? Are you using the bot while on mobile? Either of those two could degrade audio quality! Bluetooth devices infamously don't play well with quality since they have limitations on bandwidth, as well as listening on mobile can be bad through a call because Discord will sometimes be in "phone call" mode for your phone rather than standard audio playback

Howdy! By default, Rythm comes with a DJ Role system that restricts disruptive commands to only those with DJ permissions. These are commands like /forceskip, /stop, /loop, or /clear as examples. DJ permissions can be given by creating a role named "DJ" and giving it to a user, or by giving them the Manage Server or Manage Channels permissions on one of their roles. Alternatively, you can specify one of your existing roles as the DJ role using the DJ role option in /settings

If you need extra granularity, you'll want to use Discord's built in integration settings instead as we don't allow you to specify permissions for specific commands. You can get to Discord's integration options via Server Settings > Integrations > Rythm. There, you can block commands from certain roles and allow them to others. (Note that this blocks commands from being run or seen, but DJ permissions are still required to run commands that require DJ permissions even if their role can see it via integration options)

Howdy! There is somewhat a way of doing this. There's two different approaches we can take here.

1. DJ Only Mode
   Enabling DJ only mode in /settings will make it so only those with DJ permissions can use the bot. What we can do right now to solve this is I can cancel & refund your existing subscription which will let you purchase a server plan through https://rythm.fm/premium. Keep in mind that refunds may take 5-10 business days to reflect in your account, but typically they're much sooner than that!

In other servers, it's just a role granted to you by an administrator based on whatever requirements they decide

Our settings in /settings:

• DJ Only Mode: Enabled
• Default Playlist: Enabled
• Instant Play: Enabled
• VC Lock: Enabled
• Allowed Channels: Enabled

All of these settings are useable with the free version of Rythm and work together to get the radios you see in our server!

it's quite obvious rythm doesn't support linux, people are much less likely to complain, especially linux users who actually know how to read most of the time

not to mention most of the effort on your end would be spent on distribution (putting it on repositories like the AUR, flathub and similar)

the actual linux build is usually as simple as one singular extra command being ran each full new build of rythm

However, if you want it to always be playing something when users join without any input from users, you'll want to set up a Default Playlist. To prevent users from doing anything with Rythm, you'll want to enable DJ Only mode. You can do both of these with /settings!

You can silence a lot of notifications with /settings, but things like command responses or people using control panels can't be turned off

Settings to look at:

1. Announce Songs - Disabling turns off the message sent when a new song is played
2. Feature Toggles:
   a. Disable mention response - Makes the bot not respond with its help message when pinged
   b. Controls - Turns off the controls button on now playing messages, but this doesn't matter if Announce Songs is disabled
   c. Session Resume prompt - Disables the bot sending resume prompts in the voice channel chat when people join the channel
   d. Session recap DMs - Currently disabled experiment, but you can turn it off for if we ever enable it again. This would send you DMs with a link to the session on our web app which would contain the songs played, who queued them, and the ability to create a playlist out of the songs queued

I would like no queue messages at all so the chat that is used for it just has the interface always there and people dont need more instructions to use the app. it's in a chat where people cannot type, the interface can be used as normal but it leaves a bunch of queue messages.

Yeah unfortunately this wouldn't really be possible, you could manually rig this up but eventually the interface/controls will expire so you'd have to refresh it constantly/run a new command

Hi! That's correct. Because Rythm legally licenses its music, we have to ensure we have a track in our library before we play it. The easiest way for us to do this (as well as display track information from our library in places like the queue, now playing, stuff like that) is to convert those tracks into our own track format, which you can then use a rythm playlist link to queue up

That's basically all you need to do! Rythm works essentially out of the box, but you can customize it a bit with /settings if you want to modify some behaviors

Here's some steps to get started:

1. Join a voice channel
2. Run /join to have it join your voice channel, or just run /play and give it a song name/link and it'll join and start playing automatically
3. Run /help to see a list of other commands you can run, like /queue to see the queue and /search to get more control over what is queued

Rythm has a decently robust auto-play system, so really it can be pretty hands-off. Queueing a song to get it started on the type of music you'd like will allow it to start automatically adding music to your queue when the queue is empty, so you can just queue one and let it handle the rest. You can always continue to manually queue stuff as well which will help steer what kind of music it gives you. You can turn any of this behavior off in /settings too!

Howdy! Not really sure what you're asking, but you can import Spotify playlists using the web app if you have a playlist you've made and want to listen to!

Kind of, while we don't have collaborative tools quite yet it is possible to create a Rythm playlist on the web app and set it as the default playlist in /settings. This means this playlist will play by default whenever there are no other songs in the queue. This should function pretty closely to what you're wanting!

Hi! The bot doesn't have any commands to repeat things that are said by users, but if you're just looking to change what channel it replies in, it'll automatically swap its reply channel to the last channel a command was used in. Hope that helps!

There's currently no way to check the exact reason something is unavailable, but it could be for a bunch of different reasons:

1. The music is being ingested into Rythm right now, so it'll be available soon but isn't yet
2. The rights to the music changed and we no longer have it in our library
3. It's music not available in your region
4. The licenses themselves have expired and the music it covers is unavailable (very rare)

Howdy! Apologies for the late reply. Right now we offer a bunch of extra bots entirely for free, your server-wide plan covers all of those bots as well. In the sidebar here you'll see Rythm 2-10 & Rythm-chan, all of which are extra Rythm bots you can add to your server. To add them, click on any profile and press the "Add App" button!

Each Rythm bot is identical in functionality to the main Rythm, but they all have their own unique settings so you can configure them each using their respective /settings command and those edits will only apply to that bot.

As a sidenote, you will see Rythm Canary in the sidebar but it's not recommended to add it to your server as it's an alpha testing bot which can break frequently with updates. Just a heads up!

Rythm doesn't source it's tracks from Spotify, we do the same thing Spotify does in that we source our library directly from labels & distributors through licensing. This does mean there can be some differences in our library availability though! Typically new tracks are ingested quite quickly though

Howdy! If you're wanting to lock Rythm to a specific voice or text channel, take a look at the /settings command. You'll find a Voice Channel Lock setting which will make Rythm only able to join the channel you've designated & there's also an Allowed Channels list which will designate what channels commands are allowed to be run in or Rythm is allowed to respond in. I can give this pod a quick restart to clear up any potential issues, but keep in mind that Rythm uses a licensed library so it doesn't take audio straight from sources like YouTube. If you request tracks that aren't licensed by us, you'll run into errors! (This is a common error if you're requesting videos on youtube that contain multiple songs in one video, like hour long mashups.)
