In order to use any of our radios, you can start up rythm with activity. Then you can navigate to music tab and the radios should be right there! If any issues occur you cannot find it, let me know!

Ahh I see, it sounds like you may be running a lot of older hardware/software, so unfortunately you're probably going to run into a lot of compatibility issues with modern stuff. For example, Windows 7 itself was also retired about 5 years ago.

hey i've found a potential bug with the bot - it seems when you have a whole bunch of songs queued, it'll occasionally get stuck once a playing track ends and won't go onto the next song unless /forceskip is ran

when this happens it also causes the commands to briefly stop working

Hey I'm new to using this on my discord server , I am trialing it on a practice run server before bringing it to a active server , my issue is I have no idea what I'm doing 🤣 should I use a YouTube video or how do I figure what I'm doing , the first time I brought the server to my practice server it seemed very easy but then all of a sudden stopped playing music after a hour , I then removed and re introduced to the server some how I have the radio function now in my general , though music remains at voice channel , problem is now is if I exit and go to a app that involves music as I'm using my mobile for this the music stops running and I have to reboot , is this supposed to be happening or have I messed up my controls somehow, id like to have the music running and still be able to use my phone freely 🫠

Hihi! So, the mobile app & activity are pretty outdated right now if you're trying to use those. They're not really ready for public use quite yet since they're still in beta, so you'll likely run into some issues when using them. We're working on updating them right now!

For now, using the bot playback in a voice channel could be a solution. To do this, invite @dry iris to your server & then use the slash commands.

Howdy! The reason for this is because bots can't be in multiple channels in the same server at the same time. Just like users! It's a discord limitation that we can't do anything about, so only one voice channel in a server can use Rythm at a time.

The second picture is our old UI which has all of our existing library. If you have a server on the new UI & want it on the old one, let me know! I can swap the server to the old UI using a server ID

It just swaps back to the old UI, the largest differences being how search works, rooms being available for listening with multiple people at once on the old UI, and some features like looping or queue management are also only available on the old UI.

No worries at all! You'd check them from your server, yup!

First step is checking what roles Rythm has in your server. You can do this by clicking on @dry iris in your server & looking at the Roles section that pops up.

Next, go into your server settings, roles, find the Roles that Rythm has, and make sure one of them has View Channels

Finally, click on the ⚙️ icon when hovering the voice channel you want Rythm to join to go into the channel settings, then navigate to Permissions. Make sure that there isn't anything here that would deny View Channel from Rythm. If there is, you can add a manual override for Rythm and explicitly enable the View Channel permission which should fix it.

Right now we support spotify & youtube links, we're looking to support extra links soon like soundcloud & rythm song links. For platforms like YouTube, it may be a little harder to find songs just because there are so many versions of songs available on YouTube that we may not have licensed, as well as ones uploaded by many different kinds of people, including those who aren't the creators of the original song.

Your users may have more success using natural language searches & just typing the artist name & song name into the /play or /search command

We have to license the music to ensure we have the legal rights to stream it, so when someone requests music we search our licensed library to see if we have the song. To get your server ID, navigate to your Discord settings > Advanced > Enable Developer Mode. Once enabled, right click your server icon in the server bar and click the last option in the list, "Copy Server ID." You can send that to me here! As for the play command, right now Rythm is running on our new search engine that is still learning & doesn't have all of our existing music quite yet (it's the search engine on the new UI.) Because of this you may sometimes get the incorrect song, but generally it should be pretty accurate if we have the song indexed on the new engine.

We should have a big increase in song availability (and therefore accuracy in searches) pretty soon as we finish up getting all of our existing library implemented 🙏

Just click to launch! If you want to use the bot playback in DMs, unfortunately due to Discord limitations, bots cannot play in your DMs.

Hey! you can install one of the bots using this link https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=814675864859836417&scope=bot&permissions=0 and then use /settings to set a defaultplaylist which will turn it into a radio

A few more configuration options that might help are vc lock to lock it to a specific VC, and djonly if you want only DJs to control the music

Also make sure to enable always playing so it doesn't leave your channel

Let me know if you get stuck anywhere

The steps would be

1. Set a default playlist in /settings
2. Enable always playing in /settings
3. Optional: Set a VC lock
4. Optional: Enable DJ only mode

Howdy! You may have added Rythm's commands to your account as well as your server. To remove them, head over to your Discord account settings > Authorized Apps > Rythm > Deauthorize.

(Also Rythm Canary is a special case bot, it's primarily used for testing new features before they release to the public. This bot prooobably wont ever go through the verification process. That could change, but it's a little unlikely)

Heyo! Having it automatically play is done through the use of /settings. Here, we're utilizing the always playing, default playlist, and vc lock features.

Yo! So the mobile app is pretty outdated right now, we were working on it consistently awhile back. However, we found that we really needed to rewrite a lot of foundational code that made Rythm run (hence the new UI in beta right now) so our focus has been on that. Eventually we'll roll updates out to mobile for the new UI changes, but for now mobile is still pretty underdeveloped

I don't believe we offer subscriptions on mobile as well currently due to the underdeveloped nature of the app

Depends on what you're wanting! The primary way people use Rythm is through either the activity or direct bot playback.

To launch the activity, you can do so in any text or voice channel by clicking the activity launcher button & then finding Rythm in the list.

To use the bot playback, simply add @dry iris to your server and then get started with /play!

However, yes! If you're not very familiar with slash commands, you can just type a / in the chat and a bunch of commands will appear. Typing /play will let you see all of the play commands for each bot, once you enter into any of those commands you'll find a place where you can type what you'd like to play. Natural text like just typing the song title & also youtube + spotify links are accepted inputs!

This is because when you run the play command a hyperlink to join the voice channel is created! We then put that link as the song title you can click on when the "Now Playing" prompt comes up for the song.

Hi! Rythm works only with slash commands, text commands are not available as Discord doesn't tend to approve the permissions we need if the use-case is just for running text-based commands

Primarily it's because the tracks are not available quite yet, which could be because we're indexing the music or because we don't have the track yet. We're expecting a content update in the next 3-6 weeks that should fix nearly 100% of these cases!

that makes sense, another question if you can answer, we're currently on a discord call playing a game together but everyone in the call has their music de-sync and we're each listening to different songs in the same playlist

Hmmm that definitely sounds like a bug. Keep in mind however that if anyone seeks the song it'll seek for everyone. If your queue gets super out of sync right now, try skipping the current song and going to the next

Right now the primary two options are HD and High, which are generally 256 kbps and 96 kbps respectively. I don't believe we support Hi-Fi strictly currently, no, but audio quality is something we're generally always looking to improve once we've secured all the content we're looking for!

Hihii! So basically a DJ role just needs to be named "DJ" for it to work. It doesn't need any specific Discord permissions since this role is just used for our own internal permissions (so basically, who can forceskip, remove music that others queue, things like that. Nothing related to Discord)

You can also specify any role you create as a DJ role & it doesn't need to be named DJ, so for example if you have a level system in your server that grants roles to your users at certain milestones, you can set one of those roles as your DJ role & it will function as well!

In the new UI (which is what you see in the web app) not much right now. The old UI does have premium gated features, but when we started building the new UI we left everything unlocked so we can see what users like and don't like in the app while we build it.

So basically for now not much, but in the future there will be some features behind premium. However, it's a little too early to say exactly what will end up in premium since we're more focused on building a good product than building monetization currently

Not yet! The Discord bot is similarly going through those changes as the bot is hooked into our new systems (like the brand new search engine for the new UI)

It similarly also pulls all of the tracks from our library which the web app & activity use. Right now we pull tracks from the highest available quality as well, which on the old UI has been a premium feature.

So not right now! You can use all avenues of Rythm totally free with everything we have to offer

We do have /search you can use which will search for the songs we have instead, although I think a lot of karaoke versions might end up filtered out of results since there are a lot of karaoke and "party versions" of music that end up filling the search feeds hahaha.

Improving search is definitely something that's pretty high priority for us, so we'll keep working on making it better. We also have a content update coming in the next 3-6 weeks which should help a ton with Rythm not finding your music!

Hihi! Super sorry for the late reply. Right now we have a new UI in testing, servers that are brand new to Rythm & DMs have the new UI right now while servers that have used Rythm before the testing period started will continue seeing the old UI. We can swap servers between the different UIs using a server ID, so let me know if you need that!

Also, the new UI should let you listen with friends still. If you launch the activity from the same voice channel you should get automatically paired into the same session. If not, they should see the session at the top of their home feed. You'll see their profiles at the top right of the UI next to your own profile picture when they join!

Somehow the mobile activity on discord is really buggy I can’t view what’s the duration of the song also the Home Screen doesn’t really load for some reason.

And also I did find out a way to view the song duration that's currently playing that was from hovering over the voice channel I'm currently in and it told me what was the duration of the song.

I mean discord has an AFK channel setting and if I set my voice Channel as a discord AFK channel then if the bot is not already in the voice channel when I set this then it gets muted on join by Discord's AFK voice system since you can't speak in a Discord AFK voice channel

But as I said in the thread, there is a workaround: if I kick rythm from the voice channel, set another voice channel as an AFK channel, then I /join the bot and after that I set the voice channel as an AFK channel again then it won't get muted until it disconnects and rejoins. And with the vc lock feature I use is convenient since you don't need a server administrator in the server to mess with the settings so people can listen to music in an AFK channel... But there are a lot of times according to my logs that the Rythm Bots get disconnected and essentially rejoin the voice channels that they are locked to and due to this it doesn't retain its unmuted status and will get it's microphone muted because of Discord's AFK channel system

Basically the first part yes, but the second part is not true. If I invite it to another channel it will join unmuted already without problems

Also wouldn't it be Resource saving to have the bots' headset muted? Like they can't hear anyone in the voice channels, I heard from a bot dev that they did this so they can save resources, but I did suggest a use-case for this: #1371881610579804234

Hmmm okay so it sounds like this is likely not something we can fix. I'll look into it regardless but Discord suppresses you in those channels so I don't believe we can force the bot to unmute itself in these cases. It's also probably not a great idea for us to mess with users' channels in their servers just in case they don't actually want this behavior. Since we do have to restart the bot occasionally to push out updates, we also can't promise that it just simply wont leave and reconnect sometimes.

Unfortunately this might end up just as an unsupported use-case

Well one solution would be to have the bot unset the afk channel before it joins and set it back when it rejoined, that could solve it without too much trouble with additional permission for that to function. Only this method works

I think we probably wont do that just to ensure users aren't confused, we've allocated a tooon of resources to Rythm to ensure its smooth so we're focusing instead on smooth user experiences and clear usage mechanics

Okay! we looked into this and spent some time debugging, we came to the conclusion that this is actually an issue with the library we use to interface with the Discord API, so not something we can directly fix immediately. Click on the "edit default playlist" button and enter any Spotify or Rythm playlist link. Spotify playlists will be automatically converted into Rythm playlists! Once you've done that it should be ready to go

I don't believe you can shorten it, it has to match the role name in your server. You can make two DJ roles, one you designate by manually naming it & then just creating one named DJ. Both will be DJ roles! Do you have a system in your server where having multiple DJ roles would be helpful?

Yeah that's actually something we were juuuust talking about improving the messaging for, failure tends to happen if the playlist you're importing is set to private

If your playlist is private, try making it public & then waiting about a minute & then try again

Hi, i have a question, How did a Rythm comeback in 2024 after Rythm was shut down due to legal notice recieved by YouTube, and what did Rythm do before getting comeback in 2024?

Hihi! We had two big primary changes. The first one, which was the entire reason we were allowed to come back at all, is that we licensed music content. We got in touch with the major labels of the world & got their content licensed so that we would have the legal rights to stream the music. Just like any other standard music streaming app you'd see today!

The second biggest thing that happened was the introduction of the activity. Before Rythm ever shut down, or even before music bots in general ever even started getting shut down, we wanted to expand Rythm into its own platform. Music bots are really cool, but there's a big limit to the things you can achieve through them since they don't have a visual UI. That gave birth to working with Discord to introduce and pave the way for an activity that wasn't a video game, but an actual application.
