Footsteps

The concept of footprints being left behind as you walk, they could possibly be in 3D but maybe not because of technical limitations. But they could be high res or 16x, pixels on blocks could be darkened where they player walks.

what would this be used on aside from mud though?

and sand physics have already been suggested several times and im sure they also meant to include footsteps so really what is this suggestion offering other than just footsteps for mud blocks and other squishy/grainy blocks

i was thinking the footsteps would apply to every block, as a 2d sprite or something more complicated

Yeah but isn’t that too much? Because not everything leaves behind footprints especially considering Minecraft characters are technically bare-footed most the time lmao

However it would be cool to see mud being tracked along other blocks if you step into mud
HOWEVERRRR this would be extremely cheaty for public servers since players could set mud traps to see players footsteps

that might be true yes, footsteps shouldn't be left on concrete unless it's wet
