basically liquid physics but its like the water overhaul mod but with a falling effect or a splash effect when you jump off a cliff into the water

Wouldn't that happen automatically because your character is displacing the water?

granite rock
#

Current ocean physics doesn't actually simulate the water particles

#

so no

#

it would not

gritty nimbus
#

oh ok

granite rock
#

no i was talking to the golden snail

gritty nimbus
#

oh ok

#

i think this could be possible

granite rock
#

yeah, it would definitely be possible.

gritty nimbus
#

nice

granite rock
#

Just requires getting the player velocity and position upon contact with the water's surface and using that to update a displacement map layer (the ocean physics already has a displacement map) as well as create particle effects

#

so it's more than doable

gritty nimbus
#

oh ok

#

hold on lemme try find a vid of what could be possible

was watching the video of how haubna is doing the expiremental water physics tech and couldn't help byt think it made think of slime once it lost it physics momentum i wonder if he plans on making it flow and behave like regural water if the water is in slope or high blocks?

gritty nimbus
#

prob

wheat fulcrum
#

(note the above is not negetive critic just pointing out what it made me think of)

gritty nimbus
#

oh okay

#

btw

#

i can see the pros and cons with this

#

1stly it would be very nice to see flowing water like the animations

#

but

#

if it goes into water

#

there might be glitches

#

but i do think this could change water entirely

wheat fulcrum
#

i agree on that but likely making the the water source or the orbs that enable the physics will likely need to smaller once optimization done of course since i personally dont know how that water will look without shaders >.<
my laptop cant handle shaders sadly

gritty nimbus
#

like i think if this was a feature in the physics mod it would definately be awesome cuz u could mess around with the water

#

also

#

mine barely works with shaders

#

but

#

luckily

#

i found a shaderpack

#

that runs nicely

#

with realistic water

#

would you like to know what shaders i use so you could mess around with the settings?

wheat fulcrum
#

i usually run packs that have 200+ mods in them so even low end shaders chug my laptop X.x
i run a GTX 1650 with an outdated i5 9300 cpu

gritty nimbus
#

to make it lagless

#

oh

#

i have a decent computer

safe verge
gritty nimbus
#

is your computer / laptop decent or extreme?

safe verge
#

well, rtx laptop

wheat fulcrum
#

it's good enough to run ff7 remake

#

but for whatever reason minecraft with shaders?
my laptop is like NOPE

gritty nimbus
#

my pc can run the shader makeup ultrafast

#

i recommend u try that

#

it should work

#

it seems to run fine when almost nothing is on

#

but

gritty nimbus
#

it still looks amazing

wheat fulcrum
#

i've tried both honestly fabric had better results but it eventually gets laggy after abit

gritty nimbus
#

but the possibilities with the realistic water physics

#

it would be awesome

safe verge
#

did you try iris with quilt?

gritty nimbus
#

its basically like liquid physics but used with water buckets

wheat fulcrum
safe verge
#

hm

gritty nimbus
wheat fulcrum
#

at least i haven't tried it honestly

#

but yeah back on topic the water physics are great for the record of what haubna is trying to do!
however an important question comes to mind about what he's trying to do.
How would that work with infinite water sources and mods that cause water to spread hyperthin or not be infinite?

gritty nimbus
#

i think if this post gets enough attention haubna might do this

safe verge
gritty nimbus
#

nice

safe verge
#

quilt is for continuity for 1.19.3 and +

wheat fulcrum
#

i use 1.19.2 , 1.12.2 and 1.16.5 as the game versions i use most often tho 💀
