So point, technique, explanation of technique, evidence of technique, and link to point
explaination with reference to the evidence
use PEEL
evidence first, then explaination
Okay
yeah a tip that i was given is to always ask ur self why the author did that
how do we write a good topic statemnt
Thats in the link right
yeah
"the HL rubric specifically states that your analysis has to be comparative (it must focus on the similarities/differences between the two texts)" is this true cuz ive been getting 6's in my english hl and never compared both the texts?
for paper 1 or 2?
p1
for paper 1, on the front page of the examination (at least the practice papers ive seen), it says you must "write two separate guided analyses of the texts" or something along those lines
exactly what im saying
this is paper 2
paper 1 is separate
but the IB Eng LangLit Guide from this discord says "Also, the HL rubric specifically states that your analysis has to be comparative (it must focus on the similarities/differences between the two texts)—don’t just discuss them on their own!" and "(HL) Divide your discussion equally between your texts.
Don’t spend 90% of your response talking about Text A and only 10% of your response glossing over Text B!"
i know 😭
i think its an outdated one
yeah might be cuz i almost had a heart attack, im like dude ive never done ts
english ll helpers are a bit preoccupied but they should be organising/removing old resources
ah alr, this was posted recently so i thought it would be updated, oh well its alright
huh
it might be HLE
idt paper 1 has separate rubrics 😭
HLE is 1 text
my thoughts exactly
bruh im cooked
thats the super super old syllabus aint ut
it
p1 used to be comparative
Ahhh alright
am i supposed to know hard quotes for paper 2?
no...
like wdym hard - like long quotes?
like down to the page and line number
ohh ok then no u dont have to but u should provide sufficient context abt the quote's situation
how many quotes did yall memorize
this sh is over now 🙏

cramming my life away rn
does it matter if you use the most "optimal" piece of evidence? my teacher said they often dock marks if you use like an anaphora instead of a symbol that would be more pertinent, but she also encourages the use of unique insightful evidence, what determines the difference between insightful and being "non-optimal"
like, she said for dolls house everyone uses tarentela so dont use it as a crutch, but sometimes thats just the best piece of evidence
not optimal would prob mean ur link of that device does not strongly support the author's intent or the text's purpose. insightful means that u can make a strong connection between the device and the text's intent
so lwk its not a matter of what device u use, but as long as u can link it back to the text's intent and answer the question then ur good
obv if its a device thats so far off and its context is completely unrelated then u would lose marks
Also I’m still suprised the slow down thing is still on 😭
no
Nevermind im skeptical on my p2 now im scared if i get a 5 im gonna end it all lwk im overthinking
Don’t worry too much abt p2
The prompts r gonna generic enough to fit whatever u prepared
relying on my manipulation skills so i can skew the question fr
Make them forget what the og question was 😹
when u prepare nothign lol
me af
Cooked
so like i already have the texts i want to use but i realized we watched the barbie movie as part of our lang and lit curriculum and i feel like it would be cool to include what yall think
