Im in the same boat. My GM and I joked that I would be insufferable if I played either of the new classes. My current Champion already gives them enough trouble w/ encounter balance lmao.
I'm probably gonna introduce one of our other players to Guardian though when I get a chance b/c it seems like it fits the fantasy of what they keep trying to do with their current character much better than what they are currently playing.

Captain is an archetype, so more like a feat line anyone can take. Commander and Guardian are entire new classes, with Commander giving allies chances to attack on the Commander's turn, while Guardian is all about running in front of hits for your allies and taunting your enemies.

I’ll be sticking with the first edition and seeing what the community comes up with for Heresy, personally. A good chunk of the rules were stuff I was looking to get away from in the more modern versions of 40K, so it’s not to my taste. Going to be making conversion sheets for my friend group to use the newer stuff, though. The new Saturnine Terminators have grown on me

I haven't had a chance to really dig into the 3rd ed heresy rules, but for me 2nd ed heresy was a really fun game, I didn't mind it at all. It felt like you could actually do things to affect your/your opponent's army outside of your own turn, which helped deal with the big problem I had with 40k - That being, you just sort of sit and watch as the enemy kills a bunch of your models.

With the Saturnine models, I like them. not a massive amount, but they're not awful. That said, the difficult to produce/maintain aspect doesn't really hit with the World Eaters. Even at the height of the great crusade, I can't see them wanting to do delicate, detailed work to keep these suits of armour running.

the GODDAMN poles that you are supposed to attach the Age Of Sigmar Morrsarr Guard to are genuenly the worst decision ever

For context; The Morrsarr Guard are a unit in the Idoneth Deepkin that are elves riding giant eels. Pretty cool right?

The issue is the connection point between the pole that is supposed to attach them to their base and the model is FLAT, so it is very easy for the model to become wonky or break off

Just read up amd saw it's pathfinder damn, my knowledge is on 5e unfortunately

I feel the problem tho, was playing a shadow monk in a campaign and somewhere along lvl 5 I just got really bored of it, but in talking with dm we decided ok let's turn u into a druid then and reflavor the backstory a little to accommodate that which worked fine

And my friends barely remember I started that campaign of as a monk for the first 8 or so sessions

Bard is a very strong class in PF2e, though if you don't find fun in the support aspect of it, I can see why it might not appeal. Its strength is heavily in the fact that you're always supplying that +1 to attack rolls and damage rolls (or other rolls depending on how you build), which can often convert a miss into a hit, or a hit into a crit. If it helps your mindset, whenever an ally does hit or crit thanks to your buff, you should recognize that that's damage that you contributed, even if it's dice that they're rolling.

Once you get to 2 and you can fight things lower then you more, a +1 is giving more crits or more hits on higher lvls

Yeah while early levels and especially lvl 1 are 'better' in PF2e than in, say, DnD 5e. There are definitely some problems that can arise such as the martial/caster strength at early levels.

Thankfully the disparity in power balances out after a few levels

Dawnsbury days is pretty good. It's a little cringe at times but in that good kinda cringe. It's very much meant to be a solo game that helps you kinda get into the rules. They make a few changes to the 2e system to fit a video game

It's been a while since I cracked open my 5e book library but an Idea you could go with is to have a bunch of simple trash mob zombies (around 4-8 a group) with maybe some "Specialists" to provide some extra muscle. Think along the lines of having a Corrupted priest supporting the mass with True strike/ Cure Wounds or a hulking mass of vines acting like a barbarian.

I have dnd tonight and i had to provide 5 important memories of my girl Sage
Here are the ones i ended up with:

1. When she was 13 and had the last talk with Cael, in a way it was her first heartbreak just not of romantic nature. He explained to her that he leaves to be with someone he loves dearly and that he wants a family with her. He promised to come visit her every season and gifted her the book he always wrote in the things he teached her about life. She has been turning to his notebook everytime she needs comfort or advice.

2. When Sage was begging for someone to help and heal her family, promising to do and give whatever she has to, and fallon appeared in her room, offering her help in exchange for her soul and labour. To which she instantly agreed without thinking twice about it.

3. When she hunted down a Artefakt for Fallon close to the beginning of her work for him. Curiosity got the better of her and she used the Artefakt. It caused a big fire and the people in that kingdom blamed her for it. Since then she wears her disguise, but also does not question fallon anymore.

4. When she gave Finn the potion to forget about her, she was staying up at night, watching him sleep and crying. He woke up from the crying, sleepily asked her whats wrong. She said "i'm gonna miss you" and he said "I'm here no matter what" and then cuddled her while falling asleep again.

5. (Kind of a continuation of number 3) When she got her first punishment from fallon for not following his instructions and rules. She had messed around with things she was not supposed to mess with and he punished her relentlessly for it. The scar on her shoulder is still a reminder of it.

These events inspired her to try and seek change within her house by embracing the newly established Three Pillars and by reforming along the Ideals of Liberty and equality of all peoples, To her immense disappointment however she was meet with an unreceptive audience in court and was even mocked by her Older Sister Atiyya for believing that the ideals of a failed civilisation and an anarchic and (supposedly) weak central committee should have any place within The Concern.

In 4600.u things began to rapidly change as the first interest war kicked off with Karrakin pre-emptive assault on the Dawnline Shore. Whilst she had formally passed education with distinction and well versed in 3 Languages (Karradin, English and Spanish) she was seen as the black sheep of House Granite's ruling family with Atiyya Markesh becoming the Heir presumptive to the house. As a result she was ordered by her father to begin training in operating, maintaining and fighting in combat mechs. While the Standard GMS Everest class wasn't to her personal liking though she did see the potential of the Chomolungma chassis with regards to its powerful EW capabilities. As Khaleela was completing her fast tracked 9-month Mech training regimen it was expected that she would be sent off to front with Harrison armoury however events transpired that would alter the trajectory of her life massively.

2 months after her Mech Pilot certification, Ludra's world exploded into revolution. Khaleela whilst not knowing the core reason behind the rebellion saw an opportunity to "Claim glory" in her father's words and to remain close to Tilimsan in case politics in her native house change, formally applied to serve on the Karrakin Trunk Security to assist in reclaiming Ludra's world. Whilst the request was first meet with confused interest it was eventually approved by her father. Whilst she missed the initial landings she was part of the second wave of landings in a Electronic Warfare section tasked with interrupting any communications available to the Ungratefuls. As she set to working on silencing Ungrateful comms she rapidly began to sympathise with the plight of the rebels due to their ideals and their circumstances. She eventually managed to get in contact with the rebels under the alias of "Nuha" and began to secretly pass on sensitive information regarding Barony transponder codes and EW Techniques.

As time went on Khaleela began to experiment with different means of Human to mech interfacing that could allow a faster transfer of information on more secure connections to limit the chances of detection by the Baronies after a close call from Baronic Intelligence looking into unusual data traffic. Eventually she discovered a means of using an SSC supplied Neuralink, an Omninode and a IPS-N Transponder reconfigured into an encryption engine. While it was able to provide additional data securely to the Ungratefuls it wasn't without it's faults, suffering from several technical glitches (Particularly with the interactions between the Omninode and the Transponder with the transponder limiting the amount of data sent to ensure the connection was safe) as well as feeling "Shivers" and weightlessness whenever she was using it.

Then in 4602.u Khaleela was informed of her impending transfer to the Dawnline shore at the request of Atiyya to join her along with the newly formed House company in fighting Harrison Armoury. This was the worst case scenario as it would place her lightyears away from Tilimsan and leave her unable to assist the Ungratefuls. As a result she decided to perform one more Data transfer to the Ungratefuls but this time she would weaken the encryption to ensure more data could be sent swiftly. While this made the connection more susceptible to intercepts and detection she was willing to take it as the Baronies had recently sealed off all Off-world communication. What she didn't expect however was that something had been watching the transmissions from the Omninode and had taken an interest.

`Shortly after she had begun the transfer she began to feel a force tugging at the back of her mind in addition to the "Shivers" and the weightlessness but even worse than before with the Omninode itself beginning to violently vibrate and rattle on it's own accord. This feeling grew in intensity until she tried to shut off the connection, by that point she had lost her sense of touch, smell and taste and her movements were lethargic and poorly coordinated. Beginning to panic she began flailing her arms to see if she could deactivate it but to no effect. Then the Omninode exploded and tore open a rift to the blink which She and her mech were sucked into.

Whilst in Blinkspace her she lost all of her senses as she was drifting through the weightless void, feeling like her mind was being torn apart and being put back together. This sensation lasted for an unknown amount of time until she reappeared in an unknown place and a unknown time.`

Introduced one of the ppl in my Pathfinder 2e group to Guardian because imo it fits the playstyle they've been trying to do for their character way better than what they are currently playing. They are 100% down to try it and the GM is also down for the switch.
Unfortunately, they are the kind of person who is very busy and really doesn't think about Pathfinder at all outside of our weekly sessions. Which means finding time to actually sit down with them and help them remake the character has proven to be a struggle.

I know the pain. One of my friend groups i used to play in (got bored of 5e) only plays 5e. Mainly cause 2 people refuse to learn other systems, I totally not tried to convert the others to pf2e by making pf2e versions of thier characters

The good news is they are at least committed to the game and we are all having fun.
My group also made the switch from 5e to pf2e w/ basically a sequel campaign to our Curse of Strahd campaign.
The 5e to pf2e conversions went surprisingly easy for all of our characters except the Satyr Lich/Warlock (long story). I could go on for a long time about the fun we had with that process.
With the one player though, its fortunately just a matter of them not having had time to sit down and yap.
I've basically already built a Guardian version of their character, but since they definitely are the least game savvy of the group, I don't want to just force a build on them. Especially since I'm just another player and not the GM.

Warlock is one of the 5e classes that's harder to convert. Since thematically you have witch but it doesn't match mechanically

What I find ironic is that, with how progression works, Warlock is also the closest to classes in pathfinder. With the fact that you choose which additional invocations(feats) you want each level or so.

One of the Members of the Party I DM has the Callsign of "Detroit" (Mainly cause of the "You can't have Shit in Detroit" meme), He's VERY fond of Improvised Explosive Devices (Though he would thoroughly disagree with the "Improvised" Moniker) and likes to Play "Hopscotch" with the enemy (Which generally involves the enemy trying (and failing) to avoid the literal sea of mines). One notorious event was the party encountering one of the BBEGs in a neutral city. They struck up a conversation about Philosophy and the morals of ending the universe, during the conversation the Trolley Problem was mentioned and that the suffering of the few is needed to ensure the creation of paradise (By Blowing up the universe). On hearing this Detroit agreed, Grabbed the BBEG by the throat with his prosthetic arm and triggered the directed explosive charge concealed within. Needless to say they were expelled from the city.

Quick update on the player I introduced to the pf2e Guardian a couple weeks ago:
He is in love with the "Get down Mr President!" playstyle.
In our previous session he took 60+ damage without being targeted by an attack during a nighttime ambush.

Im aiming for it to be a bit of a siege encounter, so they're only rolling for crits. Due to low gravity as its basically an entity with cosmic magic they can jump between platforms. Alongside buffs they'll receive during battle, and probably other buffs that are indirect to their characters

Just have to see if our druid decides they want to invoke their one-use spell to summon either the Jabberwock or the Cheshire Cat from the Feywild to help them out

Hard Yes! It's super cool. The player rules are free for everyone but as Progresso has said the GM rules you do need to purchase. There's also a wide variety of first party and a labyrinth of third party content that is exquisite. I can give a few recommendations for adventure s to start on if you want.

I will add are your players big into combat. Lancers combat while not hard to learn is the bulk of the rules and the game expects you to buy into the Tactical combat

Its a fantastic system but if you have players that get overwhelmed with 5e or pf2e combat,it might be hurtle

Yea lancer is a mech TTRPG focused on players being Lancers (In one of the campaign ideas I have they are also called Cavealers due to KTB being weird),which is a term for an elite pilot. Most people can pilot mechs but a lancer (or their other names) are talented at the piloting,building their mechs,and being in a flow state that other regular pilots might not get. Setting as a whole takes place in the far flung future after earth society collapsed and rebuilt itself as union. Current time in the setting is 5016u (they reset the calender when union was created), and the union is ran by the 3rd commitee who want to bring upon a post scarcity untopia. It's a hopeful setting as in most campaigns you are part of union trying to help people have a better life usually.

The campaign that people seem to be leaning towards,takes place in one of the client states of the union. The karrakin trade baronies,which is a client state that has a big focus on noble houses. Very elden ring,dune,etc inspired stuff.

The Karrakin trade baronies or KTB is the oldest human civilization in history and it's home world is the most population dense planet. With the palace on that planet being 4million square miles and that's not including the city surronding the palace.

The mechs themselves are cold fusion powered mechs that have differnt ideas. Some are simple mechs that like to be big armor and carry a minigun. Others walking nanite swarms or a mech that is built to carry a ship based weapon on it.

Probably big from an TTRPG stand point is lancer is a bit combat heavy as a game and the fights in the game aren't usually just kill the enemies. Most fights have an objective like hold points,escort something,etc.

So it can come out to be a bit wargamey

Wouldn't that be DM dependent by the sounds like if it's an objective base the DM could play it out say hold/defend said infrastructure for the local group so you can establish and set up connections to the place. Say the night/day before you go scout the place and interact with some locals

So i am making their background feylost, they're the son of high standing courtier (mother) and a handservant (father) of two fey courts. He was deeply loved by his parents but under orders of the court of autumn to go into hiding as his father is of a lower class than his mother which was considered highly offensive to the Court of Summer.

He took the name of Yhor'rha Guul and the bestowal of a 4 ringed sword and was transformed into a hexblood in order to hide his heritage further. He spent many years wandering alone in the feywild as a teen only to somehow find his way into the material plane.

I might of thought of a greater idea for my hexblood warlock.

They're an orphan that was abducted by a hag to make another (i won't go into the lore of that as its messed up how hags are made), said had was cut down by an archfey, adopted by them and their partner. Had a very fun Pathfinder session last night.
Turns out a Holy Champion with Void Healing who happens to not cast a shadow is VERY effective at fighting Shadows
