#Significantly More Stealth For Nuclear Subs

Diesel subs have Stealth of 18, while Nuclear Subs have Stealth of 20.
But IRL diesel subs could only remain submerged (=concealed) for short periods b'cos the engines had to "breath". While nuclear subs can go months submerged.

How do the engines breathe in diesel submarines? Don't internal combustion engines need a lot of oxygen to run? Where would all of this oxygen come from when the sub is underwater?

so what are you suggesting? Nuclear Subs should have higher steath skill because they can submerge longer? But Diesel Sub are inherently more silent because they don't use noisy reactors for propulsion, only batteries .. so perhaps its the diesels that should be more stealthy

Combustion is noisy

I googled it and it seems diesel submarines work by running their engines to power batteries which sustain them for periods at a time underwater. Nuclear submarines constantly have their reactors running. When diesel subs are running their engines to charge the batteries, they are louder than the nuclear subs. When they are running on their batteries they are quieter than nuclear subs.

Like you mentioned they do need to come up more often to "let their engines breath." Personally, because nuclear subs can stay underwater longer but are louder overall I think the small difference in stealth is ok. Also, gameplay wise, if you're going up in tech you want your newer units to be better than the old ones, even if it's just a bit.

Tehnically we have 2 stealth stats. stealth recharge strenth and stealth buffer. Logically the Nuclear Reactor should have a longer steath buffer as they can remain submerged for longer while the diesel submarine should be able to hide faster once detected as they can go battery mode and therefore could have a higher recharge speed. This would make diesels more effective in short engagement as they can stealth faster while nuclear submarine could stay in a hostile region longer before they get detected.

Fission doesn't produce sound

Nuclear subs are so far more advanced at stealth than diesel subs. That is not reflected in a 2-point difference between the two units.
