I’ve been debating looting as many as I can hold, going into my tent, throwing them all on the floor, taking everything out, and then repeating until I’m done. And then trashing them all in there.

Poolparty doesn’t work with a hidden trashcan and I haven’t figured out how to update it yet, so I’m back to doing the pool manually more or less until I manage that. I do not like eloot— it’s overly complicated and constantly breaks

The fact they haven’t answered tells me, “so the current plan is not to include FWI access. But we’re running the user feedback up through dev and mans that will change. But for now, don’t expect it. The purpose of the area is to make the game challenging from new perspectives.”

Any reason there is still no TRASH can in the locksmith pool? I'd prefer to NOT drop my stuff on the ground there, but not having a TRASH receptacle is pushing me to do this. Which is likely not what we want done as too many items dropped will cause issues for the game as a whole.

Super petty, but the primary reason I bailed on SG and went back to HW was the lack of a trash can anywhere. This game generates too much junk and it felt weird just dropping it all somewhere.

There is a part of me that is actually cool with no FWI access. It could create a little pocket ascension area a little more free (more free?) from the automation crowd.

If that were the case, however, we would need a place to drop collectables, too. Maybe an herb shop?

I think its really funny complaining about pollution in a text based game. Maybe we can make it an RP thing. Elect a mayor of SG. Hire and army of FTPs to Clean Contempt Continuously, "Running on my C, C, C plan, you'll never look at trash again!"

Also, yeah the FWI access lack is kind of growing on me. I wont be there full time if that's the case, but I'll at least be there part time (edit: maybe that's the point?)

sand prism

I am sure all this stuff will be weeded out eventually but it would be hilarious if the room has 100s of stacked boxes

#

I left SG for now because there was no healer. I have no preference between healer, herbalist, or FWI access, as long as I don’t have to sail to get wounds/scars fixed up when empaths are not actively healing. I have a stocked herb kit, but it only delays that trip back

sand prism
night thicket
#

I'm curious why communication is always so delayed. I would like to understand the design decision behind the swimming mechanics and such, like just to get an idea behind their ideas and concepts with designing these areas.

The silence on FWI is pretty frustrating. I understand not wanting to overcommit because maybe there are technical reasons why... but just say that. Or does it need some approval process, again, just glimpses into the backend of things are nice to know

Would definitely be cool if they had a sitdown meeting with the captain to welcome the new adventurers and maybe explain the goals or happenings in the area

FWI access can only be achieved via a powerful local artifact that runs on locked boxes. 1,000 boxes per month must be sacrificed to keep it running....

Surprised there is a pawnshop in SG but not HW.

Fwi not doing much, its really only the ppl too lazy to stock up on herbs since locksmith pool is really the biggest barrier to farming and they got that.

If the plan is to keep a noticeable higher amount of friction in SG to prevent the Pipe Denification of the area, I can't even be too mad at that. A trash can and a herbalist and people can just make do... I do think those two things are pretty key though.

willow ginkgo

# twin pine Is it against policy to set up a script to have an alt auto exchange herbs for s...

i'm guessing it would fall under Character "Bots", unless providing herbs is materially different than providing spells. From Policy 18:

Character "Bots"

For the purpose of this policy, a character "bot" is defined as any character that is either responsive or unresponsive to the gaming environment that uses any sort of trigger which can be executed by third parties to perform automatic "services" such as healing, lockpicking, spell casting, etc.```
twin pine
#

Hrm — maybe “etc.”

vague goblet
#

Yeah, that's basically the exact scenario described by botting.

twin pine
#

It’s vague enough it isn’t clearly prohibited! — (edit: selling an item is providing “goods” not “services”).

stuck mural
#

i think it's extremely clear

light ruin
#

Tell it to the judge. Getting tapped and providing a herb is providing a service, am I going insane? It's super clearly botting

vague goblet
#

Doing anything automatically based on a trigger (whisper in this case) without being attentive is prohibited

twin pine
#

That’s not what the policy says. I hear that’s the intent and what the common understanding is. I’m not doing it, don’t worry, just asked the question.

stuck mural
left quartz
#

Making it a town would solve so many problems.

light ruin
twin pine

Naw, I would suggest adding the term “good or service” then there’s no ambiguity.

light ruin
#

uses any sort of trigger which can be executed by third parties to perform automatic "services" you know what i'm being bad faith trolled, i'm out lol

novel panther
#

providing spells and providing herbs are both a service though

jaunty hamlet
#

I mean sure this is basically a textbook example of exactly what's in the policy. but... what if we pretend it isn't for personal gain?

twin pine
#

Yes, it is a bot. But a bot is not prohibited. Only a bot that provides services. At least that’s how the policy is drafted. I’m not trolling, I’m lawyering why the written policy creates ambiguity that is at odds with the intent.

light ruin
#

This is sov cit behavior

jaunty hamlet
vague goblet
#

It is my understanding that all versions bot are prohibited. Any character that responds automatically to any input (whisper, tap, thought, etc) to perform any action constitutes botting.

I think the policy could just be "to perform automatic actions of any kind"

So I was thinking about other options while we're missing some amenities.

We COULD, without breaking policy, toss a backpack somewhere on the Contempt and fill it with herbs in a whole "take a penny, leave a penny" kind of situation. Just have a rando alt sit there to guard it from the janitor.

Also, I have an extra basketfier I could lend to the cause if someone wants to set up a temporary bin (you'd need to come back to it to refresh every 2 hours though).

Annnnnd, I have some extra astral vault scrolls for people who want to just store stuff to deal with later.

Just some options I was braining on while procrastinating doing actual work.

#

The backpack thing is something we tend to do every pay fest for swapping out vault prize pile stuff (rollers, widget gears, etc) and it works fairly well. Sometimes we can even talk (beg, plead, offer bribes) a GM into adding a stayput tag to it so we don't have to monitor it.

strange yacht
#

I should use my astral vault for herbs. Hmm. Potions would take up space, but bundled solid herbs could be fairly efficient as 50per

zealous thunder
#

keep a stocked herb kit in the vault? Does that help with item count and stock levels?

strange yacht
#

hmm, might. Would get 50 extra potions for relatively easy access, but if you're too wounded, still couldn't get to it

left quartz
#

So I just tested it:

Magic Items [1]: a shiny tkaro root
Herbs [3]: a bunch of woth flower, some aloeas stem, a bunch of aloeas stem

  The kit contains DOSEs of the following solid herbs: acantha (150), ambrominas (150), wolifrew (146), basal (121), ephlox (149), aloeas (150), pothinir (150), cactacae (121), torban (143), haphip (132), calamia (103), woth (150), sovyn (108). Thalassophobia is an intense and persistent fear of large bodies of water, like the ocean or deep lakes, characterized by overwhelming anxiety in their presence. It differs from aquaphobia, which is a general fear of water. While not a distinct diagnosis, its symptoms fall under the category of specific phobias in the DSM-5, and can be managed with therapies like exposure therapy and coping strategies such as breathing exercises

Near a driftwood trestle table erected on the ship's grey-green deck, the railing has given way to permit a dangerous but thorough view of the ship's starboard hull. Despite the great age of the vessel and its considerable disrepair, there are the bones of a sleek and predatory ship beneath the decay. The timbers around her portholes are painted in silver gilt and emerald lacquer to form radiating streamers of kelp. Dripping sarcasm isn't always obvious in text. Also it doesn't really seem like you have a reason to believe the MA group is full of "zombies," whatever that means.

If it makes you feel any better, it would be the same scenario if they were groups of 2 or 3 all hunting at the same time.

But the fact that big groups make it hard for small groups to hunt in the area is something people have discussed lots - I'm sympathetic! I think it usually comes up in the context of the Scatter, though perhaps that's just the most recent issue.

Fortunately, SG at least has separate spawn areas that you might retreat to.

The 17 person MA team does basically shut the zone down for anyone who isn’t in a similarly sized group. That isn’t SG specific. My mains have 60 and 50ish million exp each and would get chalked up in that scenario. But “MA isn’t a problem” is what we are told when this happens lol.

So this feels like a bug, it's a 309 cast at a primordial which hex had put thought lash on. My runestaff has no electrical flares (acuity+valence which is disintegration which you see flaring). So I'm not sure if it's just pulling the word energy and invoking the primordial backlash or if that's intended but thought lash is a mental spell not a physical electricity or if its because the valence phrase is an energy burst or if there's some other reason I'm missing.

this is directly from the staff analyze:```Additionally, the weapon will have a standard chance to flare with disintegration damage on successful attacks. Each unlocked tier allows a chance for another successive flare to occur if the previous one was successful, with diminishing chances per flare.```
Looks like it's definitely the interaction with valence:
```Your skin is suffused with a subtle gold glow as you pray to your patron for assistance with Bane.
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at a fulminating stormborn primordial.
Your rusalkoren runestaff glows intensely with a verdant light!
740 should work simply because it works everywhere else IMO.
I don't have a problem with the climbing but I also have 202 ranks in it now. The one thing I wish climbing with that many ranks did was allow me to mantle more pathways with items in my hands instead of having to put them away on certain climbs and not on others.
The swimming doesn't bother me at all, but I also don't view hunting as a race or in a need of max efficiency all the time. I don't sense every room as I swim and when you have a general reference for where you are, it's easy to know where all three areas are in relation to the Contempt.
Could be made more interesting if there were sea-creatures you could fight as well in Spicer's itself, like the ones that wander the desert in the Sanctum.
I'd like the spell sever affect to be removed from the Contempt, and for the celerity boon to not be counted towards my SK count so that it doesn't knock off one of the spells I have up when it hits me.
Pretty sure the Obelisk is working as intended. Once the dock handler made it their Auchand changed it to work far less frequently and on a global use timer. He's stated before that it's meant to be an easter egg and not as a reliable way to return back to the mainland. I've used it a couple times over last week during EG, though nobody was really in and out of SG at that time so that's probably why.
spice dew
and sorcs need to be able to target talon eventually, imo
lyric folio
#
Gating the travel behind real-money purchases or profession-specific mechanics would be disappointing for me. I'm not saying those shouldn't be viable ways to get to the contempt quickly, but I don't think they should be the only way.
I think of it like the hive: accessing the hunting area from town is easy, but accessing the town itself is a bit of a hassle, which feels reasonable.
If KF's ascension area is SG, then it feels to me like accessing SG from KF (which is already non-trivial to get to) should be fast and easy. But maybe that's the wrong lens. All I know is that I was hoping I could set myself up on KF and live that island life while easily popping to/from SG to hunt, and it doesn't seem like that's really an option.
Note that none of this has anything to do with my feelings re: hunting in SG. I think it's an awesome area in all its design elements; I don't even mind the swimming! But isolating it from something that's already isolated feels like a hat on a hat to me.
