#[Official] Sailor's Grief
1 messages · Page 3 of 1
Use the SWIM verb.
ugh. Of course. Duh. Jeez
Since wizard gate, gold rings, 225, etc all work, would it be possible to please fix 740 travel in sailors grief? There are no rooms we can sense anywhere that I can see.
Crow's Nest as the node. Can't wait for 30 people crammed into a crow's nest. Lol
Am I just not seeing a trash can?
#1393754345484320848 message
Everywhere is a trashcan and everywhere is a toilet
Oh is that why I was disposing of empty boxes in ocean
it all just floats away to solhaven
I dropped mine at a table and did CLEAN TABLE
I was like “why are these here won’t anyone think of the sea turtles”
Toss your chests in the sea, tell Wyrom No taxation without representation
i tried unsuccessfully to get to one of our three tables 😅
Did you have a reservation
Trash cans and tables aside, I really liked SG. With a few QOL updates it'll be awesome.
reservation only
three more than hiwi, but man they fill up quick 😁

Worthwhile mental image.
You analyze the giant boot and sense that the item cannot be altered in any way.
The creator has also provided the following information:
This giant boot can be charged with up to 1000 crystal amulet charges. A single teleport costs 400 charges, andwill transport the owner to a preset room. There is a small chance that the activation will fail, in which case, the boot will lose its charge and will be dead for 24 hours.```
Auchand, update my boot to teleport me to the contempt =p
You swim eastward, navigating the choppy waters with surprising ease.

Would still hopefully see a reduction in RT at 100 swimming ranks which I have. 5 sec seems long
Honestly I had sort of hoped I had a reason to train 2x swimming or 2x climbing but it feels like if it's not here it's not anywhere.
You gesture at a fulminating stormborn primordial.

If you disconnect from the Main Deck of the Contempt, are you supposed to log back in in the water?
hmmmm, the contempt does move...
I guess that would explain it. So I reconnected in the same room that the contempt was in, but fell in the water...
Is that expected behavior? Because its really funny imagining myself logging in then noticing I'm floating above nothing, then plummetting into the water. But I feel the messaging should reflect that 😉
Okay, one more thing.
When jumping off the Contempt, I'm trying to swim east to get to Talon, but no matter what direction I swim, I end up back on the Contempt?

I had the same confusion, and it took me way longer than it should've to figure out 🙂

okay. I'm gone. SG is the worst. lol. (its not actually. Its a really really well designed place. Truly wonderful. Just more difficult than I can manage today)

Flesh merchant, heh that's a funny name for the furrier I supp-- One of the flesh merchant's ears falls off. He reaches into a pocket and replaces it with another one, laboriously sewing the ear back on with some thread and a needle. ose.
Tentacles should not be bounty creatures. I'll fix that.
As The Contempt is not a battleground, could we possibly remove the spell sever affect from it's boundaries? it makes it hard to use enhancive pauses there when it drops spells from SK if you choose to rest there.
Also -- Ive been on the mageborn and while the tentacles are very cool and interesting creatures that were fun to code I am sure-- there's zero treasure and not even a search (does that mean no chance of a gemstone dropping?) -- its been like 12 tentacles and one non-tentacle, that does not entice anyone to want to come hunt here if theres no chance of any loot whatsoever
I'm curious if these have special drops that relate to the boss creature later.
An amaranthine kraken tentacle writhes, twitches and spasms going down its length before it crumples, going still. I mean here there is nothing to indicate that it just poofs
A vibrant forest green lock appears on the ground! woo at least we know this works (from a shark not a tentaclees)
I'll stop live-blogging for now, but don't want this question to go un-answered. One second RT is really something if intentional.
why did your jab not work
it worked on a different creature, I just clean up the non-pertinent stuff. The pertinent stuff is that it was a 2 second attack, and this thing spawned in and attacked me one second later (which led to death)
They don't have 1-second RT.
However, they are pretty quick.
Some fixes: the one piece of creature equipment that was not decaying is now decaying.
Whelks and tentacles can drop items and gems, but not chests or coins.
Creature boxes generated from here on should be more difficult and have better treasure.
Ataum's missing tokens should be fixed.
Did you restock the depends for @flint kiln
That's a nice change to tentacles if they can drop items and gems now.
I'm gonna get so many legendaries from this place and Im gonna sell them for even more ridiculous prices than you my friend 😄
once I pay back the 30 uses of salve just trying to leave said place
They will still decay much faster than other creatures, but there's a chance to catch them if you're quick.
a chance to catch them if you control 5 characters 😅 ok this is not true they hang around for like 3-5 seconds
Now if we could just get that FWI access or locksmith pool...
also for the record this is me complaining that my uncapped character got killed in the hardest hunting zone, I am annoyed but that has passed now ❤️

haven't seen any boxes in the queue yet from this place... I might actually have to go there and get boxes... although I know nothing about this area and what the gotchas are.
There's no pool there so nobody can put boxes in the pool from SG without taking a boat back to civilization
that's a 4 minute ride too right?
Idk I don't do boats
I put some in last night.
someone must of gotten them already. didn't see anything this morning unless it's just buried in there
You pick up an iridescent tempest shell. You put an iridescent tempest shell in your leather book bag.

have you guys been finding dusts in sg?
yes
someone found a klock as well
no gemstones yet that i know of
thats good, if people are getting dusts i'm sure the gemstones will drop as well
They may also have been from the "this box has the difficulty of a hobgoblin" kind too ><
trenchling zerg army will be great for getting searches in though
they're not like the oozes in hw right?
if this is still the intent: They are more of an environmental hazard than anything else, but they'll also be more rare and avoidable. They shouldn't move rooms the way they are currently moving.... then there are way too many tentacles. i can't get into an engagement in the sailor's grief section without two [or more] of them entering the room
If even, yes. It’s 12 ocean “rooms” from KF.
not exactly, they have a cry for help mechanic. but i would consider them individually much more dangerous than oozes.
They’re closer to stalkers in hive which clearly count. I think they already have to be spawned is the big factor vs oozes you can manufacture.
can wizard familiars affect spawn generation / attract creatures?
man the creatures really love to congregate on the one landing spot of the mageborn 😅
You also see an amaranthine kraken tentacle, an amaranthine kraken tentacle, an amaranthine kraken tentacle and a milky-eyed drowned mariner. har har no thanks 🤣

the captain quarters is a node
as a side note if you’re going to use your ship storage, make sure to retract [pull while you’re on, push while you’re off] your gangplank or less savory people can enter your ship and have their way with your stash
Oh a new treasure mechanic?
Oh. That’s what happened to my boxes. Lol.
not sure theft is a new mechanic
tried searching but failed... can anyone share the location of SG on the "sea-charts" map?
I couldn’t get sea-charts to load (GTK error about screen size)
But it’s room 648 using ;ocean-go2
When you get to that room turn wheel port
thanks, i'll give it a try
This is known as Sailor's Grift.
Been trying to make sense of it from the posts in here… is the postmaster fully functional? As long as you travel from KF or Sol, you can get back the same way?
I dont think its Solhaven port, its the Vonarvis port, no idea where that is
Solhaven
I swear I looked at all the solhaven portmaster options and Talon was not on the list. Maybe its only one way from Talon
theres no way to reliably get back to the mainland except the obelisk if your ship despawned. now i have to pay 20k to get my ship sent back to a port
Still no FWI access from SG, right? Will there ever be or is that going to not happen?
Also, is ;go2 working in there yet? It won't stop me from going there. Just curious. Its been fun to kick it old school. (I'm aware ;go2 is not an official question, but a community one)
I don’t have a ship I meant just using the port master option for 20k or whatever it is
i dont think the port master is an option yet
1) Vornavis
2) Kraken's Fall
I should time how long it takes to personally sail from solhaven to talon, I assume its longer than 10 minutes
Has anyone successfully traveled to and from sg using the npc tho. I don’t want to get stuck there considering it isn’t a complete town yet
Should need less than 10. It’s about 10 from sol to of
I'll try to head there now from solhaven
Also I did the solhaven to KF to Talon route last night for like 45k and it seemed pretty fast (Didnt seem like 20 minutes)
I think duffield is currently stranded there cuz his boat like despawned or some other osa voodoo
https://tenor.com/view/wilson-castaway-sea-lost-gif-6160664 (I ran into Duffield last night, he wasnt looking too good)
How much is each portmaster or just Vornavis or KF to Talon? I'll put that on the Wiki since I just added that part. I'll add time estimates too since Wolfloners are there for OAS

wait, is Vornavis port the same as Solhaven? Someone check the options. Its only been like 2 days since release so lots of updates before everything is smooth
Retser is the only person who can unlock the mystery of OSA ☠️
i think its all the same
There’s an obelisk that teleports you to upper trollfang so you can’t get stuck
Literally all my SG hunts are going until mega overencumbered.... swiming to the obelisk while mega encumbered, sprinting past all the baddies and touching the obelisk
Or if I have enough spirit using Darkness which puts you right near the docks now
Marshtown is technically outside of Solhaven in the Vornavis region and a secondary map NW of North Market, but yeah basically
Once I grab my 5-way gold ring from locker this will be much easier
Its almost like Auchand stared at his 5-way gold ring and thought, "I got a great idea for a new hunting grounds!" (while subtly rubbing his precious)
Solhaven = Vornavis
Solhaven exists within the Vornavis Caravansary. Solhaven is the city. Vornavis is the region/"state"
The town hall. Note the Vornavian guard.
[Solhaven Hall, Portico - 13479] (u852002)

I’m pretty sure it isn’t heh
It's Marshtown. Surde's Pier. You inquiring from that port spot?
Oh. Sleeping Drake Harbor is Ornath.
Okay, so you can't sail to SG from solhaven it seems. Also in my research:
LMAO at the map for Glaoveln: https://gswiki.play.net/Isle_of_Glaoveln
atleast for the time being, getting back from sg isnt a big problem

That map is amazing.
Why is there a ship broker, portmasters, and a dockhandler? Why use a different system to travel to SG?
And I think it needs to be made official.
We need to get that man on staff
Sir...
the "ship broker" with an INQUIRE is more like the sleddogs to HW and caravan to SoS. but if there isnt a starting point then its not helpful. Because REASONS ok. REASONS
I understand that it uses that system. I guess my question is: Why?
Because port masters are difficult?
to code?
what you need to do is get everyone on an Ajira flight 316 and fly it over Talon isle
Gotta take the obelisk away first
Not dependent upon OSA.
Also similar to Hinterwilds in that it restricts using the hunting ground as a method to move between Solhaven and Kraken's Fall.
that makes sense, since the caravans are like 3k silver and a 5 minute trip which is preferrable to paying 25k-35k for a 10 minute portmaster.. I suppose we just waiting for news on when the actual other end of said caravans are working (or maybe they are but we cant tell because we all sailed there to start, giving us the "you didnt come from KF, you didnt come from Sol" messaging)
how much is the pormaster from kf/sol and how long does it take to get to grief?
I dont believe it exists
oh i thought that got added yesterday
It'll be added eventually.
It's 20,000
Can’t access FWI from here?
not yet no
My only guess is they want a deliberately small population to live beta the zone before making it more accessible and appealing
can neither confirm nor deny that i ran your pockets 😁
I really don't know why I keep coming back to this place...

Doesn't look like ascension Aura will make a meaningful difference to an endroll like that. My experienceo on Test is the primordials reliably one-shot a KS character and it can't be absorbed so you basically have to kill them before they one-shot you

Despite the great age of the vessel and its considerable disrepair, there are the bones of a sleek and predatory ship beneath the decay. The timbers around her portholes are painted in silver gilt and emerald lacquer to form radiating streamers of kelp. You also see a dead halfling pirate.

Trash can!?
So demanding!
throw it in the ocean
the buccaneer backswords don't decay if you knock them loose:
[The Mageborn, Upper Deck - 35612 - 35612] (u7150505)
You notice a rusted steel backsword with a filigreed brass pommel and a jocular luck spirit (flying).

>get backs
You pick up a rusted steel backsword with a filigreed brass pommel.
Is the buccaneer still alive?
nope i had cleared the room I was wrong I missed it running away but its dead now and the weapon decayed when i looked at it.
A garish revenant buccaneer raises her rusty voice to sing an unearthly shanty, the jaunty melody at odds with the eerie echoes of the tune.
A garish revenant buccaneer is spurred on by the tune!
A pallid fog-cloaked kelpie is spurred on by the tune!
Swirling into an ethereal blue-green mist, a garish revenant buccaneer surges northwest.```

Eloot recognizes it and worked for me.
No trashcan though so eloot drops the box.
Make sure these are unchecked and that you're not attempting to hoard gems and you should be good to go with eloot on the contempt.
Is this the only mob that casts something you can’t KS absorb?
It was a while ago, so hard to remember for sure. Harpies might have had one I couldn't absorb too.
BUG
I am somehow stealing Temporal Reversion from Oracles. I think Tethered Strike may be a culprit. It's annoying because it's causing Spell Sever to remove something useful
nice
i am so lost lol
Empath bloodstones now have microplastics in them, are you happy
it's not a spell it's a "magical maneuver"
i early adopted mine before the pollution
Can we get some undead sea urchins for The Contempt as well? (urchin guide for main spots)
What is this dying you speak of?
Auchand wearing his favorite shirt for the SG release
lol.
Such a good album.
I died 6 times yesterday.
3 times today, then I left for the day to go actually learn something. Maybe I'll bring my cleric with me just fog to me and res me. They should get enough exp that way for it to be worth it.
He had 178 silvers on him.
He had a yellow dreamstone on him!
He had nothing else of value.
You notice a scintillating mote of gemstone dust on the ground and gather it quickly.
A pallid fog-cloaked kelpie's remains shiver and ripple. His body collapses into a puddle of saltwater and rotting sargassum.
You gather the remaining 178 coins.```Looks like gemstones are active here.
Lightning resist goes a long way here
I've noticed lightning resistance doesn't seem to help on the primordial counter when the blade has electricity running up it and shocking me.
yeah I brought my cleric and empath for now, they'll be popping in and out
Man, people just throwing their trash overboard already. It's like that one cruise ship...
I'm dropping me garbage on the beach, just skipping the middle man instead of waiting for it to wash ashore.
I was thinking we could all just toss it in the hold.
Yeah I’ve just been wandering until I see a gangplank and dropping mine on some rando ship.
Is that frowned upon?
no trash cans or goat/raccoon pins?
💩
Thanks to @light badger we now have forageables.
I'll work on trash bins.
I do want to call attention to the fact that Sailor's Grief features some new terrain types.
Specifically Ruins and Open Water.
I saw color coding on the map and was curious if the terrain (jungle, water, ship, rocks (ruins i guess!) played into things
took my first trip out there this evening and really enjoyed it. A lot of spaces to explore, some items to discover, and landmarks to investigate. Neatly done 🙂
Still trying to sort out all the mechanics and mobs. Haven't caught up on the thread, but Primordial DS is the only outlier I noticed. Unlike a lot of ascension creatures you can dispel them to help though. It was very much needed in my case. Not a complaint, just identifying a different problem to solve than some of the other critters
The tentacles are fun, got a welcome hug within minutes of arriving for my first time
Wait, we going to get tasked with "foraging" kelp and seaweed??
you flail around frantically while trying to stay afloat, unable to locate any seawater
Instead of trash bins, just make a system where you can break into someone else's ship just to put all your trash on it.
I love my new spurge. ❤️
How much climbing/swimming does a full plate-wearer need?
Oh good. Another reason to completely avoid primordials.
Their DS is totally powered by tears. 😛
If no one complains about them, they slowly lose 5 DS / sec until they're entirely useless in combat.
I have 75 swimming ranks and was able to do just fine while carrying 50k in silver coins.
thanks
Can we also make it so that way everytime someone mentions "primordial" on thought-net their (the primordial's) DS gets a boost? That way we can mess with people cross-realm?
[General] Lucullan thinks, "You know what I hate? Primordials! Since the dawn of time Primordials have taken many primordial shapes. From primordial ooze to primordial soup, primordials have been primordial for far too long! So much so that the primordial council for the primordial re-integration of primordials into post-primordial society (or PCPRPIPP for short) has been discussion with a think tank of primordials to see how post-primordial society can be adapted to allow for pre-primordial, primordial, and post-primordial accomodations!"
Then all primordials currently spawned get a +10 DS boost for each time primordial was said. This boost lasts 10 seconds and stacks with each mention.
Good. Gotta catch the acronyms.
Not sure if you can tell this, but any clear winners so far on "player killer" creatures in SG?
primordials have my vote.
(+10 DS)
"no one has died yet" is also a valid answer
There should definitely be a death leaderboard hidden in the captains office
I've died 9 times in 2 days. So much so that I wildly prefer the hive. The margin isn't close.
I think Duff might have more with his pre-capped rogue.
it wasn't a complaint, just noting an outlier that took a different approach. Looking forward (ok, maybe worrying about?) their upcoming mechanic
The fair winds send your spirits soaring, and you feel more sure of yourself.

What about if you have free lightning flares like that gemstone now? or lightning defense, you should go hunt some lightning primordials
This boost should translate to characters whose names start with "P" in the area as well.
Charl.
Also, could we see the Corsair gen rate bumped up in one of the zones at least? with the gen rates as is it's kinda lengthy to do a corsair task.

Would resist elements help in SG?
I suspect you were immobilized or something, that’s a monster of a bonus
Does mdr benefit from being prone or immobilized? I remember it uses different stats than smr and was unclear if the same effects modify it
Fair question, and I’m not sure - I assumed it functioned identically in terms of status effects and only differed in terms of modifiers (skills/stats)
#gemstones message
im rereading when they were introduced and im not seeing anything specifically saying it does or does not. Only that Smr is physically avoiding something, while mdr is internal struggles and some grey areas around magical effects. It had me question if the penalties would be the same or not
The wiki page could use an update. All we got is "The power of the attack is significantly boosted if the initiator is higher leveled than the defender."
https://gswiki.play.net/Mystic_defense_roll
I’m happy to update the wiki if we get some details on the mechanic
the mdr’s take advantage of the same bonuses that smrs do, from what i’ve seen
so if you’re immobilized, +100

I mean, as a non-KS/non spell warrior, I basically run bravery, heroism, strength and a small statue and the only things that really give me concern are the primordials, which I can handle, it's just they sting when I handle them without being cheap and wasting a ton of stamina.
The caveat I'll throw out there is that Peri's well post cap and has a fair amount of enhancive running, but then it's also an ascension ground where this is kinda expected.
Yeah, Duffy is well geared but 18m exp with 90 ATP -- I think I've cracked primordials now but gonna keep my mouth shut hehe
How do you guys feel about the difficulty of SG compared to some of the other ASC hunting grounds? I’ve only really dabbled in the beach and cliffs areas so far. It could be something like after hitting the golem, a monsterbold message pops up saying the arm is dangling. Then you PULL ARM with some slight roundtime applied, and your future attacks are way more damaging… or something along those lines. Making it a bit interactive could be cool
Please no, people don't hunt lichs in the scatter for a reason
I'd be in the rift hunting liches if they dropped gemstones =p
Would you if you didn't have SK506 though? The phylactery suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks
There’s just too much RT on liches. And the phylactery smashing is also kind of boring.

so many good gifs, but none are appropriate
Tentacles have like 400 - 500 hp too
Ok nvm, counted up my last one.
687 and one more hit after that to kill it.
Buff them all!
Ok, reducing qty of tentacle hugs is fair… buff the singles that remain!
I agree, we need to shake the ascension tree to weed out the weaklings
There are so many 9m exp characters hunting Hinterwilds lol. The Nelemar to Gemstones pipeline
always, the hold is where they all wait for u
I cant hunt because my cat wants attention lol -- I looked away for 5 seconds and there were ten trenchys on me
Have we seen bounties for all of the SG mobs? There's no situation like the Hive where broodtender tasks are just not being given out? I have my bounties set to max and haven't had anything higher than a harpy yet

Is this because HW isn't hard enough or is it just the future ranks of well-geared. well oiled (scripted), and teamed up MAers or Vets?
I dont know if I have gotten tentacles yet, but whelk skins, buccaneers, oracles, primordials, sharks, masses.. I think its too soon for me to know if something is obviously missing
I def took a just capped sorc, added a metric TON of enhancives and decent gear and it went from getting mercked by cannibals after one step past the gates to living most of the time
i dont know about 9m, but the characters i bring up to hw are at least double capped
I am on the other end of that, I bring uncapped characters to ascension lol

Just need to buy me a +50 cleric spell ranks trinket next DR. But in seriousness I need to get the 140 extender
I got an ancient primordial bounty which was fun. I may be the only person who actually did a tentacle bounty if they got removed.
the irony in one of the most popular props being an un-nerf
@flint kiln do you get instant major nerves every time the primordial does the mana drain too on duffield? what a sneaky anti KS thing lol
honestly I dont think so? I havent noticed it.. I do have 50 mana because of the empath bloodstone so maybe that is a surprise side bonus
yeah that's probably saving you from it. i have 7 mana, lol
RIP kroderine armor
I trained disarm traps for the boltstones in the hive, I wouldnt be above training HP if I needed to for here
Isn’t nerve damage just a random 20% occurrence from receiving lightning damage?
it's plasma (the mana draining one anyway, i think they have a lightning too). i get a major nerve damage every single time they mana drain me. it's profoundly annoying.
training harness power for mana i will never use seems like a pretty lame tax.
you are using it.. as a mana shield 😅
Just buy the empath thing then. You get health stamina and mana
And yet another charge-based thing to maintain..... ugh
that's me
Nidal its not like you need a whole lot of ranks in it. Maybe 10?
if you train harness power I'll get you a water ice ok kiddo/

Why is your DS so low here?
a good question, but a better question is, can I at least get into a room without being swarmed and dying
Are you swimming up open handed?
Somtimes I feel like Duffiield is on his lvl 37 alt trying to battle SG
No, I had weapons in my hand and I was wearing my armor and I was in stance def but again I'm not here to do a deep dive on my DS 😄 There were five things in the room so the actual killing blow is inconsequential.
Honestly a year ago Nidal replied to me asking for a raise in HW with "maybe you shouldnt be hunting here" and Ive just been living off the audacity ever since
doesn't sound like me. perhaps i had a concussion
this is before we were best buds
very often yeah, trust me I am aware, but I try my best to parse the deaths from me being dumb vs the above.. like spawncamping is just rude
I get the RT thing, but every entry into a hunting ground pretty much risks immediate attack depending upon who's there. I've had limbs blown off from groups prepping blood speakers in the HW without the RT inducement upon entry just walking through the gap. Even worse with the disciples in the Sanguine Grove.
I think an equal argument though can be made to reduce or remove the RT pulling onto the shore as relative to the angargeist hands that would linger causing similar which they changed 709 for.
I'll check the caravans. Weird if it suddenly broke as no changes have come out in a couple of days.
I guess I will feat absorb before I swim onto land then
If you're voln you could SoT too. I've been doing that with primordials because of their lightning shield.
Imagine not being Voln
even if I walked into the room and got blasted Im "fine" with that, because I can peer or whatnot, and ideally most of the time I am gonna be ringing around and not swimming on shore
Caravans seem like they're working fine. I just tested.
You have to have traveled to the hunting zone by caravan or boat to return from it using the caravans or boat.
So if you Gigas Fragment into Hinterwilds you can't caravan out, it sounds like? Maybe the scenario Muzgal was in
yeah the FIRST time if you come in by ship (which we all did the first time), you cant use the caravan in either direction
and since like HW there is no other way to get there besides caravan, I guess this issue (of arriving somewhere not by caravan, and then trying to leave by caravan) never came up before
yea, disregard that. i was hoping that the caravan would work on the way back. the one in hiwi is bugged though
If you die a lot you definitely should be hunting there just let me know beforehand to come to the area
We need a cool regional gemstone like Tentacle Hunter, every tentacle you kill gives you X buff stacking for 30 seconds
I’m not saying this is wrong but RT is definitely relevant here. If I get whacked walking through the barrier in the hive it is 100% my fault because I could have cast something stepping in.
Dirty poacher!
it's worse, my emergency spell is often 213, although I will say I have yet to sanct a room somebody else was actually hunting in (but I don't promise I won't ever do it)

I dont know how much the contempt moves like.. if you jump and Talon Isle is SE, is it always se x5 and s x2 (or whatever) or does it really move one room at a time, that would be tougher to figure out
The directions are in this thread somewhere. The contempt moves, but the rest area to area should be set
The one you always start from moves. Super.
I mean you definitely don’t have symbol of transcendence up because the crit messages don’t say you’re a ghost, but I believe you have the other stuff

so then it should be code-able, if you jump and sense then you can figure out which configuration it's in and what moves have to be done.. by you I mean, someone besides me
this was a cute gem but not worth a whole lot ||a tiny wavering sphere||
I also absolutely have just gone to one of the other areas, but lol
Bugged how?
i put in a bug for it. lydil helped me. essentially you cant use the caravan back to your original area.
really strange. i had two characters stuck. one i just hunted fragments for, the other was too low to hunt the area so i needed divine assistance
Just to understand this, how large is the random area you might show up in when swimming?
I wanna say like 6 rooms?
Hmm, in my testing on test you always swim to the same room, but could swim from other rooms, at least for talon isle
I've definitely landed in one of several rooms.
If you look at the pinned map, it would be one of the eight blue rooms for talon isle then. Err not the blue rooms, they are still the sea, the tan rooms they connect to
okay 8 actually -- I cant confirm Ive landed in each of these, but definitely a few (the southern ones way worse than the northern in terms of swarmy)
Note it's the tan rooms, not the blue ones. The blue are still the sea.
ah gotcha, well same answer for tikbas question regardless, its potentially 8 rooms (but havent been checking enough to see if all 8 are possible)

You can 130 to the contempt. But the docks will lead to talon isle. If you take a look at the pinned posts there's a map this is the dock area.
That's where I am now, but I have no idea how to navigate anywhere
well naturally 😁

You're on Talon Island. You have to fog to The Contempt or swim to it from a blue area on the map.
the blue on the map is water
anyone know the color code for the tans, greys, greens?
Green just means it’s up in the trees I think
Grey is indoors
Or maybe just not subject to the weather effect

I do want to call attention to the fact that Sailor's Grief features some new terrain types.
Specifically Ruins and Open Water.
Gotcha, so grey is ruins then
The jeweler Kahlyr takes the Kai Toka tradebar and inspects it carefully before saying, "I'll give you 11,590 silvers for it if you want to sell." this is correct
can’t wait til we get to fight on Open Water
all that stamina regen might be worthwhile
got a phasable one
The gemcutter takes the seastone orb and inspects it carefully before saying, "I'll give you 15,422 silvers for it if you want to sell."
The jeweler Kahlyr
Quite a resemblance.
Are the swarms in the Sailor’s Grief (shipwreck) area normally like this? Or is it just insane because of the big groups there now? That was wild.
not sure we have established normal yet 😁
Like 6+ critters in every room
it pops off quick in there for sure, and it’s a small space
Badname him.
The big groups have more or less closed the area down to normies. I logged out. Le sigh,
I don’t mind the swarms, but wow that was nasty. I can solo the greatchamber in HW when the area is cooking like crazy, but the shipwreck stuff was too much for me now. Maybe I just need to figure out a decent strategy, but yikes that’s a lot
You place a hand on the chill surface of the glass orb. Blue-green phosphorescence builds in its depths before passing through the glass. It radiates up your arm, illuminating your flesh from within. For a dazzling moment, you feel as if you are one with the sea and the storm. Thunder is your voice, the ebb and flow of the tides your heartbeat, and the lightning your burning soul. The power fades, retreating until it is but a dull rumble in your bones.
We need a cap on spawns. Time and again this comes up.
No, I love the swarms
I dont know if you mean all of the shipwrecks, but that one spot in the bottom of the tonbury, theres always like 10 of them just waiting
Love when one player who has a dozen characters can take over the zone. Not all professions can deal with that kind of swarm. I’m gonna stop ranting now though I’m just getting madder.
That spot below the Tonberry hatch, yeah. I was running from one 8 critter room to another and another, nowhere to hide
i’ve been employing a lot of guerilla tactics
Just been made aware of this conversation, I am in a group of 9 people now hunting in the Sailor's Grief. If you would like to join us, we will welcome all.
I am also in the group of 9...
Interesting, I thought it was several of us who are helping each other. Sailor's Grief indeed. 😂
maybe auchand can charge people 500 million if they want a permanent table, otherwise ooooh ahhh big wave, you fly out of your seat as the tables go flying! the snails come to reset the room but theres no saved seats, sorry
I think it would be moderately more manageable if there weren’t so many tentacles everywhere. They take forever to kill
I am also in that group of 9
Me too!
I think Nidal is just having a 3am duffy rant as we all are entitled to as a treat, there's groups of real folks and groups of MA as far as Ive seen
welcome to sg, say hello to the cat
The good news is if there are so many people hunting there, this is probably not “normal” in terms of spawn rates.
I love seeing the community hunt together. Spawns are insane but no complaints from me. More just curious if this is what I would expect to see in the middle of a weekday… sounds like that’s not the case
All groups over 3 subject to open roll 20 RT wind attacks every minute
Just if you are curious, we are also chatting as we are hunting
surely you all pet the cat on the way in…
not all of us could make it on opening night but it's great that there is a community even on off days
Heaven forbid we actually all hunt together...
release your pearls, warrior
i'll miss out on my next 1 prop gemstone!
Knowing it was always going to be a 1-prop > not knowing if it could have been a mirror image that week
Mnemonic: SCHRODINGER'S JEWEL -- flares a random legendary gemstone power, but if you look at it, turns to dust
what does Echo of Volgust do anyhow?
We should probably start brainstorming hunting strats for some of these critters as well. I still haven’t figured out what to target first, etc.
I can tell you what it DOESNT DO.. it DOESNT let you sit on the throne
it varies by your group and your profession for sure, but personally I think tentacles and jawas gotta go down first (there is proof that deep down auchand does have a soul because these two things dont spawn in the same place)
Also... check out the dice to roll
the chitterlings are like the wendigos, on its own its fine but has the power to change the whole dynamic in a sec
The problem with the tentacles is that they take forever to kill. And I haven’t figured out a faster way to kill them yet
jawa, chitterling, toothy guy, trenchling, any time you dont know what I am talking about I mean trenchling lol.. yeah for me a tentacle takes a full ucs assault and a full THW assault and sometimes still not dead -- also being solo vs tentacle bear hug is rough, but I believe the way bearhug works is that everyone involved gets -50DS or something? So targeting an active hugger is good, assuming you are more than one
Primordials (on a pure wiz) - 3 or so dispel casts, 413 and then 3 or so immolates works okay. And at least they’re relatively harmless
no earthen fury? they go down pretty easily to 309. not a ton of health
primordials take a round to unstun themselves (vs things that unstun and attack at once), so that's the way in
917 is okay I guess. I don’t think you can crit kill the primordials though
My recipe above is a bit faster
how is primordial SMR defense
if you are well defended against electricity you can just fight on the beach and let the primordials zap themselves and everything else
not amazing @ tikba
ez zone then
i don’t bother setting 309 up for primo’s, just open cast it. usually have other more important things to worry about
But the lockdown from 2 or more tentacles in a room is pretty brutal
your turn to bearhug now good sir, ah yes thank you lord tentacle 1 -- honestly I gotta get a cman potion and train up bearhug now
I bet primordials are hilariously weak to a good sidehug
Conceptually I would think the tentacles should be fairly weak, with low DS and low health, if they’re gonna spawn so much. And they just come out a bunch to drag you down and generally make your life difficult against the other stuff. Was surprised they are super tanky
they’re mean and they rove in gangs!
you gotta hit them tentacles with cork flares (is this too niche)
this is fairly decent SMR defense by primordialYou gesture at a fulminating stormborn primordial. Tapping the moons above, you draw down a shaft of coruscating moonlight and bathe a fulminating stormborn primordial in its lucent glow. SMR SvD: +75 + o100 roll: +88 == +163certainly in line with other HW enemies that are level 110+
Disir for comparisonYour spell is ready. You gesture at a shining winged disir. Tapping the moons above, you draw down a shaft of coruscating moonlight and bathe a shining winged disir in its lucent glow. SMR SvD: +79 + o100 roll: +37 == +116presuming their levels are a bit variable, than number might be +/-10
i would say they’re slightly harder to hit with magic smr than disir, but compared to their ds it’s pretty on par.
they don’t have a huge health pool though, thankfully
We need a cap on the amount of characters one person can log in.
That'll kill things for everyone else with huge groups.
We need polite island society rules..... Talon isle is for soloers, shipwreck is for volners and true groups, and the Seat is for whales and supergroups
tables are for supergroups
Tables should go, ships should get node unlock, ship is the cost of your own table!
captains quarter is a node
You need the adventurers guild to agree with this
Nice, I'm gonna buy a fleet of sloops and rent them out. Have a boathand stand on the dock to pull and push the gangplank
ships have trash cans too, you litter bugs
what happened to the swarms in the tonbury
The group had another appointment
Is FWI access in the works?
And who would have guessed the hardest part of Seat of Storms is the climb
I re-specced a little just to get there.. I think 75+ is a good number
Funny, I just did the same thing. Dropped swimming lower and raised climbing to 75. I expected swimming to be more important, but it's not. Really glad I bought a 12 setting ring
I do think that swimming will be more important as we go along. I'm still tuning.
And I do want Ascension grounds to encourage people to get ranks in skills they might otherwise not care as much about.
Those climbs are intense!
thankfully climbing ranks are cheap
i would love if the climbs did not require you to empty your hands. it is very sad to put my SK staff away to climb in spell sever.
yeah esp if 101 ranks and unencumbered can still lead to a fail/fall
meanwhile I'm swimming with my runestaff and 705'ing trash in the ocean
dont worry, theres always 6 trenchlings or a tentacle to pick you up when you fall -- as we all know the favorite move -- attack you when in unavoidable RT
well we should try to clear first before climbing
But the swimming ashore to swarms should get changed please
And make SG 740-friendly
I kinda wanna know why water walking doesn’t work there…
Works everywhere else there’s water.
They said it's intended for calm water not oceans

Not found in Sailor's Grief, but... Normally this would go straight to the pawn for , but then Auchand makes offhand comments about the idea of Swimming mattering more in SG and I'm like: yeah, you know what, let me hold on to this a little while just in case... 👀
Anyone else found one of these yet? Pretty cool!
||>get my heart
You remove a mummified shark heart from in your umbral shroud.
l my heart
Wrapped in stained and tattered cloth stained in places with dried heartblood, the shark heart is a gristly sight. Shriveled and dehydrated, its exterior is rough and leathery where it is not dusted in salt crystals tinged an unsightly red-orange. Deprived of life and moisture, its former red has turned a rusty brown so dark as to be nearly black.||
Has anyone tried swimming there with OVER 202 ranks of swimming?
maybe next time ill use a character with less than 1x swimming to get around SG, but from what i've noticed, getting around is more of a stamina issue
the swimming ranks affect the amount of stamina you use, currently
so if you have a lot of stamina or high regen the ranks aren’t as important, currently
I have 75 ranks and the penalty seems to still just be 5 stamina per room for me. Maybe I was only racking good rolls
Also, sometimes I will fall in my attempt to swim. But it’s rare.
Bolts of forking green-white lightning rain down from the heavens in a devastating chain of blinding thunderstrokes!

The bilge mass is a grotesque amalgamation of jellied remains and collected detritus. Caught within its quivering bulk like bits of food in an especially unappealing aspic, cracked bones and a few yellowed skulls shake and rattle in time with the mass's incessant wobbling. The mass has a clumpy, uneven consistency and is mostly a murky black, but the color is by no means uniform, broken here and there by striations of scabrous brown and pus yellow.```
Eat it.
it's a mass eat mass world out there
eat mass
That is probably not a good idea, all things considered.
LOL.
Gross, why would you do that!
You have died of dysentery.
Forbidden aspic
Unfortunate guardrails, should have been able to eat it followed by 150 per round disease
Or you turn into a new bilge mass like with sanctum lurker mechanic
Forever unclean.
It should have been an incurable disease that just sticks with you for a week.
Has swimming been made harder? It's taking me 15 stamina per movement with 101 ranks. I thought it was 5
The green death 2.0...... that will go over so well
Ok I made it with 7 stamina left, I legit can't do anything more than I'm doing here this isn't sustainable
I mean, just don't make it spreadable?
With 100 swim ranks and 100% encumbered i didnt feel any pressure during the swim. If you swim in the wrong direction or get lost it could get bad.
My margin was like 60 on the swim rolls. (This was during thr weekend though)
Yeah you may have a harder time now, at 15 stamina per room
There have been no changes.
Well then, I will prepare for my future as a buoy
You have been tasked to suppress algae-draped merrow oracle activity in Sailor's Grief near Talon Isle. You need to kill 14 of them to complete your task.At least we know the big creature bounties are working!
my low rolls are costing 15, my high rolls 5
Then I'm cooked! I only get bad RNG! This is lore!
gold rings are back in business
I do have a handful of unused 30 day simucoin rings lockered from when I was moving alts through the Ducts area in OTF (pre F'eyrie and other options)
Ok so merrows and oracles just randomly eat spells cast at them and you still get 3 seconds of cast RT, fun. Also lol I had my first trenchling summoned on my cleric and even 319 doesn't help you then. Just cooked.
Wait until you get a nice Kelpie dispell 🙂
We really need a herbalist here, I've got to swim back to Talon Isle with a bunch of gnarly scars now... lol this may go badly.
You need that herbalist kit with 150 doses and liquid capacity🤑.... 300 total herbs!
Or we need FWI and a herbalist
What's the point in being a GM if you can't torture your players test subjects for a week or two....
definitely excited to have access to fwi
put my stall there specifically to have access to it from SG
Wait do I have to swim to Talon Isle with 20k coins on me to get back to civilization. Forget that. what room is the upper trollfang obelisk in
Its on Talon island, one of the rooms leading from the dock to the arch
Thanks
Isnt there bank on the contempt though? Portmasters take notes
oh yeah i'm dumb i forgot the obelisk was a thing when i left after messing around yesterday lol. whoops
Maybe there'll be a buff sold for local currency that lets you get around the absurd spell dodge thing
Tethered strike gemstone??
Maybe... it's not a "fade" but I'd take it
It seems like it's 1720 or a variant of 1720 but there doesn't seem to be any consistency in what it blocks... it's not level based, it'll block 317 and then 302 will work the next cast, it'll block 111 then 309 will work
i thought it was 319 with different messaging
like, they have a boosted 319 and a boosted trolls blood, is how i was viewing it
i was trying to figure it out also. i don't think it's 319 cause sometimes i'll get a spell through and then it'll block the next spell.
or now that i think about it, it’s almost like mini antimana

The shattered mast lies like a broken spine across bowed deck planks, its rotting length draped in wavering kelp flung there by the angry tide. Snapped at the middle as if by some gigantic, vengeful hand, the mast intrudes onto the deck of a wrecked warship with rusted-over cannons that proved a poor defense against such an unexpected invader. Each relentless wave is accompanied by groans of surrendering wood from the two hulks. You also see a tenebrific wraith shark that appears immobilized.

Have you tried being a wraith?
Yes I died earlier and was briefly a wraith
I think you'll find that dead you is similarly immune to the immobilize status effect! Sure, you may also not be mobile, but that's a different problem 😆
You saw, it glided. Clearly that was just inertia.
finertia, you mean
I threw 513 on and got to smoking fools boots with plasma that last hunt. Having fun out here, despite what is clearly anti-dwarf mechanics (swimming)
While still a funny bug, my first (inaccurate) read through of that led me to think that you searched the shark and it was still there. Which would be even funnier
I wish I loved anything in life as much as bilge mass love running away once you cast 309 on them. Joke's on you bud the spell keeps working this ain't 917!
Auchands HATE this one Nidal trick, infinite shark money glitch
anyone find a gemstone in SG yet?
Someone has, yes.
I did, Tijay too I think
nice
Yea I did
leave it to trenchling swarms to make me delay my casting
me too, single prop that would already be dust but alas we don’t have our own artficer
Mine was on my monk and it was the Nelemar seaspray one, lol
I got a double common so nice reroll fodder for the future
I haven't been watching this channel super closely over the past few days. If my ship was stored in SG, do I have any way to retrieve it yet other than transporting it to a different town?
not currently
Never done that before - is it just the handler, ask about transport or something similar? Does it take some fixed duration?
how was it stored? timed out?
it’ll be about 30 minutes, and yes the dock handler takes care of it
how do we avoid getting our ship stored? do we have to back on board before we log?
yeah would have to avoid it timing out, then sail it to kf before you log
I think they auto-store after 2 hours docked.
ok glad I just use the transport so far then
Or be like me, buy a boat last Friday, upgrade the boat, sail to SG, forget about boat and never use it again.....
ask handler donate boat to graveyard
(hunting in the shipwreck area, "hey that wreckage looks familiar!")
I will have to say sailing your own boat does FEEL cool, I just can't get into it if is so far under the hunting efficiency spectrum plus no gemstones
yikes!

HW just isn't the same after SG, these 50 wannabe plebes bigshotting their way past golems, why would I ever associate with that crowd anymore 😎
We need more artificers
apparently it's a great effort to code a trash can, so good luck
trash cans are wormholes - gotta be careful w em
my trash can is locked behind the dock handler currently 😁
You tap an iron-bound driftwood wastebarrel pin that you are wearing.

actually, i guess i could 220 and despawn it. multidimensional trash!
Are the rest areas in SG outside? More specifically, can tents be pitched?
this can't be dispelled
You detect the following spells on a hapless charmed corsair:

I would hope SG does get an artificer, HW is a long way to have to go from here just to do gemstone stuff
Yeah after a few days hunting in SG, going back to the HW feels like a cakewalk.
I can go weeks and weeks without a HW death. Doubt I’ll go more than a day or two in SG at this rate.
HW is for alts, the Hive and SG are for mains
I love it
Definitely sticking to SG for awhile- it's fun to have a place that is ruthless
Yeah I’m glad it’s really hard. I think I’ll get a bit more efficient over time as I figure out optimal kill strategies and such.
It’s hard enough (at least as it currently is) that I suspect it may deter a lot of the crowds.
The environmental hazards are also another deterrent.
ya - getting open roll lightning stuck while swimming to a hunting ground is definitely a deterrent!
I stopped using most of my enhancives in HW (except when I’m playing the Greatchamber survival game and hunting Angargreft). But I don’t see myself going without them anywhere in SG
I think the friction and inconvenience of it will deter most people. Even if SG gets FWI and a herbalist the amount of swimming RT is pretty buck wild
this is exactly what I am doing now lol.. though never forget that an uncapped rogue killed a primordial :p
Ya I heard SG doesn't have FWI access. Ironically there is a shrine of Jaston on the Isle- I wonder if FWI could be accessed from there?
The enchantment laid upon a hapless charmed corsair tightens its hold, pulling him from his insensate state. He shakes off the stun!

naa, I think it's just messaging of trying to break thru the charmed effect it has - I guess from the harpies
neat stuff
oh and I think what's causing attack spells to fail is some version of Slippery Mind
seems the harpy nest (326, 327) listed on the map doesn't exist in game
is there a SG map on the wiki?
There's one pinned in this channel.

gotcha - thanks 🙂

Ah Slippery Mind, I know you well. Corsairs get SMR and bolt party. Although it does stink that even after the disabler review, spells like 110 and 118 are considered "warding" and can be slipped
Well that's no fun
Would love to have a medical bay where we can buy herbs if desired if we're not getting FWI access

I’m disappointed in the phonetic spelling of forecastle…
it makes me giggle
Nautical terminology is supposed to be cryptic!
Boatswain: bosun
Forecastle: foc’sle
Port, starboard, head, aft and after both being directions.
Could private property transport keys please work from the Contempt?
It should be fo'c'sle.
In the same way that boatswain should be bosun. It’s not wrong.
Also, not all complaints are valid. Including my own
Oof. With no full AG, or FWI access, you have to leave SG any time you need to charge an enhancive... do not love that at all. 😕 I think that's going to do it for me until there's FWI, I hadn't thought of that and am not willing to live with it, lol.
I thought the albatross carried you back to the contempt if you died
||Maybe that’s what the deadman’s luck is for?||
I do not like the fact that mount travel off the island does not work, and private property transport doesn’t work.
The barrier to access is too high.
I don’t particularly understand the barrier to access idea for ascension hunting grounds at all — but this one seems to have gone too far regardless.
ME has zero barrier to access. ZL has zero barrier to access.
I don’t like, but would be willing to live with, the unfun slog swim mechanics… but the area isolation might just be a bridge too far.
The creatures are fun tho.
You do spend a pretty incredible amount of time in swim RT if you don’t own a multi setting ring. I don’t love it but I like the enemies and the zone so if we get FWI access from the Contempt I’ll definitely live with it
This might be the only area where mount travel hunting would be worth a purchase…
I agree, I’m enjoying the zone and could see myself staying here. But not if FWI access isn’t added. That’s a necessity QoL and just from a business sense, why wouldn’t you want to encourage use of a premium feature?
If I didn’t have a multi-ring I probably wouldn’t stay either. I like that the zone is hard, not that navigating it is.
Also, could we please make it so that boat travel off the island automatically pulls silvers from your bank account?
fwi access/herbalist/boat master would make this place doable
This last sentence is the key.
the obelisk is nice but its obviously temporary. and i dont want to keep waiting and paying to have my ships brought back from storage
perhaps if someone could confirm that FWI access is the plan or not?
I can't fathom that they wouldn't put in FWI access.
no need for you to fathom if we could get official word
That's good, fathoming always gives me gas.
This is just a theory, so uh... don't take it as anyone but me saying it.
But I think the fact that the Contempt moves makes it hard to toss the town flag on it, and you need that flag to use FWI jewelry... so maaaaaaaaaaaaybe they're trying to figure out how to make that work.
the contempt room numbers are the same though, really just where jumping takes you moves
Does the room number change? If not it shouldn't be an issue.
I could very well be wrong, it's possible. The irony would be pretty hilarious.
If there’s not going to be FWI I could still live with that if there’s a herbalist and enhancive charge person… someone to manage gemstones through would be stellar also, that artificer is a long way away
Should add an artificer in FWI too. Again, increase the benefits of premium. Stop making things harder to do

I hope we get someone to calm the masses with a single sentence on if/when FWI access is coming
Anyone have tricks for dealing with the blubbery merrows as a pure? Their shield effects are problematic
>touch obelisk
cast a low mana spell 1st and then your attack spells second. I'd say 901 but you know.. lighting but you can 502 or something
Will give it a shot, thanks. I’ve been doing 417 like 3 or 4 times, but it’s so slow the merrows start to do other nasty status stuff and/or other critters are joining
The swimming is honestly awful. A couple minutes per hunt just to get to where you're going, when no other area has that kind of timesink, gets exhausting fast. A multi-setting ring is almost a requirement to regularly hunt the area. I don't think I can deal with this on an ongoing basis. It's a lot.
I just bought a multi-setting ring for this. My protest until I can have a swimsuit. So you know what salt water does to suede?!
Lol. I’m not going to spend that kind of money just to bypass an entry mechanic. But I absolutely understand doing it.
I didn't mind the swimming really. Just my $0.02. It would've been worse without a way to fog home after a hunt.
Try holding onto the normal gold rings that you find and seeing if you can maintain the entry/exit just from those. I probably loot like 2-3 per day just from normal hunting
I feel like SG is already remote as it is. The timesink just go to hunt, EVERY hunt, is a bit much. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I have like 50 of those enruned gold rings somewhere. Maybe it's time to set up a little shop in SG. Too bad I can't set up a market stall. 🙁
A permanent gold ring is worth like 10,000 times as much as a treasure system one. So I understand why people buy them, but given how low the normal gold ring failure rate is I don’t see why they can’t be used
Yeah but you need one per “zone” then. Still a huge hassle. Idk it’s just not for me.
That’s true. You have to have some sort of system, ie bright gold rings take you to talon isle, etc etc. It is definitely some inventory management to deal with, no doubt.
Maybe if the area had an increased gemstone drop rate. As it is, any kind of consumable dependency is asking a lot for no real reason
Finally we have a decent use case for wizard familiars
Technically I think it has a higher drop rate, since critter levels are higher. But I know what you’re saying
Maybe I’ll feel differently if the swimming gets added to go2. Then it’s not 2 minutes of timesink I actually have to do myself
has anyone figured out if contempt's anchor points are like, static list of a few potentials or if it's actually just wandering to any potential room in the ocean?
I haven't been there yet. Can you just use a gold ring on the outgoing part of the hunt, and 930/130/return to get back to town at the conclusion so that those chronomages don't steal your precious silvers?
There's 3 different locations to hunt. Which I think is what Nidals gripe is. I'm team multi setting ring though
There’s 3 different zones. It isn’t all mobs in one area. So yo need 3 different rings.
I haven't been there yet. Can you just use 3 gold rings on the outgoing part of the hunt, and 930/130/return to get back to town at the conclusion so that those chronomages don't steal your precious silvers?
But yes, you can return safely with 930/130, etc.
this is the built in breaking rocks that surprise surprise every new hunting ground is going to have
you could ring to the isle, but if you need to go to the seat of storms you still have to do that swim. but it is at least shorter i think to move between the hunting grounds thatn from the contempt, and they are static from each other so it does help
so you either still have to swim and junk or you need like nidal said multiple rings
you can 930 back and forth just do the ole switcheroo where you tell your familiar to go into the portal / stay before you do
lol that’s just a foreach in my post hunt when I’m already alt tabbed out of gs I don’t care about that
sorcs can gold ring 740 with lore probably so no ring at least
You only need two rings really, Talon Isle and Seat of Power. Sailor's Grief is a short swim from Talon Isle.
I really like the creatures and the zones themselves but the swimming is just terrible imo and will keep me from the area. I know this isn’t the airport and you don’t have to announce your departure but I’m just annoyed.
regular gold rings do work and you can set multiple rings. I think standard gold rings are dropping pretty good around here especially out of boxes.
Please can you at least tell us this?
Just add a mad alchemist in the area as an herbalist to sell tinctures and everything needed is there!
Although I can see why FWI access might not be added.
As it is right now the place has like an old school hunting feel. Gotta use gold rings, gotta hike back from Pinefar kind of thing.
All these collectibles piling up though!
the hike back from pinefar was never as bad as trying to move around sg
I will take them, just head over to the mailroo-- oh yeah, heh.
That'll teach you to open your boxes.
I mean all you really need is a f2p to sit on your ship to keep it from despawning.
If you don't have a ship, why are you hunting in the ocean?
the swim just isn’t interesting enough. i think we sharks in the water
oh, there's no message that's gives you a warning?
I use my ship so often I do not recall. I know there is one if you're just sitting afk in the ship, but I don't know if you get that message if you're not on the ship.
Could probably just leave the port and come back between each hunt and be perfectly fine.
I also don't know if the janitor visits your ship, which is what the F2P would be to guard against.
IF you logout from your ship while its in port, do you still end up lost at sea?
finally 1x swim, now to work on 1x climb
I'd like to be able to ride my mount either to Talon isle, or in between the isles within the hunting ground. Both would be nice but I'd take either for some usage out of the travel mechanic.
I don't mind the swimming around myself, but then I'm also not assuming every hunting ground is intended to be paced the same way as every other hunting ground. It's good to have variety.
FWI would be nice, but I'd also settle for an herbalist and a AG treasurer. One thing the ship does need is a wastebin next to the locksmith pool.
I'm also in agreement that the RT swimming up on shore could be removed. I've yet to have it get me killed, but I have been cast at going up to the point where I use shield mind before every attempt.
They could also make some survival/swimming threshholds for spicer's sea for 101/202/202+. I'd also be interested to sea some free-dive fishing added to spicers sea, since I have to constantly make Auchand work to improve fishing in every form I can find 🙂
stuff them in the muck
The completionist in me would never. That being said I've been using my major sanctuary as a trash can like the gods intended.
Would it be possible to change the sense language when swimming, so that it tells you which direction the area is instead of which way you are in relation to it, please?
If not removing RT, at least let us like SWIM PEER in order to look at the beach first.
It did get me killed once
Lucullan, why would you thumbs down that? You would rather have to figure out in your head the opposite direction of what is listed?
Slowmo mode is killing my response.
I actually like the mini puzzle of having to gain my bearings
That's insane. You masochist. 🙂
I personally love everything about this area except the dyin part. But that's on me. I don't mind the old school feel of the place. I also don't mind not having access to four winds, and they've added the travel from solhaven and kraken so getting to and from isn't too bad if you don't wanna bring a personal ship. I think it being rougher is refreshing.
Noted feedback. Swims more deadly. Got it
haha that would be freaky if a shark came and attacked you while swiming
We'll call it a Keru Shark
Catch the next feature cube film "the Jaws of Talon"
I love the dying part, because at least so far it feels like the appropriate level of challenge for me -- it's the travel mechanics/ease of use things that make the area less appealing to me.
we can use golden rings again! I've not used them in years except for Jfloo. It's awsome having a reason to use them again.
That's not the part that is frustrating for me. I don't mind the swim mechanics at all, I guess.
I expect any adjustments will take time as Auchand tends to be working on a lot at any given moment. Neither HW or ME are the way they were at initial release. Likely just going to take some time for him to consider the suggestions, decide, dev, QC, implement them.
A suggestion would be to harness the neat model HW has, and utilize an area specific currency to bypass some of the inter-island mechanics (e.g. 5 urchin shells to boat from one area to another).
From what I understand a currency is planned but not implemented yet(tarnished doubloons I think?), though for what I'm not sure. I'm in the Opalina camp of kinda liking the area majorly in it's concept as is. It does feel more like an old school ground where combat at times is more 1-1 than just a numbers game. I won't argue any common sense QoL upgrade as long as it falls in line with the overall intention of the ground. I'm fine with SG not being like every other ascension area out there.
Not having a way to charge enhancives without going back to Solhaven or KF is nuts.
On top of this I'd like The Contempt to ignore spell sever since it's a resting area so I can turn my enhancives off without dropping a spell.
No. There aren't any patterns to sense for the gold ring feature of 740 to work.
apparently Sorcerer Tears are the new currency here.
collect them to teleport out! 😄
(just kidding!)
Missoni has been wanting them to make 740 work there too.
I feel like too much effort is put into the movement/travel "arms race" of this game. How can I force manual interaction vs how can we avoid manual interaction.
Maybe more of a cyber crimes war than an arms race.
it's a big world out there.
I really like the concept. A floating, moving base of operations I deploy from for missions. The mobs are both insane and require me to actually think and not just face roll my hotkeys.
The areas are amazing, the gems are gorgeous, I am absolutely taking a vasculum out there for collecting purposes.
I think, with some finishing touches (one's we've all pretty much asked for: trash bins, FWI access, herbalist) and a big ol kraken boss to fight... I could totally see calling it home for a while.
Yeah, my last consideration at trying to summon the Kraken got me vaporized by Charl. I'm still debating how to achieve this.
We need to summon and kill the kraken to restore the town and get FWI access. (That would actually be a super cool release event)
I'm wondering if it's not out yet as well, since the Shardmind is still a work in progress.
I kind of assumed it wasn't part of the initial release. ><
I tend to assume this too, but that part of me that wants to try to figure everything out will continue to drive me to look for a solution and hope I'm wrong. It will obviously end in Peri's untimely death at the hands of a legendary sea beast, but it's a sacrifice I the player am willing to make.
Oh 100% totally get that. There's probably a bunch of easter eggs and secrets we haven't discovered. Once we get those amenities I need to keep me sane (I hope!), I'll be out there trying to learn them all. I just can't handle being stranded without access to my stuff. (I need my stuff)
I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to balance between the Grief and Solhaven in the end. Some of this will likely shake out with how things are adjusted.
I can definitely see how that could be a struggle, I'm very fortunate that it's not an issue for me (usually).
I guess I am on an island (pun absolutely intended) hating the swimming/being too poor for a multi ring. Kind of surprised. I hate having to do it manually more than I hate the rt. Hunting manually sometimes is fun, moving around manually, to me, never is. Hopefully someone automates it.

You don’t need a multi ring. Buy the 30 day one from shop or use treasure found. It’s really only 3. I had to takeoff a couple but meh
I just question the design decision. Why create mechanics that essentially require scripting and automation because it's so tedious?
Nobody wants to swim to different locations. It doesn't add anything compelling to the gameplay, in fact it just takes away from it
Just wait til the open water shark combat comes.
I don't necessarily disagree but I'd say people who would rather skip that will take the path of least resistance and just hunt elsewhere and leave this one to people who don't mind it.
I guarantee someone is like, yes, this is perfect, it keeps others away
I'd almost prefer that to the lightning strike while foraging
green thumb here we come!
I didn't say I was failing to forage!
Seems if you are netted on the beach, you can swim out to the water 😁
At least I was able to swim water and then a few seconds later With effort, you lurch into motion, unfettered at last.
I feel like essence of water should drop here frequently.
** A ferocious caw rips free from a faenor totem as a rippling wave of rose-hued light flows from it and over your exposed skin, imbuing a sudden rush of power from a rose-ringed raven that lets you endure some of the blow. **
AS: +510 vs DS: +357 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +98 = +286
... and hits for 24 points of damage!
Cut over your left eye.
Fetid globules linger on your flesh for a moment before seeping into your wound.
[MDR result: 259 (Open d100: 68, Bonus: 142)]
A sick, burning sensation spreads along your veins as bits of the crawl through you!``` Looks like last line has an error/missing a word, but not sure what it should be.
Also, this is a wild/cool mechanic: ```The fair winds send your spirits soaring, and you feel more sure of yourself.
A sudden tailwind catches you by surprise, propelling you forward with sudden celerity.
fire
With lightning fast reflexes, you reach toward the ghezyte quiver at your belt and draw out a firewheel arrow, nocking it in your firewheel longbow.
You take aim and fire a firewheel arrow at a brackish bilge mass!
AS: +482 vs DS: +437 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +27 = +97
A clean miss.
The arrow streaks off into the distance!
Roundtime: 3 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.```
Who doesn't like free Celerity?
Hmm, kraken tentacle SMR seems too high for their level
An amaranthine kraken tentacle whirls in a violent arc before slamming down toward you!
You hear the soft tinkle of rolling dice, followed by a faint lucky feeling.
[SMR result: 131 (Open d100: 60, Bonus: 23)]
The kraken tentacle slams into your lower back with a brutal thud!
... 4 points of damage!
Roundtime: 2 sec.
>```
Vs combat def 113
Standard Maneuver Roll (SMR): 2% chance to be hit```
Vs like-level:
Standard Maneuver Roll (SMR): -23% chance to be hit
tentacles also don't seem to be showing up in gamedata as enemies or something, at least for my script that identifies enemies.
I also seemed to get Kai's over on Sailor's Grief, but it wasn't in my buffs, so I couldn't track it. Some singing from a ship invigorated my spirits or such
Currently walking around the Singing Crags looking for harpies, which the wiki says are here, but can't find any, just whelks, primordials, and corsairs. And the occasional trenchling
Ahh, I just found some up the trees--just nothing below on the regular crags
calm poison works on the primordials, it seems, but a somnis flare doesn't:
** For a split second, the striations of your somnis full plate expand into a sinuous pearlescent mist that rushes towards the stormborn primordial, enveloping it entirely! **
Roundtime: 2 sec.``` Just returns a blank
Why can't someone answer whether FWI is coming/intended or not? Just one way or another
I have a feeling the Contempt just isn't classified/coded as a town, for two reasons: (1) >justice status There is no justice other than your own out here. and (2) >turn key You try to turn your copper key, but the hostility in the area resists your efforts. Perhaps you should try again from an area closer to town. And this is causing some issues.
Gold rings are considered functional, right?
an enruned gold ring (functional)
That is unfortunate
Harpy's will gen in the trees, and the grounds of the singing crags. They'll also sometimes find themselves on the high path below the crags as well but that's much rarer.
