#[Official] Sailor's Grief

Thatβs pretty nasty, there doesnβt seem to be a roll
Are the trenchlings hasted?
In fairness those guys are lightning elementals so probably trying to do lightning damage to them is just a really bad idea
alright, well that's most the rooms in the entrance to the Seat then β‘
try what? getting zapped? that room definitely zapped me
I'll have to see if lightning whelks do the same. But it changes the conversation from just water rooms a bit though.
You see a fairly typical needle-toothed trenchling that is lying down.
She appears to be dead.
She has severe head trauma and bleeding from her ears, a fractured and bleeding left hand and deep lacerations across her chest.
She has a crude shark fang necklace strung with multicolored seaglass beads (worn) and a yellowed fish spine sword dangling broken rib bones.```
Jerk!

Electricity discharges down the length of the ghezyte walking stick!
Is this part of the blessing lore flare or the bounce back from the primordial? If the latter, it seems meant for direct physical contact to them ala melee and not casting.
Oh very nice thatβs solid
appears to be working
I concur
Neither? It's normal flare messaging (blessing lore flare or dispel flare) with added lines redirecting it back. It's in my attack not the primordials.
Here's a whole sequence, the lightning hitting me is in the dispel flux towards the top.
You gesture at a fulminating stormborn primordial.

I've replaced the immunity on golems with resistances.
Ok so it's just the dispel flux causing the discharge, but not your actual lightning attacks (per the rest of the sequence)?
No, sometimes is flux doing elemental lightning sometimes it's blessing lore flares which are also lightning. I don't have regular lightning to try. It's not every time.

FYI, you can't combine INCANT and TARGET. Or rather, the target in that example is doing nothing. It's always using your target.
you know i seem to remember some situation it wouldn't default to target or wouldn't automatically target a target [if that makes sense], but now i can't replicate it sooooo i dunnnnoooo π
maybe one of the others [evoke/cast] doesn't do it? and i associated it with incant?
Yeah, INCANT just ignores any supplied targets entirely. Uses only your current target if you have one, or auto-targets a new hostile if not. CAST/EVOKE will self target if you don't specify, so they'd be a great use case for the generic target
got it. well if i remember to unlazy myself long enough i'll change it π«‘ π€£
got a lot of macro's, you understand
awesome
don't know what that is yet, but i'm glad it fixed π
well i've confirmed it happens outside the ruins as well as not in the room with the basin; it really does seem like a standard flare chance to flare on your flare π
I assume golems are poison immune?
Also, I imagine it's level based, but oracales are perceptive even in shadarl. Not a complaint, just an observation.
Are you 3x hiding
Yea I confirmed that earlier I went up in the trees and got the same thing. It appears to just be a primordial thing
Technically over 3x hiding
π¬
I mean, the kiramon stalkers are also perceptive. 3x + Shadarl + Armor Stealth...still get seen.
Whelplings or whatever didn't see me too well, BUT oracles did. Vampires do. Stalkers do. And I mean constantly.
If they're 3x Perception and 110, that'd definitely be an advantage for them.
But oracles are 115.
I just notice you have a lot of perceptive stuff. Not everything is, but definitely is.
Stalking and Hiding................| 453 353```
That's not including Armor Stealth.
```Stealth:
Raw hide skill: 653
Raw spot skill: 343
it'd be nice if the roll was shown when a contested perception check happens
I wanna state I'm not mad, and I have the gear for it as well. I just notice you have some spotters on the regular. Means I have to take those out first.
But I was having trouble hitting the stalkers, and they break stun AND immobilize which was a challenge to catch them with because....115
I did not feel comfortable hunting Oracles and I don't think I'll be Big Willy and venture to clap them. That's a good thing. Means I have to get good.
or you need partners in crime
We did pretty well, yeah. They just shake a LOT of my stuff. I may have to strategize a better poison to use.
i honestly was engaging with them in the worst way, just so you could see all the spines π
But yeah, I'll say this in a semi-jokingly way. In trying to clap the KS folks, they made me, a non-KS, no spell rogue with just Strength/Thurfels/Symbols and a Small Statue be scared of EVERYTHING in Sailor's Grief.
I no feel safe.
Do they see through you?
Wait, how's your hide higher than mine when my number is higher than yours? What am I missing?
The fact that the combat verb is not always good info. Also racial bonus. Half elf hides better than dark elf
Race. Stats. Spells. Environment. Room conditions. Also if you arenβt you can do a level with combat def to see what it would be for an overleveled target. Ie combat def 115
Let me play with that.
I remember when I had 2x S&H on my monk and he had like a -84% chance to hide like-level. Ah, profession bonus mechanics
We did some testing a couple weeks ago in rangers about hiding and such. Enlightening
How is it you do not know? Did you forget everything I taught you young padawan?
I'm a journeyman in my 5-year contract. I'm in a contract year.
I was also trying to state that it depends on the critters. I was able to hide pretty well versus the sybil and that was 120. But vamps, stalkers, oracles, they were really really solid.
And the answer to that is Strength and Thurfel's.
Raw hide skill: 708
Raw spot skill: 332
oracles don't even need to search for you, they should KNOW where you will be in the future....
I'm trying something a little different with spine poison.
104 and 105 (and SL-B) will allow a chance to resist it entirely.
Base 10%, scaling with Blessings.
I think thatβs a cool idea, KS is still cooked though, rip
I'm hoping they'll fix rogue poison resist.
Elaborate?
It's not on your end, but rogue poisoncraft has an innate for rogues: Improves poison resistance by (Rank * 5)%.
HOWEVER
That resist only applies to OTHER rogue poisons, and not poisons in general. So triton wardens and wall of thorns or whatever hits at full power.
Again, it's not on your end. It's just something I hope gets addressed at some point.
When I was poisoned by the merrow thorns, it was 10 damage a tick. It wasn't brutal by any stretch, but I imagine if you get mollywhopped, it can add up swiftly.
Read through like 300 messages just to make a technically off-topic reply to this one thing by saying that, considering the whole point of the design of Martial Mastery was to create an alternative path to knowing 425 for AS boosts on squares, maybe it should only penalize actually knowing 425, or failing that, penalize learning too many spells with a profession that could learn 425.
No. They are not searchable afaik, so nothing should drop
Thank you. I wonder if this could be changed. Otherwise, no one is going to hunt these, ever.
I would not be surprised if a future boss creature responds to the pain from having its tentacles damaged
Interesting on my theory about Sailor's Grief having water rooms was correct. I just read the entire discussion and read up on everything possible. I spose the only question I have is: How is it possible for a creature to have very little AS to DS swing with disablers having little to no effect on DS itself? Not really familiar with ASC AS numbers, but 454 bolt AS looks really low to me, which would lead me to think the primordials at least are not stancing down, and with a ~500 CS who would
I just figured there would be a strategy to take to play around things like that usually. Surprising.
Primordials are really susceptible to SMR from what I saw, which would be the main tactic used to take them down
I am at 37 million exp and not certain i could fight here yet. Ahhhh I see. Interesting.
Is the ambush pushdown working on this area? Out of curiosity? Or does it not actually stance?
Unfortunately I can't really test much. I did a few hunts as a fresh capped warrior with some 2x gear, was really bad. The last test I did 650 level ups, got tran dest 10 and some asc stuff, but my total regular exp was only like 9m so my regular training was nowhere near complete.
``` foolproof primordial method
885 DS, I whiffed every AS attack against primordials, albeit only a 543 AS, but I was not overcoming an 885 DS on a consistant basis
fury, not flurry whoops
My best primordial strategy so far is spamming SMR, hoping for some good flares, then finishing them with a coup.
I mean, they don't cast cs spells right? It's an ability. Just curious behavior is all.
Eviscerate, eviscerate, (quick head math), one more eviscerate... coup. Maybe throw in a subdue for better bonuses, but they kick it off pretty quick depending on timing.
Yeah, eviscerate sounds good.
Garrote is super effective against them, which makes me think Bearhug would be as well, but eh... doubt I'll swap my cmans for it in Live
They should sell a self-repairing "Onarian Necktie" that has MK garrote at the next auction
Primordials are also a little more susceptible to UCS, but their defense is pretty high there as well. You can dispel em, spell cleave em, but you are still gonna need a pretty high AS to touch them with melee.
They cast CS spells. With a crazy 500ish CS. But they are like invoked, so no prep time
Ah. I thought since KS didn't absorb it was commented it was abilities.
Perhaps some are and some aren't. Thanks for both of your inputs.
It is weird. Not really sure what is going on with it. I didn't think to try the other methods of spell blocking, but I didn't really test KS abilities like others. I mostly just went in to get wrecked and check numbers, and explore as deep as I could so I could read back through in the log
Yeah, Auchand commented that atleast one of the cs attacks was an ability. Nidal and him were discussing it.
Is there a way to mirror my character to test at all? Unsure how the test realm works very well. Would love to try with my gear.
They did a fresh copy recently you should be able to log in
Heh.... suhweet. Thanks
Demo Teleport is your friend once you're in
They really, REALLY do.
Kelpies seem to shift a lot, too. A lot of the critters in the Grief make me play the "go in and attack" game instead of the "iso slow" game.
Be just like Plat. 2 or 3 peeps hunting an area.
I mean, that's what it seems like. I was playing in the jungle. Ran into a corsair, and again, they shake off things pretty quickly.
Gotta get that 1 second RT Secret Hessauce
I'm not mad about it. It's kind of an expected gaming trope to spend a game leveling and learning abilities only to get to the end game and find out that everything is now immune to them to create difficuly.
I'd prefer we instead significantly limit durations on Ascension creatures rather than just making them immune.
I do too, like enabling game mechanics and disables or resistance reducing items and abilities. Or have some sort of strategic counter. I really enjoy mechanics like that as well.
The more we (on the Dev side) can unify mechanics, the easier that is to do.
Like, having uniform ways to apply Blind, Immobile, etc has been a huge boon.
Indeed, I appreciate the dev teams work on that unification. I am sure it is a frustrating tangled need at times. Thanks for all that you and the teams do for that effort.
I do enjoy some condition immunities, FWIW. Vampires in Moonsedge are a good example of a foe that feels more fun because they can break so much of what you throw at them.
To me, it also hits their horror theme.
Can we expect any sort of mitigation to be made availalbe for the poisons for those who can't avail themselves of Poison Resist/Unpoison? A forageable at SG we can rely on? Maybe add a potion to a herbalist somewhere (there are potions in the Pinefar herbalist that remove Disease, for instance, that I have to carry for oozes in HW - which disease FAR less frequently than the poison in SG happens). A purchasable area buff against poison? I dunno just hoping for something. That poison got up to 50 per really quick and I saw it as high as 90something before I bailed and hit a HEALME
will the area be targetable with mount travel in any form?
and, will be getting a chance to test the boss before release?
Alchemy, local currency, or ????? routes.
No to boss.
And very likely no to MOUNT TRAVEL. I have been told that that is not standard.
Boss is the 3rd on the list for possible release by end of 2026. 2 more bosses need to get released before SG boss
A lot of these critters feel FAST, maybe it's just the newness/not having all the highlights in. But tentacles feel FAST (probably a short RT cman followed by a hit or two). the toothy guys are FAST (probably just so many of them). Primordials too. The sharks arent fast, but its a small window to hit them because it seems like they almost ONLY do their roater move. .. also completely separate thought.. how do so many whelks get up in the trees of the harpy area? are they just sliiiiiiiiiiiding their way up?
? i take it this was confirmed in the panel?
yes
I see Hinterwilds and Moonsedge getting more difficult as part of the Ascension balancing, but they will likely remain the starter Ascension areas.
Along with possibly another Moonsedge-sized one some day.
So this is like Ascension+ π
It is just deeper in because of levels.
a lot of the difficulty can be mitigated by having a partner
which i know, gross π
does that imply hive will also become harder
I don't think I even saw any of the lower leveled things. I mostly saw 107+
that is the lower level things π
for me, the hive is fine until I miss one berserk breakout, then it's dead. there is no inbetween. HW I can slug it out and come back bloodied, but the hive is 1/0, true false, dead or unscathed
I don't really have a good sense of that any more honestly because it is the only place I hunt now so I am just fully adapted to it, I used to feel like it was incredibly hard and now I feel like I do pretty well
bilge mass (104), corsair (105), mariner (106)...didn't see these at all. Albeit I didn't get deep. I mostly got smacked by primordials (109)
yeahh.. I think I died twice yesterday but I am going into rooms with 8+ bugs, so yeah I should be quiet heh
the corsairs are around the entrance
bilge and mariner are in the ship graveyard i think
but yea, you don't go far before you skip past the "easy" stuff π
They see through a lot.
Hive is difficult, but it's stranegly....fair? It's just easy for things to go wrong.
it's certainly much harder than sanctum in the sense that I can die in hive just because whereas if I die in the sanctum it was definitely my fault
I still have not found the ship graveyard. I couldn't even find the bloody ship with the NPCs
That has been my experience.
I feel like I can use more tactics in the Hive whereas in SG, a lot of my tactics do not stick often. Again, I'm not KS or spelled. I may need a better second spell, I guess.
I can't slit a trenchling's throat before they call for help. They just seem to know someone is there, even though they can't see them, and they bring in the hitters.
easier way to find the Contempt is to die, heh
but....healme raise
if you don't spend any time dead you never get to see the death mechanics! still waiting to see if any of the creatures do something special to corpses
can you be impregnated with squidlings while you're dead, for instance...
bruh
keep searching around The Mageborn you'll find the way to the others
It is a thing. My character really doesn't belong, and rarely survives more than 10 seconds in a room with anything. He was only fresh cap when I started exploring, now he is weird because I pushed TranDest so he has 9m exp and 33m asc exp. Also only in 2x gear.
It's that..... a Yardie reference?
all hail the Squidfather
::wiggles eyebrow:: I can't wait for people to figure out how the throne works. Hopefully you can smite the kraken.
the exp to aexp gain ratio is hilarious on test
i have like 300mil aexp on test lol
find Charl's crown to sit on the throne?
someone put a whoopee cushion on it
they instead put pin cushions, called merrow
I don't use swiftkick a lot so maybe this isn't SG related but it seems weird that you can't swiftkick a harpy but you can kick a harpy
The harpy is immune to your unarmed attacks!

Amidst a grey-plumed steelwing harpy's death throes, metallic feathers rain from her wings and her jagged teeth gnash ineffectually. At last, she goes mercifully still.
A grey-plumed steelwing harpy seems to lose some dexterity.

when you beam up, do you end up in a specific room? If so which one?
when you demo you end up at the dock, if that's what you mean
nah, when you get the teleporter to go up to the invading airship
the airship is still a mess, all the connections are autogenerated and unverified, need to hitch a ride to sort it out. The rest are pretty dang good aside from a couple connections between layers for the contempt and mageborn/sailor's grief
Speaking of .. is the sense gonna remain Sailor's Grief for the Mageborn?
i guess i don't know where/what that is π
is the airship the Kyusharu?
Theres a Tonbury I haven't found.
There's also a Sailor's Grief Islet
And a Kyusharu
||[The Mageborn, Hold - 35614] (u7150507)
Seawater surges and ebbs, battering rotted support beams in the darkness of the hold. Broken crates float amid drifting seaweed that fills the space with the sweetness of decay, though a few still secured to the deck by tortured lines are stacked to allow access to a rusted iron hatch. Faint twinkles of starlight beckon from cracks between the planks overhead, casting silvery luminescence across bulkheads crawling with algae. The ceaseless rocking of the ship sends concentric waves rippling across black water. You also see a vibrant ocean jasper cabochon.

appears it's not, the missing map has been found
same, more or less -- the sea isnt right but it is 12 or 13 northwests to get to the seat
you can see how I get better, by the end things were actually evenly spaced lol
These are ship ships, not airships.
generally was much more successful drawing it on a lil grid pad first (using the u room numbers) and then adding it to a thingee
The true ocean was the amount of white space we found along the way
(i kid, but mapping it so it's an efficient use of space and still makes sense in our lizard brains topographically is challenging in some areas)
Yes, Keruta showed me the secret entrance.
so many hatches
Also I got around to the Merrow and turns out they shoot spines no matter what you do. Swing and a miss? Have a spine!
so what is the true test (besides zappy zappy) to tell that a room is a water room for electric flaring purposes? swim/splash?
splash I believe. If it can splash, it can zap
splash is working
does swim work too like in Nelemar?
swim works
water walking should help some - I know we're still submerged a few inches tho
maybe they'll sell duckboots
What levels are the primordials?
109
I can't hit them with my weapon, be it disabling or sweeping or anything. I don't have the AS to do so.
Yeah, their DS is crazy, but you can hit them with SMRs easy enough

kind of, it takes stamina, but you arenβt under water like nelemar
I meant to identify a shock/shallow water room. I'm aware of swimming the Spicer Sea costing stamina. All good.
Encircling a soft mauve heart, narrow puce bands wreathe the sugar stone like faded ribbon. I've documented 4 different SMR abilities they perform and this is against my empath.
I'm fine with them but their level needs to come down to maybe as low as 105. At 113 they're way to powerful for no treasure drops.

It is very resistant (25%) to crushing attacks.
It is very resistant (25%) to puncturing attacks.
It is heavily padded to lessen the damage the wearer takes.
It is superbly padded against critical blows.```

How would people feel about adding Poison and Disease Resistances as common Ascension abilities? It would give a path to invest training into to help. honestly with the swarms in ascension I hardly ever give anyone the personal touch of a bearhug
Can you use Carn's Cry to terrify a swarm and then use bear hug to kill a primordial? Would Carn's Cry keep the swarm terrified long enough for the Bearhug to kill the primordial? Thank you for sharing the screen shots. That was very cool!! π And if so, would the swarm stay terrified long enough that you could use an MOA attack or weapon technique on the swarm after the primordial was dead. I have no idea. Just want to see more screen shots of mayhem. π
I am excited to give the answer based on how nerdy it is.
Unfortunately Carn's Cry only lasts about 5 seconds, regardless of the roll. Bert's Bellow is our Stagger, which gives RT based on the roll, but that doesn't knock down the DS. So you could Bellow and then Cry, which would stagger and then fear, OR you can reduce the bearhug RT which is normally 3s as above, but if done on a Vulnerable critter is 2 seconds (like after a tackle or bullrush), AND if done with say rusalkoran bracers you can get it down to 1s). Using both bellow and cry together is how I was able to kinda sorta hunt ascension before 100.
So really the answer I think is to Carns Cry and then UCS assault them down.. otherwise their DS is just like you know, 1000+
I use a subdue and garrote with my rogue. Used from hiding garrote takes 2 seconds per round or 6 total to kill the target. That works with primordials.
In a swarm I would use subdue and eviscerate on the primodial to terrify the rest of the swarm and then use garrote on the primordial. Or use my normal routine with swams and then take care of the primordial after. Preferable using garrote or UAC ambush and fury. Anything and everything not AS related. π
Can you.... pick up the fish spine swords from the critters ? }:/
Probably. The rules on crumbly weapons are that they will not crumble while the critter that owns them is alive. So you can pick it up and use if you want. Any sort of direct interaction after the critter dies will destroy it. I don't think attacking with it counts though.

Sometimes the primordials can break out of the effects of subdue just as the 3 second RT is ending and depending how you time your attack. put stance offensive put QUICKSTRIKE -2 subdue pause 1 put get garrote put cman garroteThis script works. QUICKSTRIKE -1 subdue might be good enough. Other alternatives include waiting for the target to make a move, search, etc and then subdue and garrote. Or subduing and waiting for it to break the effect and then subdue immediately and follow up with garrote. Of those alternatives I like the quickstrike option the best. Will try more testing today.
Garrote is a nice tactic for enemies like that. You just need be very careful of being out in the open, empty handed and in offensive stance while doing it. One rank of Garrote is worth keeping around imo.

I'm not to familiar with the test server. Does it let you fixskills as much as you want to test different builds?
it has instant migration, and the ability to give yourself exp
so yes
Just not stats. Sometimes it takes a minute for all the migration of skills to happen, but its quick
Nice. I might pop on to try a few things. It might also be a good chance to figure out some title requirements.
basic commands: demo, levelup, healme
demo is used for travel, so demo teleport sailor takes you to SG, for instance
Even putting aside the fast skill migration, it does separately also have infinite fixskills.
I looked on the wiki but the article on the test server is spares. So I'm not sure how to get it working with Lich. Is the only way on through the official web site?
Nope
The second tab on Lich login is the login thing.
Oh, wait. You might need to the first time.
But that second tab with account/password and then select your character should have at the bottom the ability to select your test character
yeah i think you need to port your character over first, then logon via lich
How do you port your character over? On the website login, it looks like it is trying to make me create a brand new character when I click on Gemstone Test.
I guess, I could technically make a new character and use levelup to get to cap. I could test the title stuff like that but unless there is a "gimmegear" command, fighting in sailor's grief would be hard.
Were you recently inactive?
i was thinking the same, if you reactivated REALLY recently or not
I came back about a month ago with the promo code. How often is character data ported over to the test server?
They did a synch a couple months back, if you were inactive at that time, you missed it and will have to start a new character. Which isn't easy.
Not frequently, not again anytime soon
years in between ports, unfortunately
I can toss you 1m in silvers on Test if you have start a new guy. I don't have a lot of gear or Id offer you something. Some folks are nice and will be willing to give you things in test to use
I also had fun with basic 2x gear in sailors grief. But I cheated with ascension, because levelup above 100 is broke
I appreciate the offer but I will pass on that since most of my stuff can't be bought in-game. Unless there is a "gimmeHESS" command... But that aside, I might still try it for the title stuff. It would be A LOT easier to spade the requirements with unlimited fixskills.
;multi 10000,levelup, take a long coffee break and come back π
You do get unlimited fixskills as well. So you can just fixskill and not wait for migration
should put a sleep 0.2 in there
it's an fput pretty sure so it's fine
Available Ascension Abilities Points: 7147
what to do, what to do....
It's also much faster to level up by just holding down the numpad enter key on levelup ... like 3-5x faster than multi! Assuming you have a nifty num pad with the enter last command set to enter.
it lags, like hard. slamming 10,000 commands. The sleep helps the server react
fputs have a sleep though, it's already sleeping until the server responds.
which is inefficient and why you run like 3 of them with force π
This is how I trash stuff .. ;foreach cleans the herbs out of my inventory, ;multi grabs the white flasks at the same time
these are the insights i come to discord for
but also ;e until Char.exp >= howmuchexpyouwant;fput('levelup');end and yeah, you'll uh... have plenty of asc also

Man I can't crack that number without magic. How many AS points do you get per each Ascension Point?
I guess I'd better hop on the test server long enough to figure out which gems can be purified to like 6000+ to update my bard script.
Varies. Like a lot. Rank 1-5 costs 1, so first few cheap.
What I mean is, for each point you put in say, Edge, it's an increase of 2 right?
180 ASC pts to max str
275 to max 1 skill.
Rank 1->5 costs 1 pt each, so first 4 ranks will get +2, but that 3rd will cost 3 points, 1 for r5 2 for r6. Rank 7->10 cost 2 pts each for 8 total for the next +2 AS
Or maybe its +1 AS per rank. I cant recall if it boosts skill rank or skill bonus
That's all I'm really checking. The number gained per. Because that's going to take me a few mango season. But hopefully, I'll be done with Amor Use and then flying through Picking and Disarming Traps

Shoot, sry about the ping
Yo gravy baby
It's 1 ASC to 5, 2 per to 10, then it's 3 and 4. Most of my strength is gear and toys. I'm pretty low on XP overall. I'm at 4 per ASC for +1 attack so I shifted to doing CM and strength for a bit
Do we know if swimming affects how fast you swim or how many times you have to swim between areas?
from what I remember, it had little effect. But that may have been a bug
People were posting that they were getting around with 0 swim, I am sure that'll get updated
Yeah I think it affects stamina use. Trying to map them out with accurate distances (as accurate as you can when 1 room can be 10 feet or 100feet).
Another way to attack the primordial. Illustrates how spin kick can save the day when you initial attacks do not go as planned. I pretended I was a monk and attacked from the open.
yeah I think its a 5s swim no matter what, but affects your stamina (there's a roll in there too, I assume it ties to how much stamina gets used)
Another example of an attack not going quite as planned. I used jab twice from the open to tier up and instead was prompted first with vulnerable to grapple and then punch. Used weapon fury and it defaults to using punch until the primordial is defeated.
Confluence was very monk centric, probably still is. For sure convinced me to get better at UAC again. (I've hated it since Fu mechanically along with look and feel. Dropped it like 6x in respecs)
Yeah, failed roll is 15, success is 5, and popped muscles can't swim
Circles back to the KS problem fixing that. Empaths with realm bonding maybe? ..and you drown I imagine eventually, but thats not in
Farthest distance is ||Talon Isle to Seat of Storms at 19 swims|| shortest is ||The Contempt to Sailor's Grief at 2 swims||

Ah I wasn't paying attention, Staying afloat in the ocean taxes your body. message takes stamina too?
Yes, it costs 10 stamina to stay afloat.

Unnatural cold that has nothing to do with the ocean wind clings to the deck of the old ship. The old vessel looks too dilapidated to be seafaring, the planks of her deck weathered to a dusky silver where they are not stained grey-green by the spread of enterprising algae, but she sits tall and grim in the water. A rope ladder dangles from a space between the ship's gunnels, its lowest rungs frayed and lost to rot.

So, this week?
if it's not this week then I imagine only post DR
Yβall think theyβre gonna release it before the invading airship is ready?
I figured the area would come first since we know the quest will take a lot longer
would want any lingering issues to be worked out before you direct every gemstone hunter to stampede through the zone at the same time
i sure hope so
the things i want from the area already exist π
I figure we might see it live by end of DR, maybe between DR and EG
yeah I thought thats what the slides said, SG would be a 1-2 months, the airships 5-6 months
Can the player mail system be updated so small race characters can simply mail themselves to SG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gwth0jfdfc (trigger warning: this video contains discussion of the postal service)
With a minimum of jostling, I could ride quite comfortably
Yeah I don't know why I was expecting a fully formed idea being completed before release!
So airship thing will not be in SG? Where perchance might the airship thing occur when released?
(didn't really look, so no actual clue)
sailor's grief: new ascension hunting zone, ship graveyard, throne that's full of lightning, weather that is bad for you
gemstone quest part 2: new quest line following the gemstone quest that will introduce you to the empyrean syndicate, that will require going to sailor's grief
empyrean syndicate: guys with airships who want to farm gemstones, metaphorically, they're you. attack ascension hunting areas with airships and beam down to attack creatures there, and then attack you when you show up. travel around between ascension areas attacking them for limited time periods. drop "commbadges" that let you teleport up to the airships.
empyrean airship: somewhat instanced (??) place you go when you find a commbadge by going to an empyrean invasion in an ascension hunting zone. full of empyrean bad guys. boosted gem drops. only place to get codexes which are also bind on loot. some vagueness regarding what exactly these will be like, I think airship miniquests were suggested like "get to the engine room."
obviously the latter three things all have to happen at around the same time and after sailor's grief, sailor's grief itself can come whenever they feel like it's ready
they travel around to different ascension hunting grounds
nyxus is my summary broadly correct
We will find out on Friday, when SG is released, on August 1st. A nice day to release a thing
do they have legally distinct transporters or are they boring a hole into the hive?
gemstone quest part 2: ...that will require going to sailor's grief
I don't think this is true.
boosted gem drops.
Important to note that this is gemstones not regular gems
(I know you know that but just in case for someone else reading)
but yeah otherwise that looks right
Part of why I commented is that I saw a map of SG at one point and it had an "Airship" area and I was confused
I think the player mistook a regular ship for an airship
How about if you die in the empyrean airship they can go through your inventory and steal any gemstones found? (Ithzir rules)
I demand more diamonds!!!
(joking of course)
Is that just a gtk window Nisugi?
https://nisugi.github.io/mapgen/ Map generator creates a .svg image file. UI needs some work and still making tweaks to the underlying features. Requires areas be made compatible in the mapdb by adding a field to indicate cardinal direction of exits that are not cardinal directions.
Once the image is generated how do you use that while in game? Would it have to be manually added for use with the current ;map?
With a small edit to ;map it can support the .svg file directly. The generator provides a second file with the image and image_coords that need to be loaded into the mapdb. Then it just works. Would need to turn off mapdb auto updates to not replace your edits. Until everything gets finished.
I think the eventual goal is it would work in tandum with cartographer to build the official maps that are distributed with the mapdb when areas change, or are released. It has the ability to save\load map versions on the github to make edits easy.
look forward to the minimalist dark map pack π

Hey Siri, when is the Autumn Equinox
Siri says "September 22th to 24th if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. March 2026 if you live in the Southern Hemisphere. It is certain that Wolfloner doesn't know when SG will open. I would ask Auchand."
Is this why the game went down for maintenance yesterday?

I hear its round 200
turn wheel port
You glance across the horizon and are unable to make out out any ports.
π
Will the kraken have an insta-death attack like squeezed into a pulp or torn into parts and pieces?
regrow limbs? severed tentacles turn into grapplers for a while until killed off?
So with DR upon us, what is the goto SG must have resistance? I assume acid is a strong contender but anything else jump out to testers besides for the common ranger resist or disrupt/disint?
resist shark
Only stuff I encountered is disruption and corrosive which are the same things for HW and Hive.
Impact is another solid one
just curious how does UAC Combat do in Sailor's Grief?
I didnβt spend a ton of time on Test but it performed well
sweet, thanks for the info. Just wondering if I'm good to stay primarily UAC and make some bad investments further into it. heh
UAC seemed to be really powerful, compared to weapon defenses on a bunch of stuff
Any good Sthieve spells to steal in Sailor's Grief?
It is an enhancive item:
It provides a boost of 20 to Swimming Bonus.
This enhancement may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 42 times.
It provides a boost of 5 to First Aid Bonus.

It seems to have a lot of enhancive charges remaining.```
Michael Phelps' personal leather breastplate right here.
Wow, lol
I got the +15 helm to go with it! It also has agility.
I yearn to be Griefed.
gleaming rolaren arm griefs
Being griefed by having to travel on a boat (dwarves don't believe in the ocean)
Extremely problematic to present facts and context that render my joke wrong and dumb
it was only ok because the dwarves were going there to see the volcano, which has liquid rocks. they only accepted the water-based travel as means of exploring this new form of rock
What happens if you sail with a friend to SG and they leave you behind?
You are a fishman now.
wait, you believe in dwarves?
it's sailor's grief not sailors fun vacation weekend they get to go home from
They're just gnomes who haven't had their appointment with Dr. Now.
Is Duskruin over yet so we can grief?
First item at Mania: a dusty oil lamp, 2x a day transportation from anywhere to The Contempt
I would choose sailor's grief over silksong... just sayin π
All the parts of Duskruin that matter are over now can we plz have SG
I bought 4 resistance stubs from DR and whatever damage type hits me first in SG i am instantly using them.... Is that how adaptive resistance works???
welease da gwief
Can we end Duskruin early, please?
every time I see a new message, I hope that it's The One
Oh geez, I got to buy a sloop for this I guess
Who ever got that SK Convoke gonna make a killing summoning folks to SG
There's two now actually since I have the platinum one. I'll summon for free though
Summoning isnt the issue, its leaving.... no one can leaveβ οΈ
so excited for SG to open at 12:01am Thursday.. right?
If I just buy like a barebones sloop with zero upgrades that wouldnt matter for SG, right? Or will scary pirates hijack me as I try to sail there?
you can put up the white flag and travel safely
that's what happens when i use my weather orb to make it saucey for the new sailors π
So 101 Swimming ranks is the cutoff for minimum stamina usage swimming in SG? Is that what I gathered?
Is there a list of the area-specific gems yet?
banded mauve sugar stone
blue-veined volcanic obsidian
blue-whorled greenish ocean jasper
cabochon of striated grape jade

edited: sorry, couple of repeats
Thanks muchly. adds to gameobj-data.xml
so SG is live?
is the area around SG OSA going to be ascension creatures? π
would be cool if the sea around it was. I have a slight temptation for a bigger boat but not sure it would be worth it without ascension options
I imagine any change to OSA would be a huge deal/announcement, if it ever happened (which I doubt -- or at least not OSA as a means to get gemstones)
there's like 30 critters in every room of HW, please open SG immediately thanks bye
alternatively someone probably just went through 20 rooms in ME without seeing anything but grotesques. please open immediately π
help us obiwan auchand, youβre our only hope
Hah.
Meanwhile, I just want it open so Auchand can move on to Wyrmslayer titles!
No, transcend destiny titles!
You know whats fun? When you have no hand so you cant get out of an ooze, and you have 350 health and 60 health regen -- people have killed every ooze in the grove, but thanks to this incredible design, Im stuck in here for 15 minutes at least -- guess I will go play another game π
maybe dont have oozes with people in them despawn? -- oh sorry didnt despawn just moved like 25 rooms
Jabs should count! You can't jab without a hand?
ucs doesnt count
It should! That's just a cop out! Can't get more blunt then that.
I agree
nothing eats you in sg
yet
the sharks are ghosts so in theory I could just swim out
Today feels like the day, right?
it was an answer in yes/no -- that means its live right
day of the tentacle
Any chance it went live we just haven't noticed yet?

Wasn't there still mechanics to test? I want to say Weather being one of em
I would expect a friday launch honestly, not necessarily this friday.
Then again Auchand could work the weekend! So who knows!

SG!!!!
Heh.
grief me daddy lets go
I was thoroughly griefed
did we ever figure out how to sail to Talon Isle π
1 person did
Im not even to that step yet, how do I start my sloops engine??
engage the caterpillar drive, then make for thor's twins
Well .. all I'm gonna say is be careful what you touch.
is there a guide on how to get there yet? without a ship
||Ok, I'm a little pissed actually. I sail to SG, and I get teleported to Upper Trollfang with my ship left behind. Port master can't take me back. So I have to ask for my ship to be transfered now? Oh I can't even do that I have to wait for it to despawn. Thanks for nothing||
So I find it hard to give exact directions at sea, but if you look at the map it's basically right where the lucky seaway meets the east blue as far south as you can go on the east blue
can I bum a ride there with someone?
wait how did you get ported back
touch obelisk
You lay a hand on a silver-shot black stone obelisk. With a sudden lurching sensation, the world dissolves in a flash of colored light.
[Upper Trollfang - 7801] (u14022)
Huge trees huddle close together here and little light filters through the dense crown of lush foliage. Nearly hidden in the deep shadows, and well off the trail, is a tall wooden obelisk.
Obvious paths: south, west
Yeah don't touch the obelisk.
and the opposite doesnt work i guess
Not from the obelisk where it teleports you. Ugh I'll see you guys next week.
Aww, I was hoping they would TRAP people on the isles
I was gonna ask about the obelisks lol
I can't wait to humiliate you know who when my level 97 rogue finds his gemstone in SG next week
what is this view?
Only the best osa script ever made. sea-charts
how did you get sea-chart to work?
Are you still in-game?
No I left.
I can't read or write

It's all good Auchand. I learned my lesson. I need to pack for a trip anyways.
[fixed gtk issue for sea-charts](#scripting message)
yea sea-chart could use some love π its such a good script
to talon isle... again
Atleast we know there is way off the island for passenger guests. Spread the word, all should visit....
Well I just came very close to being the first one to die here. Got zapped by a primordial but managed to run away.
milestone mild stone if you are the first to die
Are these meant to be dropped and not crumble?
You ask the gemcutter if he would like to buy a heavy gold and copper bracelet inset with cabochon jewels.
The gemcutter takes the gold and copper bracelet, gives it a careful examination and hands you 30 silver for it.
That was fun
Hoorne apologizes for the deaths his follies caused and will attempt to negotiate passage for others.
This weekend I will be around to ferry adventurers to and fro
I assume this is part of the welcome wagon, but I have yet to find a box harder than say -100
What's Sailors Grief?
I'll also carry folks both directions for only 10k silvers each way
You pick the jewel-pipped dice up, the cold metal oddly not warming to the heat of your palm. After giving them a good shake, you roll them across the wood of the deck. Both dice come to rest showing a single onyx skull. ||A terrible chill runs through your body as the shadow of the dice seems to stretch, yawning into a great black void that engulfs all light. A laughing skull wreathed in flames roars out of the darkness, mouth agape in a silent scream as it races to devour you. You open your mouth to scream, but no sound comes out. Just as it seems you will be consumed, the skull bursts into a curtain of acrid smoke, and you hear maniacal laughter all around you. As the smoke clears, you find yourself back on the deck of the Contempt as if nothing at all has occurred. None of the crew around you seem to have noticed your ordeal.||
Roundtime: 5 sec.
So were those all capped and/or ascension creatures that instadeathed me?
If you went there, yes
Oh yes. They start around 107
If it carried the latest version from test, hardest area yet I'd say
I mean the irony is our group up in IMT took a wrong turn into Moonsedge and my level 33 self actually surived that one... Only to get smooshed once we got to Solhaven. π€£
Yeah. It's not easy.

Hopefully buying that 5-setting gold ring will do wonders for me with the various areas
They're the same as they are in Test.

A black and twisting wound in the surface of the dais has undermined its structural integrity, causing much of the northeastern quadrant to collapse. Rushing seawater races toward the edge of the stone disc, where it careens down toward the unnatural path below in frothing white falls that could rival thunder for intensity. Pits in the rock hold deep pools teeming with sealife, from dazzling fish to bright-hued anemones stretching their tendrils as if trying to hoard the remaining saltwater around them. You also see a powerful vortex and the cauldron-shaped Zhagen disk.

This probably means that I can probably 407 every box in 1 try rapidfire style, no trapsπ€
That is weird. I just did it from there. (And killed myself.)
oh there were traps, just not big ones
Not sure why the boxes were weak, but it might have had to do with the lack of gem spawns?
* Auchand just bit the dust!
Getting a bit OP out there!
The merrows have also sent people to my home. But they do not know me. I am the frigging lizard king.
You trenchlings wanna start a street fight with me, youre gonna be surprised how ugly it gets
I'm actually pleased that it's been a relatively smooth release.
There's one bug with the Fair and Foul benefit for Moghreb Jungle.
I dont think anyone knows what that means yet, so youre good π
these trenchlings got star of tamzyrr grills
Yes, I do have a task for you. I've recently received several orders from customers interested in purchasing a fiery gold-flecked sunstone.
And so it begins, a whole new locker worth of bottled gems π₯²
locker? what locker are you getting to lol
I guess that grand ole locker in the sky (FWI)
there are lockers in SG right (yea FWI!)
That does not work here.``` muahahhahaha
There not even a locksmith in SG, RIP boxes... just leave em on the ground
so I see a bunch of sticks so far, where's the carrot for SG?
The skins prices are currently bonkers, you could reach soft cap in like 2 days
So far I'm hearing "send a rogue to Sailor's Grief to take everyone's abandoned boxes and pick them at a table."
tables are all full -- maybe they can have a table lottery in a few months
no carrots only sticks, dont come here, nobody come here please π
just pick at whatever the node is there
The locksmith pool? The entire place is a locksmith pool. Get it?
Wait, you guys should just embrace the old-school ways and 125 all your non-enruned, non-mithril boxes.
I had to ask is a local locksmith was available, then we had to find a table, then I had to place all my boxes on the ground and then..... then I had to.... had to......
Make small talk while I waited for my boxes to be picked manually π
now we enter the Grief phase.
denial, anger, bargaining, something something darkside, acceptance.

I updated the map with advguild and advguard tags
Also, where was this obelisk at for teleporting?
right past the dock a room or two, but it takes you to the landing
Is there a discussion somewhere about updating the mapdb to use the image that's pinned here?
Not really discussion needed, someone just needs to do the work.
Yeah, the discussion would be whether someone else has a different image and is already doing the thing.
I can do the work of updating the mapdb, but I don't particularly want to own the authorship of the map image itself.
Nope. Nisugi was working on a different map thing, not sure the status on that and I was working on a different map thing so we never bothered to map the actual image during testing.
ooof. ship despawns, obelisk to landing, 15 minute portmaster to kf, 30 minute transfer ship from talon to kraken. π¬ saddle up for that frontier life. fwi access can't happen fast enough.

anyone care to share the min swimming/climbing required for SG? also, does water walking help at all? think i saw a comment saying 101 ranks of swimming, but curious if that's min requirement to get around... looking to check it out this weekend
Anyone sailing to Talon Isle soon who I can ride along with? I am good company!
Okay, I think I've got all the image coords added to the map. In terms of getting from The Contempt to Talon Isle/Seat of Storms/Sailor's Grief, is it just a matter of jumping into the water and swimming using SENSE?
Yes. The contempt moves around
If you're going from one of the other areas to another area it's the same path, only the path to/from contempt changes
swimming affects the stamina you use while swimming; so i get by with my piddly 30 ranks just fine but i have juiced stamina regen. climbing you're more likely to want at 101. some good climbing checks around sg
Maybe this already came up and I missed it: is sweep not working by design or will that be fixed?

no scarabs really? or does it not matter
I dont think I have run into a scarab yet
I think I've got the map working. I'm working with Tysong to get it uploaded.
The difficulty will obviously be corrected. Not sure why it is so low.
I figured flopping around on tails made them like a worm. Good to know sweeping is in the forecast.
going to bounty boost 200 skin bounties before this happens brb
Im okay with 35 but I have an immense stamina pool -- climbing is gonna be more than 75 for sure (which I do not have lol)
yah, i'm at 40/40 atm but have a few points i can toss into climbing... been slacking on it for a while
climbing really just means you cant get to half of the seat of storms, 90% of the content is accessible without climbing
good to know
the supernode has a decent climbing check on it π
Auchand not sure if you answered this, but is the intent to eventually have the following available in SG?
- locksmith pool
- FWI access
- an herbalist
Maybe try ;repo download-mapdb and see if these changes are working for anyone else? First time updating mapdb, be gentle.
The sooner its working, the more likely i am to come see firsthand the glorious Nitos hurling clutter. π
Note it won't take you from the contempt to any of the hunting grounds, but while you're in the hunting grounds, it should be fine.
And hey, I'm as fastidious as they come!
Well, and also learn how to find/upgrade/deploy/use my boat.
If you sweep high enough....
Spectral Primordials incoming
Can any other CoL people test if sign of darkness works in SG and what room it takes you to? I am 0 for 4 with it around various places and it just fails and still drains my spirit
Still hoping we get confirmation on if there will be a locksmith pool and FWI access
Must have a platinum subscription to access locksmith pool.
Yeah there's a Sandals on Talon Isle you just need to be platinum
I mean I point blank think having a locksmith pool is a make or break thing for people hunting the area. I assume there will be one
I can't find my notes from the SimuCon panel but I feel like these questions were asked there, too, and that the answer was yes re: locksmith pool & FWI access. But I can't remember and idk if there's a recording to double-check.
so in other words, I'm zero help here, go about your business. π π
Creatures now have body parts.
I can only imagine the "SailorsGriefBodyParts = FALSE" or whatever hilarious code that had to be fixed for this lol
NCNU (non corporeal non undead) sounds like a true nightmare
groin-kickers of Elanthia rejoyce
Now that Sailor's Grief is live, I want to give thanks to some of the heroes behind the scenes who got us here.

You inquire with the shipbroker about chartering a vessel. The shipbroker says, "I can currently connect you to the following destinations:
1) Vornavis
2) Kraken's Fall
If you would like to ORDER a trip to any of these destinations, please do so by its number now."```
What's the refund policy on KF boats?
if you take your ship to SG, will it despawn after a few hours like the other ports?
I'll be working to put appropriate OSA NPCs in.
I'm not sure if this happens everywhere but I've never seen it before. I have bounties set to both (ascension and regular). I've gotten bounties from Seldit before. This time when I asked, I had to try twice:
Seldit says, "I'm sorry Nitos, but I don't seem to have any tasks that are suitable for you. Perhaps you might want to head to another town that provides a more appropriately challenging environment for you?"
>ask seld about bou
Seldit nods to you and says, "Looking for something to do, Nitos? I've got just the thing for you. If you want to know more, simply ask me about BOUNTIES."
>
Seldit says, "I've got an urgent mission for you. We have a creature problem we'd like you to solve. Go report to the Captain to find out more. You can find usually find him in his quarters. Be sure to ASK about BOUNTIES."```
double bps!
Actually, It would be cool if you could have more than one bounty going at a time, or CHALLENGE bounties, kill 15 oracles in 15 minutes or you get nothing. If you succeed double the bps/experience
damn kill x + grizzled in 15 minutes unlocks a jackpot bonus
I just ran into a kelpie on Talon Isle, but they're not listed as being there on the wiki. If anyone wants to update it others might benefit!
Another note: it would be handy if there was a trash can at the quartermaster (pawnshop)
** Your somnis spiked mace glows brightly for a moment, consuming the magical energies around the humpbacked merrow! **
[SMR result: 125 (Open d100: 13, Bonus: 80)]

Gaping hole torn in the humpbacked merrow's back exposing ribs.
AS: +757 vs DS: +536 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +11 = +273
... and hit for 80 points of damage!
You hear several snaps as the humpbacked merrow's neck is broken in several places.
Colored spittle tinged with venom explodes from a grizzled humpbacked merrow's mouth as she chokes on her final breaths and collapses into a blubbery heap.
The constricting bands surrounding a grizzled humpbacked merrow shatter into nothingness.```
Someone left their trash around
Auchand, could you nail down the adventurer's guild please? Having the first mate wander around is -.- meh
Also, I know I have bugged you about this in the past but can the Captain (and Rawknuckle in HW) have a Wrayth dropdown menu item for ask about bounty?
Howβs the first mate gonna do their duties if they canβt wander!?
anyone know if you can 740 to and from SG? not sure if it was ever fixed for travel to/from HW, but hoping that becomes an option at some point
Ideally monsters should spawn and attack the first mate and if you let him die you just canβt do bounties for a couple hours
Is there a boatmaster in Solhaven now, or is it just a one way ticket home from SG?
Anyone test the public transportation to SG? What is the fastest way to SG? Personal boat from Solhaven, public boat from Solhaven, or public boat from KF? (Cannot remember if each port trip in Elanthia is the exact same length)
I thought boats were always 10 minutes (except the glaesen star yes yes go away pedants)
so far i have not found a sense-able room
Personal boat is going to be faster
I would not recommend using a personal boat until there's a handler
My boat despawned (or whatever the official term is) and I don't really have an exit strategy at the moment.
Will there be a locksmith pool NPC?

i like the guy who ran out of the room to run back into the room
It's like, oh yeah, I meant to swarm you sorry. I'm back now.
it just overshot by a little π€
it's like red thraks times 1000 .. I'm like nope nope nope n... wait their teeth are worth how much? yep yep yep yep
hehe
although.. now that they SIGH have body parts or whatever, I guess they wont all be in perfect condition
I meant to keep one and ,,,forgot
I thought the purpose of SG's 100 difficulty boxes and 100% perfect skins was to add another 10 billion silvers a month to the economy, is that not what Wyrom wanted??
Note to self: do not cast major shock against a lightning whelk while standing in a tide pool
Coward!
Oh no, I mean I did it. Note for next time π
do it every time. exert dominence. become the lightning primordial.
My wizard is like Mr. Lightning. But we will adapt!
I'm also curious if we're going to see mount travel here, or within the area itself to different places?
Yes, but you have to buy the waterwalking unlock at RW. (this is a joke)
Landing on Talon Isle and getting immediately SMR'd by something reminds me of hunting in the bowels, good times
MDR? more like MDK amirite :cries in depart:
Yeah just got ambushed hard trying to leave the water after swimming from the Contempt. Dangerous! Hehe.
ask for sailor's grief nelemar regionals!
gotta kill tenctacles to earn area currency to buy the anti-lightning goop
not really
The climbing isnt too bad if you have empty hands, but dangerous!
A sudden tailwind catches you by surprise, propelling you forward with sudden celerity.```So this just gave me celerity and cost me a spell sever spell. I would suspect that's not the intention.
Feels like 506 (and 515) shouldn't even really be subject to sever
anyone seen a trashcan around or do we throw everything into the ocean?
Gemstone's going to have its very own floating garbage island
some muck
Oof, 30k to transfer my ship back. Guess I'll go back to HW =p
are people sailing back to civilization to have their boxes opened
We need to create some F2P accounts and station them on the islands to avoid having to swim.
225 life
Anyone hunting that area seriously would probably want to start buying the 30 day simucoin gold rings
someone open up dr again real quick so i can get a multisetting ring π
Stretching like long fingers towards the ocean, the docking structure has five distinct piers that provide ample room for portage. A large sign provides directions to the various berths, the instructions painted in several colors upon a black background, while a constantly burning lantern rests above. Three tie pilings border the western edge of the platform, while two more are arranged upon the east. You also see a sturdy oak catwalk.
Obvious paths: east, south, west
(You can INQUIRE with a shipbroker here for a list of travel destinations.)```
```[Marshtown, Surde's Pier]
The pier is long and wide, but is utilized primarily by small rowboats and skiffs used for shallow-water fishing. The dock is packed with anglers who are busy trying to catch dinner or fish to sell at market. Splatters and stains on the dock show that the fish caught here are often cleaned here.
Obvious paths: north
(You can INQUIRE with a shipbroker here for a list of travel destinations.)```
Need a sailor on the contempt that accepts griefmarks and will row you to the different areas instantly in exchange for griefmarks.
Silvered by time and the cruel caress of the elements, the expanse of dock is littered with pale sand and strewn with drying leaves from the vines tangling its pilings. Bright flowers in the colors of a spectacular sunset unfurl along the lengths of the vines. A few frayed black ropes hang from one of the pilings, swaying like raven locks in the ocean breeze.
Obvious paths: south
[Spicers' Sea, Waters - 35604] (u7150401)
The breadth of the Spicers' Sea conceals all but the faintest silhouettes of distant islands, barely discernible against the horizon's edge. Vast, drifting colonies of seaweed form patchwork rafts in a variety of greens and browns. Rolling thunder echoes ceaselessly as if in a shouting contest with the pounding waves. You also see a scratched mithril strongbox and a battered steel box.
and so starts the spicer's sea garbage patch π€£
Maybe all that crap should just end up on the treasure beach.
Nitos just arrived.
Taking a running leap, Nitos cannonballs into the water below!
Wow...
You take aim and fire a faewood arrow at a fulminating stormborn primordial!
A clean miss.
The arrow streaks off into the distance!
Some of these guys are hard to hit...
Apropos of nothing, if we've got a low-level character, say an empath who doesn't know 225, hanging around town, is it true that the only way to get him off the island is to have him swim out to Talon Isle and run over to the portmaster? Asking for a friend.
I can summon to icemule
wizard gate works
I guess maybe a gold ring would work
Primordials are quite strong because of their stats. I am mulling an ability that might make them more hittable and more deadly. Right now they're a little weak on the attack side.
Oh dang, I'm stuck. Ship got repo'd, and can't use the shipbroker:
You inquire with the shipbroker about chartering a vessel. The shipbroker says, "I can currently connect you to the following destinations:
1) Vornavis
2) Kraken's Fall
If you would like to ORDER a trip to any of these destinations, please do so by its number now."
>order 1
The shipbroker refuses to take you to Vornavis because you did not arrive from there.
>order 2
The shipbroker refuses to take you to Kraken's Fall because you did not arrive from there.```
I'd use the obelisk for now. I'm getting a dockmaster in.
oh the grotesques of SG
Ah, this is not a long term thing then?
Go2 with 5-way teleport ring sounds complicated but I think its possible?
someone can just keep a f2p at the dock
na the tentacles take up that slot, i believe
I've seen them reach 1200+ melee DS in defensive as well. Stancing and dispel bring them into ranges though, but like Auchand said, their offense isn't too bad, yet.
Can we ring off of SG?
No, I meant ring from town to the docks
they have surprisingly little health though
They have some other affect I ran into that when you hit it, zaps you with lightning. I'm not quite sure what caused that yet but it wasn't fun for Peri.
The shipbroker will continue. The obelisk will eventually become unreliable as a way home.
Sure, if they want to be murdered by lightning!
Where is town? Is that the "400s" on the map?
The Contempt is basically resting spot, though it lacks some amenities.
no town is the contempt, which is 600's on the map i'm looking at
Lightning Directive: once every 10 minutes roll D100 for lightning hit, 5+ for F2P and 95+ for normal sub
That was a fun day of hunting in SG. I learned a lot doing a few hunts in each area. They all feel challenging in their own ways. The swimming took a bit to figure out but it's not so bad now. Landing in an "unsafe" area feels a little risky but not such a huge deal.
Once I can get my ship back, and there's a locksmith pool, and FWI access, I'll definitely be back!
no, there's three in that area
