I had one situation once, I think the same dancing penguin one that Leafi had... where the trigger was to vote.
I sat there for like 3 minutes trying to vote and couldnt. I finally panicked and just did a Report of "I'm here! I'm trying to vote! It wont let me vote!"
and they responded with a chuckle and said thanks for responding.
Later investigation - i had an ;alias setup for vote that was subverting my attempt to vote. What a bozo.
Mental note - dont ever use aliases that would supercede an actual verb needed in the game.
*EDIT: on that same topic of aliases causing issues. I got stuck in the check in at the inn once, because for some silly reason I had made the #4 and alias as well... and so the game wouldn't recognize me typing 4 for done.... it took me like 10 minutes to figure out why I couldn't get out of the check in...

That's how I feel when I get a script check and I don't understand what the GM is asking me to do.
I just start panicking and worried that I'm going to get pulled in. Doesn't help that years ago a GM didn't like the fact that I didn't answer their script check right away and instead asked a question.
I think that's part of the issue: every experience with a GM is going to be different, and people who have never been script checked before act like it's all just very uniform and you should already know what to expect and how to react.

Took me a good 30 seconds to realize they were talking about my character's pick they pull out just to skin things and when I noticed the script check my character wasn't even holding the pick.

I've seen people get the "what color are your pants" type check.... and I admit, my initial reaction would be to type inventory and spend 30 seconds scanning my inventory.

I feel like GMs are looking for you to be responsive and if you can prove that without being able to answer specifically the script check there's wiggle room there.

At the very least it would start an interaction where it would quickly become apparent that you are there.

If I were asked the color of my clothing, usually I'd know it offhand. At absolute least, I'd know within a range of three colors. I think I'd MYCHAR or even say aloud the possible colors before checking my inventory (like "mychar suddenly ponders whether she's wearing her silver, gold, or black shoes today") just to signal I'm there and doing something that a script probably wouldn't, then check inventory afterward to confirm.

It's something of a self-reinforcing loop. For as expensive as people seem to think Ascension is, I was worried it could be drastically worse given the amounts of exp floating out there.
Maybe it still can be in the future. Who knows? We'll see.

I agree. Hunting gets pretty boring, but planning out the optimal attack routine for your character is actually fun. It's actually more fun setting up bigshot for the first time and seeing that it works smoothly than actually hunting.

I wouldn't blame the GMs for this, I'd blame all the people that came before you for coding things like that into their scripts for making them be suspicious of such things.... like the one guy put explosives in his shoe and now TSA makes EVERYONE go through the metal detectors in stocking feet

I used to find hunting to be fun, and then the GMs changed loot so that it moves around. Ugh! If the area I'm hunting in goes broke, where did that loot go? How the hell should I know. I don't know where everyone else is hunting and putting pressure on loot. My play time is very limited, I don't have time running all over creation to find where the money went.

Since we are all just throwing out fun ideas, I'll throw this one out there again - Savants should be released as a lawyer class that can be hired by other players to bring suit against those that have wronged them - like AFK scripters poaching kills. Wyrom can be the high judge who will listen to ALL the cases and pass judgment. There can be big fines, seize gear and sell at public auction to pay off the penalties. It could create a deterrent from doing annoying things, create fun public silvers auctions, and employ and make wealthy a whole new profession that otherwise provides nothing of value to the world as a whole. Win-win all around!

I think Romulus was one at one point. I didn't pay much attention to sorcs, since they were mostly fully functional even in GS3 days. I know Altiron was over Wizards.
