Tired of sagging toffees, moody molasses, or brittle bonbons that shatter hopes and teeth alike? Then allow me to introduce the Gnomic Candy Press, the finest confection-crafting contraption ever to clatter through the halls of invention, proudly brought to you by the ingenious burghal gnome duo of Fryc and Shives.

With one well-timed crank and a murmur of gumption, this dazzling device turns your stickiest dreams into sugared splendor. Simply drop in a foraged fruit or berry, add a bit of honey, give it a firm crank and a confident nod, and wumbo wambo, perfection is made!

Each model is hand-riveted, lightly enchanted, and rumored to contain a gear or two salvaged from a clock that never ran backward. Supplies are limited. Results are delightful. Fryc swears by it, Shives refuses to make candy without it, and I personally guarantee it will sweeten your day or mildly inconvenience someone else's.

OOC Information:
The Gnomic Candy Making Machine will allow you to put honey, fruit/berries from the foraging system, and a roller into the machine to create candy. Each application adds 10 candies to the machine's dish. However, if you use a grot'tkel potion on it, then there is a 10% chance that the candy produced will be magical and can be imbedded with a spell. We have updated imbed to handle this special candy. Additionally, there will be store called Honeyed Gears that will allow you to search a pile for a random roller (over 300 design options), purchase a Bug's on Parade, Jeeper's Creepers, or Aquatic Life roller that allows you to PUSH one of those insects into it to change the design, a Candy-inator Jar, and a Roller-inator case (which will also hold 1 machine and up to 4 jars -- but these do not stack).

FAQ

Can the candy work with 325? No, 325 only works with orb gems.
Can the machine be broken for an orb? Yes, we've updated it for that functionality.
How is it limited? This is the special BattleVault item.
Can they be account-attuned? No, like all special items in a BattleVault, they are character attuned.
How many rollers can the case hold? 75 individual rollers, no stacking
How many rollers are there? Over 300, not include the three themed cylinders you can purchase.```
How much candy can the jar hold? 45 unique pieces that can stack
Does it hold the magic candy? No, it does not.

Couple of points of clarity

My Machine says it will create "a zig-zagging bumble bee" candy but is making a bear. The zig-zagging bumble bee is a stamp if you create magical candy. It can be customized. Whatever roller you have in the machine determines the shape of the candy. This is not a bug.

I see from the FAQ that it will not work with 325. If this is for purely mechanical/coding reasons, very disappointing, but I understand.

If it's based on the justification that "325 only works on orb gems", this is false, as it also can be applied to all ranger-imbued items. Given that both ranger imbues and these candies are derived from foraged items, I would posit that 325 SHOULD be able to work. I would submit further evidence regarding the use of grot t'kel as a vector of justification, as 325 can be used on grotted ranker trinkets to RE-imbed spells as well.

I agree with Ouendi's arguments. In fact, I regularly use 325 to bless rods and ranger trinkets. If the issue is that only the "imbed" verb was made compatible, hopefully the syntactically similar "bless" verb can be made compatible at some point. Holy candy will be the best candy!

As a ~~super nerd~~ wizard, this will 100% be my favorite vault item ever, but I don't personally think the bar on allowing 325 makes much sense. I apologize if I'm missing the reasoning behind it.
From what I understand the main distinction between 420 and 325 in regards to imbedding is that 420 is able to imbed everything 325 can and in addition to that can also imbed true magic items (borrowing D&D-esque terminology to specifically refer to the blank imbeds the treasure system and sometimes shops or events can generate. Often they are either jewelry or wands but not always (there are orbs, statues ect.). 325 does get some cool additional options though beyond imbedding spells.
Since the machine uses foraged items to produce the candies they sound very much like ranger imbeddables (the ones made with imbue((614)) using foraged items), rather than true magic items.
Regardless of dev design intent though I think this is a wonderful vault item, I could see it being several years before I see one that I like as much or more than this. I'd like to thank Thandiwe for putting hard work into making this, I didn't think anything would catch my attention as much as Tomeward Bound at this RW but I was proven wrong. 😂

just confused because I had some with stamps on it (from same batch of candy) and some not and the candy jar is telling me it's magic candy and neither candies are letting cast 420 at them to Imbed.   i'm confused 😕

 1.  a critter-cut bronze cylinder, it yields "a snail-shaped (honey) candy" (which is ready to be plucked)
 2.  an insect-cut copper cylinder, it yields "a ladybug-shaped (honey) candy"
 3.  an avian-cut platinum cylinder, it yields "a wren-shaped (honey) candy"
 4.  an iguana-cut platinum roller, it yields "an iguana-shaped (honey) candy"

Point of Clarity as I go through bug reports on the machine.

My Machine says it will create "a zig-zagging bumble bee" candy but is making a bear. The zig-zagging bumble bee is a stamp if you create magical candy. It can be customized. Whatever roller you have in the machine determines the shape of the candy. This is not a bug.

Reading through this and catching up... 325 BLESS is still out, it's only 420 IMBED can be used, despite common usage of ranger trinkets, things with grot, maybe treasure found jewelry, etc?

It always seemed to have the same system under the hood, as both have the same.... oddities with syntax: "prep 420, cast MY item", but with "imbed" or "bless" you do not use 'my item' or it fails

Couple of bug fixes here:

There's a rare chance for the adjective of the candy to get cut off, that won't happen going forward.
There was a brief bug where the machine wouldn't go in the case, analyzing it resolves the issue.
There was another brief bug where the jar wouldn't go in the case, analyzing resolves this issue, too.
There was a small chance for a honeybee roller to come out of the search pile broken, please assist to have it fixed.
There was a bug w. the Jeepers Creepers roller that wasn't allowing you to push in avians. This is resolved.

I purchased a case for rollers, when you Analyze it, it says "GET (remove machine) - I assumed this meant that I could store my candy machine in the Case, but when you try and put the machine in the case , it indicates that there is already one in there - but, of course, there isn't. I do think the machine is a neat thing and clearly a lot of effort went into it, and that imbeddables is likely just a bonus and not meant to be the primary function, BUT.. the exclusion of 325 -feels- bad yanno, particularly since the reasons seem arbitrary and misinformed.. to the point I chucked mine in my locker and haven't looked at it.. and even debate breaking it for the orb every time I see an imbedded candy passed around

I would try to phrase it nicer than this... but in essence, I agree. If the reason for 325 being excluded was even "Because I (GM) said so", I would accept and respect that as their decision to make. However, when I see a reason given as being technical yet inaccurate (such as 325 only being with orb gems), then... well, I want to correct the misinformation, so the people making decisions have the best and correct information available to them.

I use both bless and imbed on my characters, and I see the same oddities of syntax that strongly suggest that IMBED and BLESS are using the same system under the hood, which would then suggest that mechanically it's possible. I am a user, though, not dev, so that assertion could be me putting the 'ass' into 'assumption.'

I know personally when I QCed these, I didn't think to ask about BLESS. But when it was brought up I did look, and it wouldn't be a simple thing. Thandiwe had to recode a bunch of stuff to get imbed to work with the candy, and that's not something we would do on the fly, especially being CE GMs dabbling in Dev systems

Thank you for the extra effort into looking into the feasibility of it. If it's not feasible in a short time frame, then I get it. I would also rather hear a frank "Unlikely to happen in short order due to xxx reasons" than a promise it will happen in the future. I know there are different GMs working in different areas with different priorities, and one's workload is probably not impacted by another... but I also have several characters who bought battle vaults for the golems. [Remainder unsaid / implied, as not related to Rumor Woods or the gnomish candy machines]

One of the things that you have to understand is that we have to go through extensive approval processes for things. I put together an approval and I typically throw the kitchen sink at it. When players come back and are like "is it possible for..." Then I ask. It costs me nothing to ask, but if it isn't in the cards then my hands are tied. I had to completely learn the mechanics of the imbedding system to get this done and it wasn't an overnight thing.

After the most excellent rolemodel that Mister @merry sleet has been, I asked ChatGPT to finish up the cleaning up of a part of the Ruby for the candyrollers comparision/checking script I wrote today. (I had very low expectations, it was not a simple thing.)

I was utterly amazed at how well that went. It was picture perfect the first time.

I guess I may need to stop underestimating ChatGPT.

I'm fairly certain that it went in an alchemy jar first, then into a vasculum. If you just put all foraged items straight into vasculum, identically named items do not stack when found at different locations. So I generally forage my items, jar them, then put them in vasculum so I don't get 4 different stacks of the same item in the vasculum.

But I THINK the wood-handled honey there came from someone else's basketifier. (so can't be basketed by others)

It's pourable (and drinkable) and works in the machines just fine though. They can be purchased someeewhere around Nations I think though if you want them in your own basket. MORE EDIT cause I'm VERY TIRED: I know they are around there I just have to remember where.

So, I had some pourable cinnamon honey from an old dipp-ables shop. It worked with the candy maker but didn't add cinnamon to the flavor. It's the only honey I've tried so far, do the other honeys like wildflower, give special messaging? Or is it just for fun to have a different flavor honey? heh

If it is a food item that is honey, then it pretty much doesn't know what kind of honey it is. If it is a tea-honey, they it kind of has an idea and does the needful.

The vasculums keep the location (and need to) or the herbs won't work for bounties. Alchemy does not care about location, but bounties absolutely do. Can the candy machine just ignore the missing or defaulted location?

Yeah, when I grab forageables for bounties, I don't put them in the vasculum OR the jar, I just put them in a regular container and run them to the bounty person.

There is one specific piece of information that the candy machine needs from the fruit. If that specific field is being removed, then it won't work. Without looking at the the items involved, I can really only guess.

I expect it is the jar that is stripping the information... but whoever had the strawberries could check by comparing a) forage only, b) forage to vasculum to candy machine, c) forage to jar to candy machine, and see which works and which doesn't. I expect it's the jar.

I wonder if some of these foods are lightly "scripted" as food to give different messaging, and this is stripped when going into the jar to be just a generic item.
