Anyone get any of this armor? I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Here’s my review so far.

It is excellent and way too classy for me. At least for the level of character using it.

The flares:

They flare like totem flares do. That is they seem to have their decision done to flare before combat starts.

This means that the benefit happens far more often than say spikes or other flares which was a surprise. And it was a pleasant one. This is especially good if you aren’t using offensive cmans or if you’re spelled to the gills you still get use out of your 400 million silver armor.

Anyway. Makes me want to transmute my plate mail. I can’t afford to. But I sure want to.

The stuff is fun. Mechanically sound. And while expensive the benefit is perceptible.

Cons;

The price.

If you’re in cooldown from a successful flare against 1 bad guy, then 2 more walk in, and you get another flare, the haste/AS benefit won’t increase. They do seem to get knocked down though. It would be hard to make this balanced and not nonsensical in implementation. But I’m trying to come up with cons. I’m just complaining about cooldowns though.

Pros:
Flares are fun.

Material slot means you can still do whatever else to your armor.

The haste effect is fun.

Knockdown is good.

Flares happen regardless of the outcome of combat (evade, dodge, outright block all still flare)

Anyone else? Thoughts?

I'm a huge fan. Pretty much the same experience as yours, though I haven't put it on armor yet - only weapons (where it is arguably weaker). The fact that it can flare defensively on armor even on misses makes it potentially appealing to just about anyone, even the pures that sit in guarded and are untouchable.

As you mentioned, the cost is very high. It would be nice if it followed a similar scaling model to vethinye, with unlocks. That would potentially make it more affordable for the initial investment allowing buyers to build it up over time. Something like T1/T2/T3 where the number of targets that can be knocked down is 1d(tier). Since the AS/CS bonus is already tied to the knockdown, that would automatically scale too.

Final note, it should be attunable to mitigate the cost burden further for those who prefer that route (this is something I've requested already!). Would make a big difference.

All in all, one of the coolest materials in game - unique effect, meaningful impact, doesn't conflict with anything. Just overshadowed by that scary price tag.

I use 506 and see zero benefit from the haste buff but the defensive ability of the armor is what attracted me to it given that it flares reactively in any stance and even when the enemy misses.

Still waiting on my transmute(put in the 12th). My review comes with heavy bias as Im coming from adamantine(worst material in the game tbh)

This look normal for an SMR attack? I had this fish spine sword transmuted to rusalkan (seemed like a nice thematic).

Strong currents tug at a shrickhen, pulling him about in an attempt to roll over him.
[SMR result: 74 (Open d100: -74, Bonus: 75)]
Standing his ground, a shrickhen is able to withstand the force of the tidal wave.```

And I should add that overall I love the effects that the metal brings to my attacks, it's really cool, I'm loving it!!

As you recall Naamit's song, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the void black full plate in your hand, and you learn something about it...

It imparts a bonus of +40 more than usual.
It protects against magical attacks with a bonus of 20.
It is an enhancive item:
It provides a boost of 10 to Strength Base.
It provides a boost of 10 to Constitution Base.
It provides a boost of 10 to Combat Maneuvers Bonus.
It seems to have a huge number of enhancive charges remaining.
It will persist after its last enhancive charge has been expended.
It appears to weigh about 38 pounds.
It is estimated to be worth about 1,002,500,000 silvers.
It is somewhat padded to lessen the damage the wearer takes.
It is heavily padded against critical blows.
It is predominantly crafted of rusalkoren.
It has been sanctified 5 times. It has permanent Holy Fire flares.
It is an overwhelming project (1,293 difficulty) for an adventurer to modify.
It is tier 5 Mana-Infused Armor.
It has the Least Moods and Battle Armor Flourishes.
It has a permanently unlocked loresong by Naamit.

@hoary tendon Oh and like, the mechanics are great too. Area wide control under extreme circumstances and the like. Procs often.

I'll tack on an armor accessory.. I have a set of Rusalkoren leg greaves that are nice. Let's me get the flares on sweep. Most of the benefit I see is the -1 RT. Not sure it's worth the 50k, but I'm using it for now and have switched from hamstring to sweep.
