Yes.
It's basically the reason I'm selling. The only things I'd want magma on are weapons, but I can just go the Flare Gloves route for that at similar costs (because I'm not overly worried about the stamina drain). Magma's real nice on armor, but all my armor either already has the flare slot filled or it's robes or something else where I don't want to be taking hits, heh.
Amazing for full plate warriors, though! Or shields, for that matter, if you're into shields!

yeah 30k shards for weapon and not sure how much for armor (as much or more).
