Mana vials. I failed to mention that, thanks for catching it.

The mana vials can only flare on hit against critters with mana, however they then restore 5-75 mana based on the drinker's stats. It can make up to 9 vials every 48 hrs, and the vials last 21 days.
You might honestly want to keep the staff and set up a shop selling the mana vials. Make sure you label expiration dates.
