||recall potato loresong|| wins GemStone.
Well, what other adventurers see when I do it ๐
for anyone curious, I was able to reach max happiness from what I consider to be casual attention in roughly 55 hours
Sometimes I can envision myself yelling at my potato "Be Happy!!!"
is there a guide for teh potato yet?
Start of one: https://gswiki.play.net/Quee_Potato
Ty
My latest addition to the "Pitbull or Potato?" meme
Given the choice of what to have on my shoulder, I'd pick the potato.
Pitatos are great.
Pitties on my shoulder make me happy. They best snugglers.

I know I'm late to the party replying to things from long ago, but this is full on vampire stuff.
I know I am showing my age with this but this reminds me of an old Goosebumps episode where one of the characters discovers a potato with teeth that can suck out a someone's life force.
Found it! https://goosebumps.fandom.com/wiki/Lanx
If you think remembering Goosebumps stories makes you look old around here, you are underestimating the average age of the GS player base.
There is a new Goosebumps on Hulu - it's pretty good
Viewer beware, you're in for a scare.
I'm sure its been asked but there is a lot in the thread to read. Will the potato only grow what you feed it? I see people with different things growing on theirs...
Yes. It will change if you feed it something else.
did anyone notice if at DM if they had a potato accessory for the dolls?
You could use a mould if you had the sort of thing you wanted.
I looked through the stock pretty carefully at the time and don't remember a little potato, but now I want my doll to have a little potato! And yeah, I wonder if the molds would work...
I did put a snapshot of all the inventory inside the DM portion of the last EG video. Apologies, I don't have it in text form, just visual.
You sir are a genius!!
You are about to create a doll-sized duplicate of a half-eaten sentient potato wearing a plush brown teddy bear costume. While the full description of the miniature replica will be stored, the created item will appear only as a "doll-sized <noun>", but once the accessory is placed on an appropriate doll, the description will appear as the original item. LOOK will show you the stored description.
If you are sure you want to do this, please repeat your command within 15 seconds!
>push mold
Holding a rectangular mold of clay securely in your hand, you press your sentient potato firmly against the pliable material, which transforms into a miniature replica of your potato.
>tap pot
You tap a doll-sized potato, which is in your left hand.
>get p doll
You remove a short pacifist doll from in your traveller's cloak.
>push pot
You adorn your pacifist doll with a doll-sized potato.
>look at doll
You see a short pacifist doll. The doll has aubergine red hair cascading downward in a riotous mass of loose curls and has gold-flecked forest green eyes that stare blankly at you. It has a broken nose centered on its tiny face, and two plump and floppy ears are secured to its head. It is wearing a bright red cotton backpack painted with white circles, a mangy black sewer rat, a wide gold-plated girdle, a red and black tartan kilt, and a pair of red socks with bright white tassles. It is holding nothing in its right hand and a half-eaten sentient potato wearing a plush brown teddy bear costume in its left hand.
There is a small pink mass tucked into the doll's chest cavity and a key slot along its back.```
honestly, I'm surprised you didn't go with putting the little potato on your potato directly
oh....so if i did that could the lil potato look like it had a potato? like you know when you look into a mirror with a mirror behind you? because I have another mold ๐ so lets say i make a mold of the potato, put it on the potato. then make a mold of the potato on the potato and so on ans so forth
awww, it didnt work
The doll-sized potato doesn't seem to be able to work with your sentient potato.```
I think because he is wearing the teddy bear outfit, he cant wear the lil potato
dress sent pot with pot
You need to UNDRESS a half-eaten sentient potato wearing a plush brown teddy bear costume first.```
yeah, I think they can only have one piece of clothing on them
I don't think held doll accessories work
potatoes definitely don't work with the handheld accessories, wyrom confirmed that
I didn't code the potato with hands or feet, sorry.
Snackrilege!
now there's some feature creep. be able to shove doll arms/legs into it so that you can put stuff in/on them. I gave mine a rapture cloak.. couldn't resist
mine's not fully fostered yet but as soon as it is it's getting a seasonally appropriate tiny red woolen scarf
anyone know of a hill where potatoes like to play?
yep! I use these locations. Most are near or around WL, one is in RR, and one is on Locksmehr trail. You can probably use FWI for the jungle, im not premie so...

@woeful solar Should probably wrap it in spoiler tags before someone writes feedback.
by now... alla our Taters are spoil'd! (or eaten)
You pet your potato and it whispers, "You're the best potato mom a Quee could ask for." The potato glows for a moment and infuses its spirit into you. It looks drained.
[You were awarded 491 experience.]
Milk, tomato, infuse, once per day. One play before touch.
I'll confess, given what had been shared so far, I just figured the potato called everybody Dad
The room name says its a cave. The room description says its a cave. The potato says,
||"I don't want to play here, I want to play in a cave."||
Yeah, the potato is specifically looking for terrain and climate conditions (currently). There are other conditions he can ask for, but I have those off right now, as they can be quite a bit harder to locate and can be realm/zone specific.
Cave in particular is hard to locate, because underground terrains are hidden from players and room descriptions are misleading about what the terrain is.
i wonder if to a 3rd person, when you play with your potato in a salt/fresh water scenerio if it says So and So tries to drown their potato
anyone have a list of potato rooms in FWI? (so i don't have to travel all the way back to landing)?
check the pins
yea those seem to be mostly around landing

It will be going on the wiki once I have some time with a link in game.
well, much to my dismay, it didnt say "tries to drown"
Gutstorm submerges his potato, which looks around excitedly! After a moment, he picks it back up and the potato whispers something to him.
i got the message that i finished bonding with my potato..but it still looks "rough"?
share the LOOK messaging? you may have just finished a step and need to move to the next step
The potato appears to be alive, having two eyes and a mouth on its bumpy little body. Its skin taking on a russet hue and it appears it was last fed some fragrant cothinar flower. The potato looks full of energy and overjoyed.
looks like you're ready to PET it and get your 500 exp added to your head, which will reset the infuse process back to 0/10
you might want to check the first post in this thread - click the PINS and look for Wyrom's original post - and scroll through it to see all the verbs you could use to change appearance if you're looking for that
if you go back to the Dryad and pray again after you completed the potato, you can get the "budding sentient potato" appearance
Oh, cool!
You lift a knobby sentient potato from your shoulder.
>pray potato
Holding a knobby sentient potato toward a sovereign weeping willow tree, you whisper a prayer to the Wildwood before you. A sudden breeze swirls through the area as a leaf-enswathed dryad forms from the foliage. She steps forward and places a hand on The potato, smiling at it and nods. The dryad whispers a foreign phrase and the potato starts budding. A whirlwind of leaves engulf the dryad, and in a moment, she vanishes.
>glance
You glance down to see a budding sentient potato in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.```
๐ ๐ ๐
^
does it go beyond budding if you go back and do it again?
Mine hasnt gone past budding yet
How much exp is the orb worth? Iโm 6 infuses in and realizing I may not have the resolve needed to do this ๐
The orb is worth about 43k or a couple of years of looking after Quee. You could be ahead in 55 weeks in Shattered, but you could still be behind after many years of looking after it if you aren't killing yourself to get through each cycle as fast as possible and aren't taking its award in an efficient way. Orb experience is an almost guaranteed extra (you only lose out if a GM rpa happens while the orb is running), while Quee experience will often displace exp that you would have got from hunting etc. otherwise.
At your infusion rate, you are looking at decades rather than years to get more from Quee than spudicide.
I've been awarded 2k so far and am probably less than 1k ahead of where I would have been without it, because its awards mostly just displace exp I would have got from hunting.
One concern about spudicide - what if the infuse rewards change or improve?
You'll be left with a second round of ||eater's remorse||.
Thank you for your honesty about my lack of diligence, ๐
At what point in the development process is spudicide no longer an option?
Pretty sure you can choose to be horrible whenever you want
You could consider using a script to make potato-care easier on you ๐
Like daycare, ;spudcare
Mhmm, just hire a potatositter. Pretty sure it's in the SERVICE list.

I still know it's you from the Avatar. ๐
test 2
Poor fella's got Dendum's Disease.
im not gonna let it ruin my day
There's supposed to be an option to take it as instant coming, which will substantially improve it for most people. I reckon it will be 2-3x as valuable for me, but I'm still looking at about 2 years before I've had more than an orb's worth. Its supposed to be mostly its own reward though, so if you stop enjoying having a pet potato, its time to eat it.
I would add that the 15 hour infuse timer has greatly improved things since it's now feasible to do it first thing in the morning and then get the next one before bed at night, so it doesn't become a 10-day wait. That being said, I'm still tracking the cooldown manually which I probably don't want to do for the next decade...so I'll probably end up just letting it be a 10 day thing instead of trying to get closer to the optimal 6.25 days.
If I could change it, I would make it like an 8-infuse-to-full thing with a resets-at-midnight timer so there's no need to keep track of that 15 hour cooldown.
The rest of the stuff - play/feed/drink - it's quite easy to get to overjoyed well before you hit 10 infuses, especially now that I have it scripted - so that's all fine imo
Just as a heads up about the potato. I will be doing another round of some minor bug fixes before December rolls in. I should be able to squeeze in the exp change then. I don't really want to change the timers any further on this because feeding/watering/playing were all balanced around 10 days. When we changed that timer to 15 hours per INFUSE, it now has hit situations where people need to do slightly more than the minimum to get 500 exp. I don't want it to become more of a chore than what some have already said. The idea behind this item is a nod to Fantasy University (another retired Simutronics game) and something that people who got at release could really use for years to come. And if you enjoy the aesthetic of it all, even better. I know having a talking potato on your shoulder doesn't really hit the mark for a lot of people. Most my characters wouldn't use it like that. I wanted it to be more of a companion vs just a mindless pet that follows you around.
Some updates to come though.
- A wiki page that is in ANALYZE.
- Custom messaging for what the potato can say.
- Accessories for Quee (late 2024).
- Ease up on some of the easter eggs that are undiscovered.
- Make a decision on adding more play zones.
Quee will go on sale in December one last time at Delirium Manor and then will be retired for the foreseeable future. So if you want a second one or maybe you want some for alts, it would be the last time to do that.
One thing I like to code on my more complicated items that are in your inventory is INSPECT will give you the LOOK/SHOW from afar. Not sure if people INSPECT others' stuff often, but I noticed this trend has died down over the years. In my earlier days of GMing, I would get screenscrolled with players INSPECTing my stuff.
I always forget about INSPECT'ing other people's things, until I remember... and then promptly forget again. Would love to see more of this come back into the game!
wait wait wait.. question...
I understand for alts, but can the same character have two Quees?
Sure, but you can only wear one.
We only have one Quee hole

but would you be able to independently care for (and absorb exp) from both?
Yes.
Your first might get jealous and murder the second in your sleep though. No guarantees.
I don't know how cost effective it all is on the exp front, I'm sure someone has done the math though.
If they havent, they are now
#ebon-gate message
A potato will cost you roughly 71,428,571 silver for 500 exp every five days (therefore, on average, 100 exp per day), assuming you can infuse twice a day.
Measured in event boxes at the current Ebon Gate rate (if it carries over to next RoL), this same amount of silver would buy you ~23.81 RoL event boxes, worth 309.5 entries. Assuming that someone's already at an 11x/day brooch, every 10 entries represent 11 exp per day (1 exp per rub with 11 rubs), so the end result here is ~340.48 exp per day.
The waters do get slightly muddier if we start accounting for the need to concurrently upgrade Planar after a certain point, but not muddier enough to make up that large a difference in scale.```
...**however**, this was obviously done before the State of Elanthia and news about event boxes becoming attuned, not to mention RoL not even being a standalone event anymore. (And therefore potentially not having event boxes?)
So I suppose the better comparison now is to buying people's exp orbs while supplies last. Even without going super hard into math, you could probably pick up 9.5 or so indigo orbs for 71.4m, which represents 207,812.5 exp and therefore would only be exceeded by a potato after 2078 days at two infusions per day.
I do still inspect people's stuff sometimes but it's more for RP and not expecting an actual unique response. Nice work on the EE so to speak.
This is the Leafiara content I live for! ๐
Iโd love a reset at midnight for the infuse timer. I think it would relieve some of the stress and hassle to remember when you last infused.
I just do it when I remember. It's not worth stressing over
Amateur Quee questionโฆwhy would it cost 71m silver?
Average cost to acquire enough general tickets to buy one.
Ah, got it. Thought you were referring to the one we all got for free. Thanks for the clarification!
If people are buying potatoes for 71m silver, I've got a couple for sale at half price
The free ones are bound
that would be a huge step backwards
- Accessories for Quee (late 2024).
I want to see a sentient potato wearing a yam costume.
๐
This has nearly driven me to eat Quee already, and I hate the constant build in temptation to kill myself to be in game at times when its harmful for me.
I just realized we coulda been using the term "Queestion" all this time
This changes everything!
Someone help Gutstorm get to the funboard! I did my part!
Now, on another note, I have a Queestion! is it correct to say that ||overjoyed|| automatically means the pinnacle ||for 500 exp absorbed||? Or do I still do need to potentially do more? I'm so paranoid about ||not getting 500 every time, and permanently screwing up the "Quee has awarded you X experience..." line with some uneven number that the first time I spent an extra 10 days of feeding JUST IN CASE.|| ๐คฃ
my assumption (don't take as gospel) is that:
||long faced : 0-124
indifferent: 125-249
content: 250-374
happy: 375-499
overjoyed: 500||
||I can confirm the overjoyed portion, ive yet to achieve anything less then perfection||
Alright, will put it to the test on Saturday. ๐ฎ
These potatos arnt very obedient. I remember when I was a kid growing up, I was told when I was going to eat. I think im raising a millenial
I typically achieve overjoyed at like 7 infuses (without trying very hard) and then don't do anything after that and have always gotten 500
||Just want to say those of you Potato lovers.. There is a Potato Cameo in The Santa Clauses Season2 Episode 4!||
Iโve been feeding my potato on and off for close to a month now. Is it safe to assume there is a penalty for infrequent feedings?
you may be feeding it something it doesn't like! what are you feeding it and what does it LOOK like?
Iโve just been feeding it random leftover herbs, still famished.
I recommend picking something nutritious and feeding it that consistently. Wild carrots have worked well for me but there are plenty of options.
Ok thanks!
No wonder your potato aint happy with you, Id hate left overs too! ๐
I believe there is no penalty for letting it sit longer than the timer - but as others have said there is a HUGE difference in "nutritiousness" of things you can feed it.
That makes sense, but I wasnโt aware the magnitude of the difference
Iโve found success with ||strawberries and tomatoes|| and just stuck with it.
I've been feeding mine potato soup. I'll continue until morale improves
I found wild carrots to be clearly better than stalks of celery but that's all I've tried!
Ive only fed mine purple potatos
Beans, beans, they're good for your ... potato.
You show a fingerling sentient potato topped with some chives your unsalted butter. My tater's gittin nerbous. ๐ฉโ๐พ
Anyone have a room for barren terrain?
I think there's some on the way to the Colossus. Thats where I'd look first and I'm pretty sure I've found some to play with there. You can use virilneus maps to search for terrains if you are stuck on finding something in game.
There's a list of places in the pins, around the Landing side.
potato.lic can also help with this - either by doing the task for you or telling you which room to take it to (you can turn off auto-bury) - the bury part won't be helpful if you're in the East though
Request: Is it possible to update potatoes so they can wear a mask made from the molds of clay, please?
Do you have a mask registered? I'll take a peek.
Yup!
Nice script, thanks! I edited for Solhaven-suitable locations, but that was quick and easy with a good base to work from. ๐
That mask should work, what does it say?
The doll-sized mask doesn't seem to be able to work with your sentient potato.\
Duh my bad. Thank you!

all potatos check in properly except for 2, and when I swap them with those two they still dont work

which of the doll accessories work with my little guy? are there categories that do/dont? already wasted most of my tickets on something I didnt realize wouldnt work and dont want to buy something wrong again
Worn items work, just not the eyes, noses, handhelds and stuff like that. The syntax is DRESS POTATO.
of course I bought the eyes to match mine first. derp.
thanks for the feedback sir.
dressing is permanent?
You can't remove a piece once adding but you might be able to overwrite something? Has anyone else tried to add multiple pieces to the same potato slot?
You can remove and it'll be destroyed then add something new.

Tsalinx plays a knobby sentient potato blossoming a wild carrot to his ear.
Think these verbs are intentional or a bug?
i think the enviroment type determines how you play with it, (submerge, bury, play etc)
so wet/saltwater/freshwater should give you the submerge, and so on and so forth
Potatoes should learn about Pennant chase - an option to have them switch out the strongest critter kill with "highest pennants in a single round"
I do like that idea.
we need a spud gun. not to shoot our spuds, but to arm them. like shoulder mounted artillery.
Go on.
Time to fuse your hidden vambrace script and Quee script together!
or a spud shimmer trinket, so you can have a small version of you on your shoulder acting like your tater conscience.

Just PETted my potato for the first time...it's telling me now it's going to want to play later. Does it always want to play? I thought things simplified at some point?
And...does anyone have a list of EN locations for the various play spots?
It always wants to play, but you don't have to. You have to do some stuff if you want to get your weekly experience out of it.
||10 Infusions are required.
Feeding the right stuff is the most efficient way to get exp.
Drinking and playing contribute.
Going hunting with it also contributes.

my understanding is that acantha is actually one of the worst things you can feed it
That is correct, but it also goes to show how easy it is to upkeep them for max rewards.
I pretty consistently hit overjoyed by the third day after a drain
same - yeah upkeep is much easier than growth
I'm a horrible potato owner I guess. I give it kumys and absinthe for the bright green and milky white coloring. It's alit with balefire. I feed it acantha, other excess herbs, or dates from my backyard when I'm out of herbs. ๐ซค
I wish I would have gotten a screen shot. Iโm sure it was just coincidenceโฆ I normally donโt fight swarms. every time my tater starter singing a battle chant, I can't help but think its one of the Final Fantasy combat themes
The Quee(n) battle chant has to be: Another One Bites the Dust.
I keep waiting for my spud to turn evil. He's had quite the rift salad since birth.
you want him to start draining exp?!
GS3 potato
wave my potato at rolton
Black tendrils swirl out from your evil potato towards a rolton. They circle in and then vanish inside it. The rolton has been blighted!
Ooo new "add in" to the blood magic storyline! The sentient potatoes are slowly corrupted, and the only hope they have is their new "best potato dads and moms a quee could ask for!" This slowly works up to them being the first playable vegetable race, bringing in Savants and the bard/sorcerer/palaidn updates! LONG LIVE THE QUEE!!!!!!!
I trust Ida (my tater) only til she grabs a knife or casts a spell! At dat point, hash browns.
What do you call a reluctant potato? A hesi-tater
Psst...if'n ye wanna gits dis... " Its skin taking on a dirty brown hue" den da recent "smoky glass mug painted with cavorting roltons and skunks" issa yer Tater's drink o' choice! but fer goodness sakes..DONT drink it yer own self! ๐ตโ๐ซ
Thatโs my drink!
Be sure to READ it too!
||Can you find all the play locations in every town or should I expect to travel? I'm trying to find a moist place in teras and that seems a bit tough. Thx||
||You might have to travel. No moist places on Teras unless its in a new area.||
||Ok thx much! I ended up finding a location in the abadoned mines with the kiramon!||
I really should do something with this infused potato
I should have said none above ground. Rangers cant sense terrain below ground. It would be a very long project to map the underground using potato play.
Ah interesting ok thx! I figured something was up with those areas bc I didn't see info on them on Virilneus' site.
There are some that are specific to underground, e.g. in a cave, but it seems that a lot of the above ground ones are also underground, there's just no way I know other than checking with a potato to tell where they are.
Forage sense can supply some clues.
I've only ever seen my 2 potatos say this...Your sentient potato boasts, "My dad slayed a greater water elemental once! I was wondering if they pull from a list of things you've killed. Granted I haven't killed many different critters...just what is in nelemar. Just noticed a bug...the quote is missing the second quotation mark (").
They can only pull your strongest foe and proudest foe in your profile settings. (Those can be different!)
Ah interesting. Ok thanks Leafiara! (didn't know about the proudest foe in the profile)
Potato mech, online. Now when you don't play with them, they can...encourage you.
Just wandering around loose. Potato and golem.
I really need to finish my potato =\ you have to
||do all the watering and feeding within a week timeframe? after bringing it to life at the tree?||
||there's no time limit afaik. just need to do it X amount based on what you're watering/feeding it||
I know why da Quees show'd up! Folks'll need em to start work on "starch golems".
I think we should get titles when hitting certain xp thresholds.. like "Tater Mommy/Daddy"
I'm not expecting anything but somewhat hopefully anticipating something when I hit 10k soon!
Imma poke soooo much fun at da ferst official "Tater Daddy"! ๐
Anyone got a saltwater potato location in EN?
Fethayl bog is salty.
You hold a simple potato to your mouth as if you're going to eat it, but the potato screams, "Queeeeee!"```
am I screwed? I just want to eat it for the orb
I think to get the orb now youโd have to EXTRACT it.
I have an odd request for the potato
Can we please make this where the potato can hold them or something to go along with Rovvi's rp as Elder Seer
The creator has also provided the following information:
This is a doll accessory from Delirium Manor! To use, hold an accessory in your right hand, a (glued/cored) doll in your left hand, and PUSH <accessory>. Once an accessory is placed on your doll, it can be overwritten with another item of the same accessory type, but not removed. Only one item is allowed for each area. This item's type is: RIGHT HAND
This cards will appear in the righthand area on your doll. To change it to lefthand, use TURN <cards>.
REGISTER your accessory items individually, as they will not register with the doll.
This painted tarot cards cannot be altered or used as alter fodder.
When placed on a doll, it will look like: a pair of painted tarot cards
You get no sense of whether or not the cards may be further lightened.```
Potatoes don't have hands, so likely not going to happen.
But Taters would make great Seers! (lotta eyes ๐ )
Can we has putting doll eyes on them?
it cant even wear the scroll case i have for the dolls, so limited
try a ferroniere?
Holding a knobby sentient potato connected to a wild carrot overhead, you infuse your spirit into it. You feel drained.
The potato fully recovers.
>
>pet my potato
You pet your potato and it whispers, "You're the best potato dad a Quee could ask for." The potato glows for a moment and infuses its spirit into you. It looks drained.
[You were awarded 500 experience.]
>l my potato
The potato appears to be alive, having two eyes and a mouth on its bumpy little body. Its skin taking on an amber hue and it appears it was last fed a wild carrot. The potato is completely drained of energy and looks wiped-out. It looks parched. It looks bored. Quee has awarded you 10,000 experience over the course of your friendship. Blue fire radiates from the potato.```
nothing new to report, yet
Blue fire?
Fire spirit cast at the potato.
Neat
You can do that at any stage without crisping it?
Unsure on that end, but once theyโre sentient you can light em on fire and leave em that way. (Couple different fire styles depending on which spell one uses)
Use that to help jump start your golem in August ๐
Man, this number makes me feel that I've been super lazy about not going for two infuses in a day when I can. ๐
what if each time you drain the potato, you kill it a little, and the person who has the least experience taken from the potato will actually be the real winner because that potato will be the healthiest of all!
The potato appears to be alive, having two eyes and a mouth on its bumpy little body. Its skin taking on a deep violet hue and it appears it was last fed a juicy plum. The potato looks full of energy and content. It looks parched. It looks famished. It looks bored. Quee has awarded you 1,000 experience over the course of your friendship. I win
I wonder if you can get 1 exp by giving it just one drink and then leaving it in a locker in between infuses.
I see dat sumpbody aint eber "lost" a tater inna da pantry. Anna Why Rom says dey dont grow legs! ๐
So I still have my potato in its base state. Are these things worth it? I have to admit that they are the kind of silly that I don't really enjoy, plus a lot of little steps to undertake to get them going, so I've been really thinking about just taking the violet orb.
If you don't enjoy it for fluff value, the only thing left is exp. After 860 days, it beats the violet orb, but until then, it loses.
(...maybe sooner than 860 days if you go super hard like Tsalinx and sneak in two infuses a day fairly often, but I'm assuming one a day. ๐)
I guess there's also the possibility that Wyrom's not joking about some kind of potato-and-golem interaction to consider, in case you're making one of those!
I was kind of considering making a golem since I find them a more interesting idea than the potato, but if I did it would only be off donated parts.
I...would really hope that's a joke. I would like to just feel like I can make a decision without feeling like I have to hang on to this forever "just in case." -.-
like a Golem with shoulder mounted potato gun turrets?
potato.lic can take a lot of the work off your hands - you just have to remember to run it
I'm at 11k, just manually remembering times.. and I wasn't hitting every possible infuse.. was intentionally timing it to only drain it at the start of my lumnis.. until the 2x scroll, when I started going for ASAP drains.. if I had been doing them ASAP from the start, I'd be at around 12.5k by now
..and I was always thinking the potatos could pilot the golems as a mecha
I have entire lockers full of stuff I hang on to just in case lol
I forgot our potatoes do this when we die lol. This brought a smile to my face this morning even though I was dead ๐
Your sentient potato cries and squeaks, "Won't someone help my dad?"
Ranks up there with the Mecha Parrots on death messaging
Give it a try with potato.lic, and if you still want a refund after a month, you can still get the orb
I've been slowly working at my potato... but today I can't seem to find it. I've looked every where
crud I found it in my logs, looks like I accidently threw it away after I infused it. I meant to put the drink in the woodstove and must of been too tired... ouch
back on 2-21... ouch:
>get pilsner

Intense verdant light bursts from Quanta's driftwood rune staff.
>look pot
The potato appears to be alive. Its small face looks around with a blank expression. It looks dehydrated.
>listen my potat
You hold a sentient potato to your ear and hear the faint whisper, "...parched..."
Roundtime: 2 sec.
>pour my pil on my potat
You hold a glass of Penguin Pilsner to your potato's little face and it whispers, "I'll want more soon."
>pour my pil on my potat
You hold a glass of Penguin Pilsner to your potato's little face and it whispers, "I'll want more soon."
>put potat in wood
As you place a sentient potato into a small tiled woodstove you feel pleased with yourself at having cleaned up the surrounding area.
I meant to put the Pilsner in the trash
Had it marked too. I typically have that setting on to prevent me from tossing stuff but probably disabled it to toss something out at time time. Doh
I checked my logs and canโt find where it if I registered it ๐ฆ I think I might be outside the window for recover lost
Itโs not looking like I registered it searching the logs. It was just listed as marked though. Surprised I didnโt get a warning about putting it in the trash for the first attempt since it was marked
Oh, 2/21. Toss in an assist and we'll see if we can find it.
awesome thank you! I put one in. I have no idea how I got so confused that I tossed it in the trash instead of the pilsner in my hand.
I must be losing it. ๐คฃ
looks like a no go on the potato since I didn't have it registered ๐ฆ my fault but sucks now I won't be able to use it with the mech
Seems like theyโll create a way for people to buy a replacement potato. Wouldnโt be fair to new players to see others rolling around with potato robots and not be able to participate

Quee will go on sale in December [2023] one last time at Delirium Manor and then will be retired for the foreseeable future. So if you want a second one or maybe you want some for alts, it would be the last time to do that.
Unfortunately I vowed to never again run DM after I donated a few hundred dollars for nothing at the end. Even though itโs ultimately silvers.
Iโve never had anything restored before so a little disappointed. I know I didnโt register which is typically something I would do. But completely had a lapse on this one in more than one way.
Also to note. It was a marked item and went into the trash right away. I didnโt think that was typical behavior for marked items no matter what.
Registered items have a confirmation but marked items depend on what flags you have turned on
The new TRASH verb wouldn't have saved you here, either
Would be interesting to allow us to sell our Quees to each other
Quee life seems so lovely.
how much were they at that event? Is that similar to DR?
They were 100k general tickets at the last run I see pricing on (last EG)
Similar to the sewer search, but a much lower payout on tickets. Also it was only open for a very short period of time (couple days at best if memory serves) vs several weeks of being able to build your scrip piles up.
100k general tickets i assume is the event specific currency? I'm trying to get a rough idea of silvers I would need to have available in the event the little guys ever show up again
Yep. 100k general tickets; entries were 100k silvers per run, (I only ran a couple in the Naidem run, but tickets collected per run was fairly low compared to pay events like DR, EG, or RW)โฆ Iโd guess somewhere closer to 1000 runs to earn enough scrip for a tater.
I am now mashing my potato dreams. Thanks for answers Trallihn!
[Congratulations you have fully bonded with your potato! You have now unlocked all the features!] Yay! It only took 6 months!
What did you name the little fella?
Hashbrowns. Oh wait, that's mine.
Gratin
Lol
Mine's named Ida ๐
Spudhammer
Vodka Junior
Im a bad parent, I forgot the name of mine, and I knew it once
heyyyy, kiddo!
I had to write the names of my pets down now I forgot the. NAmes and lost the list! Is in my lockers somewhere.
I didnโt realize this was a thing. Did you have to do anything special, or just feed and play?
Just keep at it!
I got my quee a spider costume and used BREAK to change appearance. Now it's just "a sentient potato." How do I get the costume to show? (Already tried ROLL - it does nothing.)
APPROVE is the verbiage for that. BREAK resets the nutrition levels, which will nuke everything.
ATTEND is also needed to change the description.
I'll mail you a replacement
I can't tell which character it is. Please ASSIST on the character with the potato and we'll make sure it's working again.
Thanks, Wyrom. I used ATTEND and see that it toggles between what my potato just ate and the costume. Still can't see the costume upon peering into a mirror.
Potato looks right, now! Thanks again for all the help!
An oblong sentient potato wearing a wire-legged gangly sable spider costume is settled on her shoulder.
If someone wants to spruce up the Quee Potato wiki page so that it's mostly complete and then I can go in and correct information or offer more information on it, let me know. It's on a todo list of mine, but item documentation gets bumped down fairly often since it's the lowest priority task. Just reach out if it's something you want to tackle.
I dont know if this was intended but ```XXXXXXXX's sentient potato whistles a jaunty little ditty!

You look closely at XXXXXXXX, examining a knobby sentient potato blossoming a fuzzy peach. The potato appears to be alive, having two eyes and a mouth on its bumpy little body. Its skin taking on a sanguine hue and it appears it was last fed a fuzzy peach. The potato has been infused eight times and looks happy. It looks parched. It looks famished. It looks bored.```` I clicked on her potato and it told me a buncha stuff lol
You are supposed to be able to see detail of things that people wear, if they let you get close enough.
For a lot of things like this, I typically code a custom inspect that others can view too. Most my stuff has it.
I took full advantage to inform player XXXXXXXX last night that her potato looked bored ๐
You place a half-eaten sentient potato wearing a jam-stained tattered paeladri goat costume on your shoulder, which somehow stays put.
Cracked your teeth on the orb when you tried to eat it?
lol
these need to be released in some fashion again.. i need one on every guy lol
Yer a monster! ๐คช
You give your potato a little hug. It smiles and chirps, "Thank you for taking excellent care of me! Someone else would have eaten me for my heart!" (a monster would!)
Whoo! 20k exp!
slacker
Just... just ignore my unfinished potatoe that's been sitting in my cloak this entire time. Just sitting there next to my engine-less chassis.
I wonder if you have more then 1 potato, if they would ever sing in chorus together, giving you like a short duration attack buff ๐ฎ
"My dad is awesome!"
"No, my dad is awesomer!"
a fight ensues, resulting in potato salad being flung around
Crash the game in crowded rooms looking for all the shoulder potatoes lol
I did wonder if it was a locker potato that got the vaults shut down.
Imma sooo gonna work da phrase "shoulder 'tater" into conbersayshuns!
Not sure if this has been mentioned but when I was on my tortoise mount, my potato did this
Your sentient potato bounces on your shoulder!
they ride to live, and live to ride!
if you have an untouched potato.. can you still grow it or whatever to turn it into a companion? or is your only choice now to take the rpa orb?
AFAIK there's no expiry on them. I came across someone progressing theirs just a couple of weeks ago.
Oh ok I thought the Dryad was an NPC from a festival or something and it was a required step in the process (he does something to the potato?) Idk, ive read the wiki on it and I'm still a little confused about what all you get from the potato besides a pet in the end..
if you treat it nicely, you get exp from it.
these really need to be released again.. i want one for my other guy
The festival was ages ago but the grounds remain accessible. There just hasn't been much reason other than potatoes to go in them since.
oh that makes sense then! Tyvm!
if you get tired of him before he attunes.. ill buy the little guy lol ๐
They were for sale at Delirium Manor for 100k tickets last time it appeared
aka 100mil.. or am i mathing wrong?
well i think i spent 75 million silver farming them myself to get 100k tickets
If I recall though, they attune on purchase, so bare that in mind
Yeah, I think the only unattuned one(s?) came via a mania prize.
Gryzz is too rich... Tater Daddy!
id happily pay that.. 75mil is alot easier to get up then you think lol
hey worm, you happen to be lurkin around?
Best to tag me, I haven't frequented Discord, had some stuff going on in July, so I was sticking to a lot of behind the scenes work.
I know we have the Discord rules that you can't tag. But if there is ever an issue, you can tag me to point to it on systems that are for sure something I'm working on.
it wasnโt necessarily an โissueโ, just a question if queeโs are transferable in the โsimple potatoโ stage, or are they already character/account bound?
They're attuned from the get go. We sold some that attuned on purchase as well.
๐ข
@dusky flax It appears that transferring a potato-bonded character between accounts causes an issue.
The potato appears to be alive, having two eyes and a mouth on its bumpy little body. Its skin taking on a chocolate brown hue and it appears it was last fed a pink peppercorn. The potato has been infused four times and looks indifferent. It looks parched. It looks famished. It looks bored. Quee has awarded you 500 experience over the course of your friendship.
feed potato
A fingerling sentient potato capped with a pink peppercorn squints angrily and whispers, "You're not my real mom!"
Yeah, that is intentional with account bound items.
Swampman paradox exists in elanthia!
I thought the potato was character bound.
Ah, account bound. Handed it to a char still on the account and they were able to interact.
I also thought they were character bound. Was that only the golems?
Ok, potato question... I did APPROVE on my potato to set a look on it, then changed my mind and did BREAK... Will it eventually go back to showing what I'm feeding it for its tap description? Right now when I ROLL it, I get this: You roll your potato around. It looks at you and whispers, "Having fun?"
It should be an instant toggle...I thought
Nope. I fed it a new item and it didn't show up attached to the potato. And roll still isn't working.
l my potato
The potato appears to be alive, having two eyes and a mouth on its bumpy little body. Its skin taking on a chocolate brown hue and it appears it was last fed a vanilla bean. The potato has been infused five times and looks content. It looks parched. Quee has awarded you 500 experience over the course of your friendship.
glan
You glance down to see a sentient potato in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
Approve is a number of settings that rotate, so you have to cycle through them.
wait, "just spam it, maybe something different will happen" is the viable option here?
STUPID THING WHY WON'T YOU DO WHAT I WA oh there it goes
Instructions unclear, potato now wearing a strange cube of meat-like emulsion
But what exactly does BREAK break? It returned my potato to 'a sentient potato' but now when I feed it, nothing shows up. Been feeding it vanilla beans and they still aren't part of its tap. It just stays a plain 'sentient potato' with nothing attached to it. Before I used BREAK, it had 'capped with handful of snowberries' but when I started feeding it vanilla beans instead, nothing changed. So I tried BREAK, thinking I'd gotten it stuck on snowberries. I want my potato to have a vanilla bean on top! If I had just kept feeding it vanilla beans without using BREAK, would the vanilla bean have eventually replaced the snowberries? I have other potatoes I used APPROVE on and now want to change the plant they have on top. How does it work?
BREAK resets your nutrition levels. There are 3 nutrition buckets, potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen. There is also a 4th "not good herbs" bucket. When you feed Quee, it will only go into one bucket. This also determines what Quee might look like.
APPROVE changes which description is shown, you can APPROVE and not lose anything.
There is messaging for both of these to describe what's happening.
Are potatos not attuned until your first infuse? Analyze and recall dont mention any attunement.
@severe sail, I think Wyrom's mixing up APPROVE with ATTEND, actually. APPROVE locks in/adjusts whether and how you can change the description (so make sure you don't have it locked), and ATTEND cycles through the looks.
[You set your potato to not change descriptions.]
>approve potato
[You set your potato to only change the base descriptions.]
>approve potato
[You set your potato to change the base and long descriptions.]
>attend potato
[You set your potato to show what it last was fed in the long description.]
>glance
You glance down to see a knobby sentient potato blossoming a wild carrot in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
>attend potato
[You set your potato to show what its wearing in the long description.]
>glance
You glance down to see a knobby sentient potato wearing a coppery stag beetle costume with oversized mandibles in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.```
@fringe coyote Thank you so much!! I now have a fingerling sentient potato capped with a vanilla bean.
I am suggesting another APPROVE option! Currently there are:
[You set your potato to not change descriptions.]
[You set your potato to only change the base descriptions.]
[You set your potato to change the base and long descriptions.]
I would like to request that this be added:
[You set your potato to only change the long descriptions.]
I have my potato's shape where I want it but I had to feed it something I don't want in its long description to get that. When I go back to feeding it the item I want to have showing in the long description, its shape is going to change back. Le sigh. Of course, I have no idea how difficult or simple that would be to add to the coding, so if it never happens, oh well.
I feel like that is a way already, I'll have to dig into it.
I love the idea of the golem integrating with the Quee. I would love it even more if integrating Quee with other systems increased the amount of experience earned after petting!
it's giving me robotech vibes, Im hoping my potato can push a button once he is inside the golem and it transforms into an attack drone of some kind
im gonna have to get my Quee some dark tinted sunglasses and an leather aviator jacket now
we need to come up with the 2 million bloodscrip obvious missile attachment for the golem
or a customized pie-launcher
when is a cave not a cave?
When a potato wants to play in it.
[The Caviest of caves, not potato friendly]
"Not here! I want to play in a cave!"
You are in a cave. Its a cave. Yes, really a cavey cave. Unless you are a potato.
just carry a ranger around with you
"hm.. yep. This is a cave"
Rangers can't tell what the terrain is in a cave. Only potatoes can do that.
Kind of makes you wonder why we even keep rangers around if their primary function (cave detection) can be done to a higher standard by potatoes.
The cave seems far from the bustle of town, offering a pristine spot to sit a moment and ponder.
And the question to ponder is, "Why won't a potato play here?"
I flipped through the options multiple times before posting so if the option to change the last item it was fed part of the description WITHOUT changing the base (fingerling, oblong, knobby, waxy, whatever else there might be) exists, it seems disabled. I really want my potato to be fingerling but with a berry on it and berries seem to plump them up to knobby. I was able to get it to fingerling by feeding it peppercorns but then it had a peppercorn on top instead of a berry. Oh well.. at the moment I have oblong with my berry.
Potato wants to play in "sand". Duskruin arena is literally the dueling "sands". Potato says no, literally ruining my immersion ๐
Keep talking your next cycle it will want to play in a sandy cave
the potato is very picky and demanding
Like they refuse to play at a sandy seaside because its not a beach.
I thought we were just supposed to bug rooms for potato play
Were we?
I do on occasion, but likely they go in the vertical file with the rest of my bug reports.
It's complicated. We can't just go in and change climate or terrain in existing areas without taking into consideration a bunch of stuff
I have a bug report I did twice for the Seer laying down in the Osas structure that was done a month ago. I'm sure they'll get to it eventually. Dunno why an NPC is lying down on the job ๐
I haven't bugged anywhere instanced like the sands. I have definitely bugged the Monsoon Jungle and Cloud Forest on FWI and still hope that gets approved.
Wait I go there to bury mine
So you're saying my bugs were read?! ๐ฅ heaven

so the golem is for the potato to ride on? i havent even started on my potato.. we can buy more potatos? do they all turn into 4x RPA orbs?
The golem is a pet. The fact that Quee can ride on it is a bonus, but they're not required for each other
Only 100k bloodscrip if you want a potato-to-turn-into-an-orb!
such deal.. wow
Yea, that interaction should come with a title if you buy a potato to just turn it to a 4x orb. Mark these players with a title.

So, if I eat my potato that's rotting in my locker, I'll get an exp orb? I had no idea. lol

did it not work on round 1-8?
I was feeding/watering/infusing for the first rounds, didn't get around to burying it until the 9th round.
What and how do you feed and water it ?
feed it vegetables, water it with.. whatever really, i raised mine with orange tea
It wants what plants crave
I keep saying it because it's a hint!
I'm not convinced there is a Brawndo merchant in the lands.
But it has what plants crave
is the potato worth buying for 100k?
There is no objective answer to that question. It has benefits, both RP and exp-wise, but requires upkeep. Everyone has a different tolerance for that.
fair enough
It's probably fair to say that it's not worth buying for 100k bloodscrip if you intend to eat it for the violet orb...
SOME of us are dilligent potato mommies and are already halfway to earning back the value of the orb
I'm raising my potatoes on hot chocolate
Do I pour the beverage on it? Nothing I'm trying appears to work
Perhaps sprinkle it with chives?
It should work. It needs to be in your hands, and you need to be at the drinking step. You may need to do something else first if this isn't working.

Okay I am beyond frustrated with trying to find costumes for potatos and when you finally do we were told they can be altered by 2 or 3 gms regardless of what the item said then when you take it to a merchant you cant.
First DM clothing we were told works on potatos then we were told other costumes work. This is correct half the time but not always with the items we were told works.
Tried to get something done twice now when I see everyone else running around with Potatos with altered clothing on them, why?
I know its a little item and might not be concerning to some but when we were told one thing then the opposite happens I tend to get frustrated
The analyze is a bit weird; at the top it says largely free from merchant alteration restrictions. But towards the bottom, it says it cannot be altered in anyway. I donโt blame any GM because the analyze is restrictive but it does seem like there are some altered costumes out there for the doll/potatoes. Maybe a clarification on the analyze might be in order? Thank you. I can only go by what others have told me because this is actually the first time Iโve been in this channel; but I heard they should be able to be altered. Am I wrong?
My potato told me he was quite sad that he could not use the minute yew composite bow from PSF Small Stuff 2024 ๐
well i tried to use tarot cards from DM and wyrom told me potatos dont have arms to hold things...so that I understood. but then tried to put a scroll case from DM on the potato and that didnt work when it should have
Using that logic, a bow would still go over a potato's shoulder...area

Potatoes can only wear one section of the Delirium costumes. I can look to opening it up to more, but it requires a specific line. ANALYZE is a player tool, not a GM tool, so typically there are specific instructions on alterations. ANALYZE has a line at the top of everything unless you block ANALYZE entirely. Costumes from DM have never been alterable, so I'm unsure who mentioned them being alterable.
GM note:
~ ALTERATIONS ~
DO NOT ALTER THIS ITEM. THIS ITEM IS NOT INTENDED FOR ALTER FODDER.
Player note:
This costume cannot be altered or used as alter fodder.
I realize the top of ANALYZE says this for everything, we probably should change that with scripted items being the norm now.
You analyze the costume and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.
understood. But Id still like to know how some people are running around with Goat costumes and Teddy bear costumes on their potatos when I know those are not sold ots. I was also told any costume that fit the potatos could be altered in anyway so thats where that came from
I'm wondering if they used the clay mold from Delirium Manor that allows you to make a doll outfit from an existing item.
I know the goat costume which was posted way up was altered by a merchant.
A half-eaten sentient potato wearing a jam-stained tattered paeladri goat costume is settled on his shoulder.
the specific costume i had altered was the spider costume from RW
not sure if that matters..
I see - it's a pity if they can't be altered. Who doesn't want a pink princess potato?
also just to note.. i didnt have the costume itself altered, my potato was already wearing it and the merchant altered my potato's long description to the goat costume.. (which i was also warned by said merchant that if i fed it again it might mess it up)
I'd asked about altering a costume early on and was denied it; but the clay mold did make a replica version of my towel that my potato wears
-> a ghastly ghoul costume (in)
-> a pale white rickety skeleton costume (in)
-> a darkly plumed cockatrice costume (in)
-> a tightly bound mummy costume (in)
-> an orange and yellow jack'o'lantern costume (in)
-> a plush brown teddy bear costume (in)
-> a sleek midnight black cat costume (in)
-> an iridescent viridian and pink fairy costume (in)
-> a furry brown grizzly bear costume (in)
Teddy bear was sold at Delirium.
The costumes are using the Whax dolls, so it's nothing I specifically did.
Thanks everyone, Im just going to call it a wrap and stick to the original base of the potato and call it satisfied
And now I want the teddy bear!
Will there be future potato-friendly costume releases? Can we make suggestions if so?
There was a pink fairy costume sold ots!
Oop I was scrolled up, Wyrom mentioned the ots potato costumes. There were two more available this past RW, too
The molds can copy your personal items. Make a (clothing) item you want the tater to wear. Copy it. DRESS yer tater. Tada!

ok, just read new tater/golem phase. how do i add my tater to the golem?
It's not live yet. Working through some major rewrites on the golem based on feedback. Goal is to have some updates live as we have a surprise coming in here in a few days.
Surprise?interesting...
The pudgy teadragon costume doesn't seem to be able to work with your sentient potato.```
These costumes from the Festival are apparently from the Delirium section that does not currently work with a potato.
Or maybe it's because I never finished working on my potato?
DRESS POTATO WITH COSTUME. Different syntax.
I tried that too, but I'll gladly try it again!
Usage:
DRESS {target} WITH {item} - Dress something with an item```
Same outcome when I add a pair of MYs in there.
That's not the right usage, so I'd have to see what's happening.
It should show you Usage: DRESS potato WITH {item} - Dress Quee with an item.
Might be there was a costume on the ground in the room you were trying.
Only thing I can think of.
I'm alone at a table with them in my hands, and I've verified that there isn't a SECOND or OTHER costume or potato in reach.
Your Quee needs to be fully bonded. A quick glance shows it's only at phase 3.
Gotcha. Thanks for looking, and sorry for the bother!
Also good to know that the costumes should work, I'm looking forward to that.
Ok, I can't get this costume to work, he's wearing it, when I try to put another on him it tells me to undress him of the old costume first, but it just shows the carrot I fed him
Attend your potato it will switch to long description of what they are wearing
Ah thanks1
Don't put another on or it'll destroy the other unless you want to replace the one it's wearing already
I know this is discovery thing, but maybe it's time for an analyze now...
Honestly you want all the verbs run ;testme script on it with potato in your right hand
Ah, good idea
The script is too big to add an analyze, so it's been waiting on the golem collaboration.
Script are BIG?
Wow, I didn't know that was a thing!
I have an image of a potato wearing some of the new costumes but don't know if I'm allowed to share here. But they are cute
Giffen a Tater's body shape... a costume kin range frem burlap sack to one to one scale model o' a castle?
To get your potato dressed:
DRESS my potato WITH COSTUME
APPROVE my potato - cycles through if the potato shows the 15/15/15 or the long description
- [You set your potato to not change descriptions.] - this will prevent ATTEND from changing anything. If your potato is not changing descriptions, try APPROVEing it and try again.
- [You set your potato to only change the base descriptions.] - an oblong sentient potato
- [You set your potato to change the base and long descriptions.]
ATTEND my potato - cycles through the fed item and the costume - [You set your potato to show what its **wearing **in the long description.] - an oblong sentient potato wearing a wire-legged gangly sable spider costume
- [You set your potato to show what it last was **fed **in the long description.] - an oblong sentient potato sprouting a bright red teaberry
do I need to spoiler that? I've answered several assists on it
any chance that the Quee costumes could be removable instead of just replaced? too many cute ones to choose from now
We have all been waiting/wanting this as well
yes!
I got a new costume, and know they're relatively cheap but I'm hard pressed to change my quee from it's cat costume from DM since i don't know when if they'll be available again if I want to change off.
I think it helps to better understand the idea of the clothing items for Quee. The idea was these aren't alterable so you would get an alter. They really weren't made for interchangeable clothing options. Think of it like a GM alter that you apply to it. That's coming from the design point. It's just I was trying to create a one-way niche demand. I do realize people want to create outfits though, so I'll mull it over. Right now, the potatoes don't save the creation string of the costume, but I could rebuild it, or be super lazy about it.
But the golem design uses the same logic and design, and I feel pretty strongly that the golems need to stay as is.
but changing your potato's outfit to match yours or for the season is far more important than being able to change fed or forageable items. customization is everything!
So i've been told anyway

@green plover You need to make sure that your potato is APPROVEd to change the long description and then ATTEND it until what is wearing pops up again before the new costume shows up.
Yep, I figured it out last night (and deleted my post right after)
Ah, was going through bug reports
I knew I forgot something last night. My โIGNORE MEโ follow up bug.

It's got blackberries potato!
What an absurd lollipop. Is that one of Casil's from the holiday thing
did someone tinker with the descriptions when listening and playing?
this used to say "bury"
Its a holiday market lollipop. Ravens eat them, but not potatoes.

Is there any possibility of attuning your portato to a different character on your (same) account?
When the potatos came out we didn't know about the golems. Now the golems are (reportedly) going to interact with the potatos. My potato owning character has no love or interest in golems where as my golem owning character (one of them) would LOVE to add the potato (assuming the syngery becomes a thing at some point).
Note: My potato is still in edible form if that makes any difference on attunability.
Also note: I may be misinformed but my current understanding is that the potatos are CHARACTER attuned and not ACCOUNT attuned.
Anyhow... both my potato and golems are waiting on "stuff and things" but hoping I can get them together at some point down the road.
I'll add it to a list. Maybe a one time change option in the potatoes code.

So you know if the analyze says they are alterable or not?
You analyze the sable spider costume and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.
This item's type is: CHEST
REGISTER your accessory items individually, as they will not register with the doll.
This sable spider costume cannot be altered or used as alter fodder.
When placed on a doll, it will look like: a wire-legged gangly sable spider costume
You get no sense of whether or not the costume may be further lightened.```

my tater needs to be looked at, it broke when i moved my guy ๐ฆ
If an item is account bound, and you move accounts, the item will not be re attuned. You will have to move the character back onto the attuned account
Or hand it off to someone on the original account
but since when were they account bound? i thought they were character bound
Pretty sure they were character bound (or announced that way). But I just handed my potato off to another character on my account and it seems to like that character as well.
#general-announcements message
In game shop Purchased ones were also account attuned on purchase
well dang.. in my situation.. the guy cant go back, neither can the tater
Ohhhhh.... so they switch to character attuned once you do something with them!?
Quee was always account attuned. Might be mistaking it for one of the other items given out around that time.
i just has unliving quee forever now? my hearts broked ๐ญ
A Taterpire sounds perty cool to me
Interesting, I always assumed the original potato was account-bound, but once you literally infused your soul into it, I though that made it character-bound. Thematically, that makes sense to me, at least.
It was from a time when GIFTBOX only did account attuned special items. I know GIFTBOX and now CLAIM probably seem like a staple to today's gameplay, but it was dormant from 2003 until 2018 outside a few single uses. And then didn't ramp up until the lockdowns.
I don't really follow but I'm happy with my potato so no complaints here!
Just a 22 year old system that was dormant for 15 years. It had some pretty big system limitations originally. Quee was built under that limitation!
so this tater is broke for good?
Transfer it back to the original account?
not an option...
Interesting - I would've never guessed that the distribution method (GIFTBOX) was tied to the item's properties (account-bound) in such a critical way. Such is life with old systems, I suppose!
Oh, that's everything. Like vaults are character attunement on the items. There is no flip flop it. When you BREAK the special item, that just uses a different distribution of making it account attuned. We could build things that let a player set which version to take in cases where we don't mind if it's either or. But Quee only has account checks throughout. It wouldn't work as a character attunement. Quee's code is too big to really go through it easily to let it flip flop. As a point of reference Quee is bigger than all of Duskruin Arena in code.
Item scripts tend to be big though if they have a lot they can do. It's usually messaging that really gets things growing in size.
Makes sense. Thanks for the peek behind the curtain.
Thanks for bringing it back to life! The Giftboxes have been a fun add to the game the past few years!

did, i think iโm still waiting for an answer
Oh it was answered here, but we do not switch account attunement around, it defeats the purpose of account attunement. We really can't support it. The only suggestion I really have if your other account is no longer accessable due to giving it to someone else is wait for a chance to purchase a new one if we offer again or if there are other ways to get one. I know the last time we sold them, I think you mentioned they were too expensive.

Gnawed bones and shed white hair form a treacherous carpet on the floor of the den. The cave mouth is at an angle that shields the interior from the wind, and while still chilly, the little enclosure is spared the worst of the elements. A low ceiling curves to form the rear wall of the cave, onto which primitive figures are drawn in old, flaking pigments. The distinctive musk of canines suggests that the den is still very much in use.
Obvious exits: out

It has a weird idea of what a beach is too. Sand + sea = I don't want to play here, I want to play on a beach.
The problem with caves is that there are multiple undergound terrains/climates and players have no way of telling which is which, while potatoes are sensitive to the differences.
I really can't beleive that after 15 years you still can't create a thin peice of metal from a slab

What's the syntax for using those aliases?
set them like ;alias add cfind=;e climate="?"; location_list = []; _previous, shortest_distances = Room.current.dijkstra; Room.list.find_all{|r| location_list.push(r.id) if r.climate =~ /#{climate}/}; location_list.delete_if{|room_id| shortest_distances[room_id].nil?}; location_list = location_list.sort{|a, b| shortest_distances[a] <=> shortest_distances[b]}; location_list.first(15).each{ |n| puts "#{n} - #{Room.list[n].title[0]} - #{Map.estimate_time(Room.current.path_to(n)).to_i} seconds." };
same for the other except tfind(or whatever alias names you want) then you just "cfind/tfind blah"
What "blah" options work? I haven't had success with guesses yet.

Wyrom I waterd my chia pet every day from 12/31/2025 to 01/12/2026, I missed a watering on the 13th and today it will not let me water it and has no orb or leaf, analyze says it needs waterd.
Sounds like it's toast. The comment you're responding to is about the potato not being like the chia pet.
I ate potato salad today.

My tater just got to a little bit past 40K! Which one of you guys has the Quee with the most EXP? I am guessing it's a lot more than my recent achievement!
I'm at 52,500, but there should be people who have like at least 15k more!
I'm almost 20k...
My tater's been sitting in my cloak since I got it. I should probably do something with it eventually.
I'm waiting to see if the golem ever becomes a thing for the potatos to ride around in.
updated the wiki quite a bit: https://gswiki.play.net/Quee_Potato
please let me know if i got anything wrong (or go ahead and fix it)! i listed as many verbs as i could find, but i'm sure i missed something. i also added the instructions pinned in this channel, the analyze, and fixed up the spoiler section with formatting, the loresong, and the LOOK. also ambients! consequently, i took the liberty of removing the "stub" tag.
i previously had the promotional image for the Quee and uploaded it, but it was removed... does anyone have that still?
also, does anyone know how to change the first adjective, like "knobby"? tried playing with APPROVE, ATTEND, ROLL without much luck. thanks!
thanks for making this amazing little guy -- it might be my favorite item in the game which, as a hoarder of fun relics, is saying a lot! can't wait to get his costume altered!
......I want to get a tuxedo for my tater, but I have the feeling that they don't exist in Elanthia.
so for my potato's costume idea, i want to do something like "a grasping ravel of etiolated roots"... i'm told that i need something that i can then use a rectangular clay mold from Delirium Manor on to turn into a doll-sized X, then i can put it on the potato after that. does anyone have an idea of a base item for that which i could then use the mold on to put on the potato?
I would hold off, I'm in the process of changing how Quee can wear clothes to make this process a lot better.
ohh, thank you for the reply! i'll do that.
When can potato friend ride golem friend?
Mayhaps a generic vegetable re-release (next month when i have CLAIM access) so I could obtain a turnip?
Hmmm.
