#Forging polisher CLEAN option issue

I've been forging things for years. Sometime in the past 3 months (give or take) something was changed with how the option to CLEAN the hilt off a perfect weapon description was rolled out and it causes me an issue.

For years it's worked as you'd craft something, here's an example of a weapon I've crafted within the past 12 months:
a perfect maoral-shafted gornar quarterstaff

If I wanted to remove the "maoral-shafted" part of the description I would simply LEAN POLISHER and I would use the CLEAN option. Upon doing so I would be left with a weapon description of:
a perfect gornar quarterstaff

Something has changed though, if I wanted to use the CLEAN option on the polisher today it would end up completely removing the word perfect from the item description and you'd end up with:
a gornar quarterstaff
This wasn't the case a handful of months ago. Using the CLEAN option would have left the word "pefect" as part of the item description.

Why was this changed? I didn't think anything of it when the message came up the other day when I went to clean the hilt off a weapon I crafted and I ended up with a plain jane looking weapon without the word "perfect" in the description. This actually pisses me off, sure it may just be superficial, but the word "perfect" is part of the way to identify your weapon as being player crafted and being the best created piece it can be.

This change needs to be reversed. I will be putting in a request in game to have the item description corrected on my perfect weapon so the word "perfect" is added back to the items description.

It's probably a bug and it might have to do with only certain special metals. Have you noticed it happening with any other material other than gornar?

I checked a couple of other items made from other metals and it returns the same results.
I spoke with a GM about it a bit earlier today, they took notes and said the issue will go to devs - so I wait and see what they are going to do about it.

In the meantime, LEAN POLISHER WITH PERFECT should add "perfect" back into the desc. It's not ideal, I know... but at least you don't have to wait for a GM to fix yer weapon.

huh, I could have sworn I'd CLEANed a weapon made by someone else in the past... I must be remembering incorrectly

I spoke with GM Xeraphina this morning and it was confirmed that everything is working as intended. The POLISHER was adjusted earlier this year and as Starchitin suggested, after you clean a hilt from a perfect weapon you can add the perfect prefix back by LEAN POLISHER WITH PERFECT.

I don't know if all these updates are listed anywhere that constantly get pushed out - I checked through the Chang Log posted on the gswiki, but I found nothing about it there. Trying to find info on here if you're not active on discord is a huge pain due to how disorganized it is. Even the search function doesn't help at times with all the hits you get.

I long for the days of the official forums and having updates posted there. I wish a new forums was created and we didn't have to use this dumpster fire.

I bugged this early on and suggested improvements to functionality so we don't have to take two steps to do what we once could accomplish in one. Maybe the best course at this point would be for other folks to similarly bug the 'feature' as well.

Would it be possible to let anyone change the look of a forged weapon with the polisher please? I've been trying to find the original forger of a weapon I have for weeks now. I suppose my only option is an alteration at this point.

If their name is Speelgutz I can assist you. Otherwise yeah, why can't any smith do this?
