A new informational tool, the PROPERTY verb, is available for those individuals who own private properties to view and change certain information about their private properties.

PROPERTY MINE will show an individual what private properties are owned by which characters on their account, while PROPERTY FLAG will all you to view or change the Room Flag status for the LOCATE, FAMILIAR, TELEPORT, and SAFEHAVEN room flags on and off without GM intervention. Of note, a room must have LOCATE, FAMILIAR, and TELEPORT all off to be considered private for vulgarity purposes; if the space is readily accessible to others, it cannot be considered private.

PROPERTY MINE - Information on your private properties
PROPERTY FLAG INFO - See flag settings for your property you are present in
    PROPERTY FLAG {FAMILIAR | LOCATE | SAFEHAVEN | TELEPORT}
                       - Toggles flag settings for the room you are in

Nice update, I look forward to seeing how else PP's are utilized and updated in the future as more and more of them become available. Now if we could just get PROPERTY STORAGE working 😄

This was in the works since before Puppygate -- it's something we can add to later but at least wanted to get out so people had more control over their spaces. Previously, you were able to decide at the time you won the property what your privacy status would be. This is meant to give you more nuanced control.

I noticed that when playing with my room flag toggles in two rooms, they previously had vulgarity flagged off, but now they are flagged. This was the result of me turning off locate in one room which previously allowed it, and turning on safehaven in another room where it was not set.

I don't mind either way, but I thought it was interesting; it appears that the vulgarity flag is set depending entirely on other flags (which tracks from its explanation - that was just unexpected to see it turned OFF without prompting it). Overall I love this update and very much appreciate the work that went into making it happen.

The price we pay for automation is that things now have to follow the rules!

Regarding the Vulgarity flag, I am a bit disappointed about the decision to flip rooms to monitored despite preexisting settings (some of my rooms were originally set to not-teleport and not-locate but allow familiar), but... yeah I appreciate knowing about this before I get slapped with soap and a warning.

There will probably be case by case rooms that we have to adjust just based on the fact that like 100 different people built these properties

Question:
Would changing the new flags override the location data of the room? I expect it to not show the location information when locate is turned off. However, I noticed that one of mine that does allow locate is no longer displaying the location data, which was showing up properly at least a couple weeks ago.

Can you report from that room for me?

Thanks for getting me all fixed up, Vanah!

Thank you Vanahhhhh! I knew the portable private properties could do (some of) this so I'm super happy to see it roll out to the permanent ones!

All set. Locate off does prevent the LOCATION verb from listing your property name. Here it was ignoring the last room in the property, which has been resolved.

back in the day, setting room flags via GSL used to hard crash the game. Don't pass go, don't collect $200 and get a direct call from onsite asking "WHAT DID YOU DO!???"

now it crashes the game, but the recover takes < .001 seconds so nobody notices

Am I understanding correctly that having Familiars ON should lead to vulgarity monitoring being ON?

Bayview Manor, Foyer Flags:
Locate OFF Allows location spells and items to find you here
Familiar ON Allows familiars and other pets to find you here
Safehaven ON Prevents Spells and Acts of War
Teleport OFF Allows others to fog into the property.
Vulgarity OFF Vulgarity will NOT be monitored or enforced here.
A room must disallow location, familiars, and teleportation in order to be considered private. Any other settings makes this a public property subject to vulgarity rules and monitoring.```

I have several rooms set to allow familiars, obvious reasons, but they still all have vulgarity off. (It's fine with me one way or another, but just checking to see if this is working as intended.)

I imagine the new rules only kick in when/if you update the flags, otherwise whatever state rooms are in will persist

In retrospect, I only toggled things around in the bathroom. Definitely don't need owls there. Policy review is aligned to what the property verb says.

So I guess in the rooms where I only looked but didn't touch, its vulgarity + owls both allowed.

calm depot
#

Yeah. Technically, if someone can send their familiar to you, they can see what goes on and it's not private

#

If you change the settings in those rooms, it will re-evaluate the monitoring status

#

If you don't touch anything, nothing will change

Ooo...I misread how the toggle works. My few rooms I thought got converted are as-is, which is perfect. There are definitely rooms I will be using this on, thank you again Vanah

I believe I got all the stragglers whose property interest wasn't showing correctly. If anyone is still having issues, please submit a bug report while standing in a room in your property.
