Okay, so I mentioned this in #mechanics, but blink has NOT changed at all. And what's happening should not be happening. But it's a quirk in the spell system, not the blink weapon. I don't think it's intended to work, but I'll talk with Estild this week about it.

Well, it's a core spell thing. I think it working is also breaking a lot of other things.

For the record, it would have been here since GM Despil coded this section of the spell system or when GM Nitid edited something about sorcerer spells. It looks to be a misunderstanding of the GSL documentation on spell circles. Two numbers are inversed.

When blink weapons try to flare, they do a roll based on the spell level. If you know the spell or can learn the spell, it shows us. If you don't know the spell, it gives you no information at all because it can't flare. But then it randomly flares at a rate that is wrong (hence why things seems really hard to flare).

I don't see why time matters. If they were won due to a broken system, they should probably be returned and re-auctioned, and the winners should understand that they didn't get them fairly. Meanwhile, if they get to play around with them for a few hours, days, weeks before being returned, I see no harm done.

Simplifying the auction block script so it doesn't have to account for every type of auction and does one portion of it perfectly? For example. (Separating straight auction, reverse auction)

Sure. Personally though, I'm not a big fan of kicking a bunch of people after they had a horrible night. They all worked for months on this, and it was as crappy for them as it was for anyone (more so as there are no GM RPAs that I'm aware of). They're explaining to us what went wrong, and they're doing their best to fix it. I'm not sure how much more we can ask. It's not like we can ask Wyrom to commit seppuku. He's a zombie. It wouldn't work anyway 😉

I was disappointed with the 2 hour delay on starting after the initial bug, but I appreciated that staff tried to push onwards, keeping us somewhat in the loop on Discord and also handing out the RPAs for those of us waiting in the warehouse.

The three hours before midnight went very smoothly, I thought, and I'm very glad for some friends who got items they really wanted and/or got some excellent deals. I hope future auctions using this system look look those three hours.

I was dismayed (but probably should not have been surprised) at the number of players intentionally trying to break things or make things more difficult for other players and staff, such as repeatedly "offering" to break things, putting out tables, using noisy items in an overly crowded room, verbally berating one another, placing things on the auction table, and trying every command possible from drag and drop to rummage to steal or remove items from the auction system.

When midnight struck and Cinderella's auctioneer turned back into a pumpkin, I appreciate the attempts of staff to try to salvage the situation and, ultimately and with some good communication (more so on Discord than in game), postpone the remaining items in the queue. There is no way to salvage that in a way that everyone will be happy. I am pleased to hear that the spirit of last night's auction will continue for the remaining items, that the three items impacted in Prime will be auctioned again as variants, and that the three lucky players who were also victim of the bugs that cropped up will not be penalized for doing what they felt was correct based on what staff in game were saying at the time.

As for what we plan to do? RoL will definitely have this system working a bit better. The Prime issue why we delayed so long was because the bidding system looks for B, M, or K. Well, adding BLOCK to the end broke it. Would have broke the 2016 auction too. It would have broke the Premium auction last year. But a quick fix sent us down a rabbit hole. We had a lot of cooks in the kitchen last night, which is a great thing. I just think it caused some to get flustered as well.

If we're looking at manually doing the auction this coming Saturday, I'll let you all know by Thursday. The problem with a live auctioneer is that we need a team doing it in both instances to accomplish that. I don't know if I can swing manual though because I'm usually your auctioneer for these.

I was dismayed (but probably should not have been surprised) at the number of players intentionally trying to break things or make things more difficult for other players and staff, such as repeatedly "offering" to break things, putting out tables, using noisy items in an overly crowded room, verbally berating one another, placing things on the auction table, and trying every command possible from drag and drop to rummage to steal or remove items from the auction system.

Amen. I hope staff have less tolerance for that behavior next time. It's not funny, it's not amusing.

Just an odd suggestion for silvers as well. Probably too much work, but what if you coded an auction bank. Account accessible. You would depo the silvers you planned to use at the auction into this bank account. There would be a deadline for your deposit. Only silvers in your account could be used to bid. This would both stop having to prohibit silver transfers during the event, but would also lock player silver in case something like this happens again. Again, probably too much work.

Stuff happens. I was irked for about 15 minutes when my literal first bid of the night was the moment it all broke, then I got over it. I assume our frustration of it bugging out are pretty minimal to behind the scenes. Working hard on something only to have it not go as planned is bad enough. Being customer facing and also having to deal with their frustration isn't enviable.

Active wealth was ~50bil last night, which was about what I was cobbling together after looking at silver totals for months. I think there was at least 5bil not accounted for from my stuff, but I'd have to go through it more. That likely seems high, but it's really a decent hit to what has been out there unchecked before loot cap and big silver drains. An EVENT BOX gets a lot of wealth out each time we run it. I'm hoping between the two auctions we'll hit ~15bil out.

For those claiming some moral authority or whatever podium they want to prop themselves up on... Get over yourself. I've been told by multiple people that some folks can't keep my name out of their mouth for winning that gown last night.

My item was there first one it broke on, had no way of knowing that was going to happen. I was charged the silver instantly for. I stayed around for a long time, and even asked via report directly what the plan was for the gown win, and was told I was in the clear.

They are putting an extra one in, so no one is losing out on anything, and I had zero responsibility for what happened. I feel in no way ill about keeping my win, if you got a problem with that, that is your problem, not mine. I expect no further harassment over this.

And yes, I am keeping it, not selling it, not that that matters.

So let's unpack that a bit. Why don't we get more heavy handed? Well number one, this is a game. We've had heavy-handed APMs and PMs in the past and I really don't agree with it. In my time as staff, I've banned a very small amount of players (this isn't talking about 30 to 90 day AFK scripting lockouts). I'm usually the one that lets someone back from a ban. We're a game chugging along since the late 80s, with several thousands of active accounts sticking with hundreds of concurrent users in game at a time. It's easy to say, "Why not ban them?" or "Why aren't they HMC?" We'd not have much of a game left though. We attract a lot of personalities to the game. Not all of those are going to line up with each other. Unless it's a direct violation of POLICY (and maybe a little bit of the ToS, that thing is old though), I feel like a "knock it off" is better than showing someone the door. And we warn a lot.

Many of us, myself included, like to keep things lighthearted. Sometimes that doesn't play well though. I made a joke about 5 minutes being Valve time, and so people took my joke and went too far with it in a few places. People were bored sitting there for 2 hours though, so causing some mischief is expected. It's a hard line to really determine when things go too far until they go too far though.

We are putting a stop to the largely negative or passive aggressive comments on Discord though. It's demoralizing to everyone.

Bidding booths. You can go in alone, or as a group, but once inside, no one can join you. If you exit the booth, you can't return. Silver cannot be exchanged inside said booth. You cannot be heard outside the booth. The auction item is placed on a table in the viewing room, that can be inspected remotely.

TBH, aside from the things out of anyone's control, I was far more upset by player conduct last night than I was by actions of the staff... though with the mood I found myself in I was liable to lash out at anyone, so I was trying my best to just observe. I stand by my comment that there should have been a back-up plan since that automated auction is known to be finicky, but staff actually did a pretty good job in the situation they found themselves in.

I was really disappointed that the system broke before the pie box went up for bids, which was severely compounded when it became clear that I wasn't going to be able to be around for any of the options being mentioned for "rain delays". You all have no idea how perfect that item would be for a character I've played for 20 years now... I knew I likely didn't have the silvers to beat a couple others that had expressed interest, but there was a chance they'd decide they wanted something else more or would have mercy on me.

I see there's a small chance that the auction will be resumed in the afternoon on Sun, if I have a vote it'll be for then... the earlier the better. That day's my birthday so it would be extra exciting if the universe conspired to let me win it then. Though, even if I could get out of going out to dinner with my family that night, I wouldn't... and I have to work Saturdays so if it's then I'm just screwed. Anyway, this is just me rambling into the void... I'ma go get my login boosts and try to decide if I want to keep all my silvers on Star in case I can make the rain date, or distribute it back to the characters it came from so I can resume the projects I had with them.

The T5 only adds the sanct ability and 2 more verbs to unlock. Better than an SK 220 basically as there's no hindrance, no cast, you just go tome with group. Works while its flying so you dont even have to stop to hold it.

With it being a CMAN skill, it'd push it to more of a post cap goal.

I mean it takes the script slot and flares on it, even at 20x all the time which, even when the formula is solved, would be more like 95-100 as you wouldn't want it to tick over due to time mismatches or lag, just look at how many times wait 4 seconds of rt is wrong

My first thought when I saw the regen bug (scarab) was, man that's 25 mana/stamina recovery! It's cool that you don't have to recharge it though.
