Hello my friends! I would like to petition (again) that we free up some of the titles. My rogue, god bless him, is an unusual build of spear/shield ambusher. I would love it if i could get the Dragoon title (obviously not going to happen as it is a pay title), but at the very least I feel I should be able to apply the Lancer title. It fits my vision perfectly, and he has all the requirements with the exception of not being a warrior. So I say, if you have the required skillsets and what not, let the titles be free to whomever! Thought? Concerns? Thanks for looking!

yeah that tracks, if you're a 2x square doing polearms, you should have access to the polearm based titles, IMO
Yeah the titles could def use some rehaul
We gate extraordinarily odd things in GS. Titles included
Being a bit less stringent with prereqs on titles would be fun for sure, as well as maybe adding some new ones
like to see profession reqs dropped entirely from the skill-based titles
i like that you have to earn the titles via training (like, its a cool thing to work towards/unlock) but gatekeeping based on profession is limiting and I dont see the benefit
Yes! Skill based titles really should be accessible by all who can train those skills. They put the same time, effort, and TPs (potentially more TPs if we’re being real) into that skill set, they deserve the title access too.
So if they unlocked profession based titles that require a skill to unlock could anyone say train 20 ranks of Necro lore and have the title necromancer. Or should it be any pure class can unlock it. And any square class can unlock a skill based titles from any other skill profession? Not sure what to do with semi professions though but it's a cool idea in general
If you're kind of blind and just glancing through forum posts, this forum title takes on a whole new meaning.
yeah im not sure the necromancer thing was the best example, warriors can't raise the undead, etc.
That's kind of my point. It's just a skill based thing for a sorcerer so maybe it's only available to sorcerer, paladin, and cleric with the skill training.
But a warrior who decides to grab 20 ranks of lore qualifying for it is kind of amusing
well right, I don't think they're wanting every single title open to every single character, more that the ones that make sense... its obviously silly for a warrior to be a necromancer, but a rogue can absolutely use a lance as a main weapon and be a lancer
I really wanted my empath to be a mountaineer. But it's not open to pures, just everyone else. Just one of those things.
