Ah ha! I see I’m not the only one struggling to understand how this all works.

This was the basis of my email to you as I can’t seem to add my “shelf” to my bookcase in the library. It currently only has 2 shelves and was built with the book-inator shelving I mind.

Basically, it won’t let me add a shelf to the room (because it says there’s already a shelf in the room) to then move it into the bookcase.

Can someone please provide an example of how they have utilized an imbed slip? I am just having a hard time conceptualizing this service, and I am realizing that most of my confusion comes down to just not understanding the service, despite it being very clearly explained.

i had this line in one of my rooms: White pine curios occupy the four corners, their tops covered in large earthen pots of glossy blue and teeming with ivy plants whose gangling limbs are coaxed into tiny hooks that encircle the room at ceiling level.
"pots" was not a linked item.
i bought a blank foraged item prop slip and created an item with the noun "pot." i placed the pot in the room, then used an imbed slip and asked to make the "pots" in the room linked to the forage item prop with my show. it puts them in the room description rather than the "you also see" line.

My example is birdhouses mentioned in the garden room description, again with no link. I altered a mailbox into a birdhouse and used an IMBED slip so now the word “birdhouse” is activated as my mailbox and not in the “You also see…” line.

These examples help so much. This entire time I have been focused on finding existing linked items to imbed things into. That is what furniture movers are for - to move them on/behind/under those linked items. The property imbed creates a new linked item. I think I have this clear in my head now?

Can imbedded props be replaced this way? For example, if I have a "plant" with a show that I dislike... can I whip myself up a forage prop, then use an imbed slip to replace the existing plant?

There is an entire room in my shared property that is dedicated to um... breaking down animals and curing hides. And there is food in there. If I ever win a redesign or room addition, that space is becoming a sauna.

Rows of roughly hewn wooden slabs are pushed to the side of the square-shaped room, each one with its own set of wickedly sharp tools exhibited on hanging steel hooks behind it. Ledges teeming with a multitude of supplies and other labeled toolboxes wrap around the upper half of the walls. Prepped for longer periods of work, an aged vultite-chased lantern hovers above an elaborate fir sideboard. Scads of untanned hides are stacked next to a fauna-carved rowan arch, opposite another meticulously sorted selection of variegated pelts.

I don't hate my property, but I purchased it 10 years ago and now me and then me have two very different perspectives on what I like. Also, after moving the property some of my rooms don't ... go with the new location. I can see:

Looking out across the landscape, Seethe Naedal rises high to the west, its domed observatory aglow in the sunlight.  To the east, a pair of bridges, one light and one dark, hover in the air above the city, creating visual markers that lead directly to the Sapphire Gate far below.

When I got my property from an auction years ago, the first time I saw it I was told I could only make minor changes. The first change I insisted on was color. The GM who built it mixed crimson and scarlet in most of the rooms. Crimson and scarlet do NOT go well together. One being a blue red and the other an orange red. I begged her to make it all crimson. 😹

So the way the bookcases work is that they look for a HIDDEN shelf and automatically display it IN the bookcase (but it's not really in the bookcase, that's a misnomer.)

Honestly, the how is less for me than just being able to store, in one place, all of the -inators of a type and be able to access them all in one place.

It's mostly... an organization thing. And if this is a method that facillitates that for all -inators I think (hopefully) a lot of people would be able to use home storage for crafting stuffs.

What about an item that works like a basketifier works, but with different nouns, that can only be placed/nudged in a private property. Like a serving platter.

You place the serving platter on a surface, and then whatever food/drink has been added to the serving platter is available, unlimitedly.

(I realize I could do this with a basketifier, but different nouns would be cool and I'd like to get rid of my original food.)

I have, and I know a few people have, static fireplaces in their properties. I wouldn't mind at all, like very much, to be able to add a basket of sticks to make it functional but not if it's a lot of work! Do tell 🙂

Remember the days before keyless entry? When we could abduct someone and keep them prisoner in our properties? Yeah, me either :wink wink: I think they changed that and when you log out it kicks you out of a property so we couldn't keep slav...er accidently lock someone in. Now that I think about it. I have altered my stove, yes. The line that you see looking at it is hard-coded and will always be there (but you do not need to include it with your alteration design, it's just automatically added on afterward). Your alteration can't contradict it.

~~I may have stupidly added my book-inator shelf to the wrong room (in my pre-coffee state early this morning) but also noticed that the alter (via Sadie) was applied incorrectly. I have an ASSIST to fix it and hope my shelf can be moved to the Library where it should go into the bookcase. Suggestion: I bought a necklace that hold keys (a ring chain) specifically at the Velvet Gallery last year at the Festival in Nielira Harbor. While not as fun and fashionable as a chatelaine it definitely has come in handy. So those might work for some of you if you find them for sale.

It's just occurred to me to ask if the "temporary homes" count as private properties? I have the Hobbit Hole with a functioning fireplace, bed, and wash basin. Is it possible to place something like a tub, forage prop or book-inator in these?

They are not. And I believe the room descriptions are hard-coded, they're more like a custom sanctuary than a private property.

Katara had a good question that I'm going to answer here. Her question was, Can I use an imbed slip to put an item in a look?
Imbed slips basically turn an item into a link and hide them from the room's "You also see." This means that they can be imbedded in LOOKs of other items, too.

For example:
You have a counter in your kitchen. Your room description doesn't need to mention the basin if the counter does.

Stationary kit - it holds paper supplies but is per item count, not a nator.

Also, used packages and envelopes need an item in them before you can even save them anywhere for later use. The empty packages are very heavy and take up a lot of space.

Thandiwe, I've got (I think) an old unused foraged item prop document. Because the page on the wiki mentions twig/stick and thorn as possible for a shrub. But this doesn't. Only flowers/mushrooms.

The person altering it should be able to assist you as they can see more than you can. That being said, #5 can be flower, cone, leaf, thorn, or mushroom. #4 can be flower, cone, leaf, stick, or mushroom. Basically, anywhere you see a flower/cone/leaf combination you can have a mushroom.

Question about the door that showed up outside Talon Redoubt in Pinefar. I'm assuming it leads to the plat version that was ported over. Can we hide that door the way the original is hidden, except maybe with a path instead of a trail or something? That would be more in keeping with the style of the original, and to be honest, a bit less jarring.

Okay I have a bookinator ready to install via imbed slip. I have the shelves altered but not the base description. Will I need to do that before rerdeeming my imbed request? IE does it need to match the description of the bookshelves already in the room?

Maylan, when I had mine done, I redeemed the bookcase cert in that room and used the imbed cert to essentially have the bookcase's three shelves moved/imbedded into the pre-existing object's description. I was not able to have the nouns match since mine were "bookshelves" and bookcases have to stay bookcases. the "bookcase" was completely removed from view. my three shelves were altered in advance, however.

Is candle-making an artisan skill yet? Now that we can have beehives in our private properties would be nice to use the honeycomb to make candlewax. Then there could be a candle-system used with the private properties for more user involvement.

Loving the looseleash system even with them going missing a few times. It's like turning the ambience of the house, or in my case Tree, into an interactive showcase.
