#[Official] GSWiki Discussion, v2.0
1 messages · Page 3 of 1
same here, across Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Wiki took 8-10 seconds to load, store.play.net and play.net loaded in 2-3 seconds max. Even for firefox/edge which didn't have anything cached because I don't use them for GS generally
FWIW, I see the same issue with the DR wiki (elanthipedia.play.net)
Okay. I know chrome eats resources so I wanted to rule out the Google overlords
Totally fair...and I may have about 20 Chrome windows and probably 100+ tabs up. 😄 Firefox and Edge were clean though, just the wiki tab.
This is also across devices for me. I use google on mobile and encounter the same lag
I see the same issue using the duckduckgo browser
Whatever was going on seems to have cleared up. For the last few hours I have had no lag
NB: I could not find the Scripting Reference page for Wrayth at the wiki. It used to be there under the Stormfront Scripting Reference.
https://gswiki.play.net/Wrayth
Above page links to below page
https://www.play.net/gs4/play/wrayth_scripting.asp
So I should have searched via Google instead? 😦
So sorry, folks.
And this is semi-why you're seeing a bunch of old stuff pop up on the wiki. 😅
It is good the old stuff is being preserved. Lots of work went into those when they were relevant, and most still are
yeah, a good amount of them are still gtg, but some need severe updating which is a step further along.
Can I get some help fixing the table on this page?
https://gswiki.play.net/Mage's_Gauntlet
Also need to add the RP verbs:
All tiers have access to the following RP verbs: wear, remove, pinch, attend, stretch, hold, ponder and fidget.
If someone could setup the table, I have the info to fill in the blanks
Also question on Platinum Character pages. Would it be better to make an entirely new Prime instance page for those who migrated, or do a redirect? I would ultimately like to preserve the platinum character page, but will seek guidance before I make any changes.
Also as a side note, I know I need permission from anyone to edit their pages, would I need permissions on every page created or would it be acceptable to only have permission on one page? I want to try to assist Platinum players who have migrated with moving thier wiki pages for them, but not really keen on asking everyone to grant permission on every page.
It's per page, and the notation has to be made by the account holder (in the "talk" section) using a time stamp to denote your account has permissions. I think sub-pages under a page you have permission to edit might fall under that, but I have never been able to get that verified. Non character pages, of course, are open edit.
That is going to be up to individual player preference how they want to do things. There will be no set way aside from the guidelines and policy already in place as they are more free form.
Additionally, as long as the main page has the permission noted, subpages to that page are included in the umbrella.
Thanks for clarifying about subpages attached to a character page. I've always been unsure of whether they were open edit like other non-protected wiki pages, or considered "a part of a character page" where the policy method of granting permissions for the parent character page would cover edits. That's good to know!
Would permission on another players user page cover any pages made by that user, or would I need separate permissions for each character? I hope to update things for platinum folk who are not too comfortable on wiki edits, and want to make sure any changes made on their behalf do not get reverted.
I did something similar on my other accounts, so I do not have to remember who created which character page: https://gswiki.play.net/User_talk:TRUEOUTSOLDIER
Each character
I like it! I think the issue might come up in moderation, though, since a moderator won't see that notation on another page.
I think I fixed the tables. I combined what you had for turn since all the messaging was basically the same except the colors.
Excellent thank you. Now I just have to figure out the verb table for the rp verbs
How does one "move" a page?
Looking to move Tanai (platinum) to Tanai (prime) and Kaija (platinum) to Kaija (prime)
I have permission from the user and want to save the edit history vs creating a whole new page
~~I think these are the only options given player user permissions:
Option 1) In the Talk section of the "Tanai (platinum)" page, using an account with edit permissions, request for moderators to rename the page to "Tanai (prime)", and then maybe make a comment here as well to be sure it isn't overlooked.
Option 2) Create the "Tanai (prime)" page, move over all the content from the "Tanai (platinum)" page. Then blank the "Tanai (platinum)" page and in the Talk section, using an account with edit permissions, ask for the page to be deleted.
My approach would be #1 as it feels less cumbersome, and it would also maintain the original page creator that way (since you're doing this to help folks with the plat/prime transfers rather than editing your own page).~~ (See Tennalnen's post below)
I am dumb. I figured it out. Under the "more" section is the move page option.
Oh nice! We were in the same boat there! That's so much easier!
And it preserves the edit history and discussion pages, which was my major concern.
I was looking to move a page in the past, and when I didn't find the option, just chalked it up to the permissions; turns out I was just looking in the wrong place!
Yes, page moves can be done by anyone, as long as the page isn't protected. Page moves also = page renames so if you make a mistake on a page name, you can move it to get that rename.
Also, if you want the redirect deleted, since for standard users, it will ALWAYS leave a redirect, pop the Delete template on that page.
Seems like the lag is back on the wiki
So...is there a way to reply to someone who posts on your talk page?
Edit the User Talk page and just add the reply after the comment. You can get fancy if you know how, but I do not. Just remember to use x4 ~ to sign it after
You don't need to put that response here. If it was tagged by a moderator, your best bet for communication is to respond via their TALK page.
How do I navigate to the TALK page? Nevermind. I think I see it now.
...there is something broken with the charts on this page:
https://gswiki.play.net/MoonShard_pendant#Bloodrunes
At least that I can see currently.
Starting at Released 2017 and getting worse thereafter.
It looks like a trasclusion issue, which is way above my skill level to fix.
I'll take a look at some point this week. Everything transcluded fine before. I suspect there may have been something in the update, but the last time I touched these pages, I think, was in 2022 and there have been edits after me so hard to say.
Also just fyi, I am still having those weird connection issues randomly. Just had a serious one hit where it wouldn't load up for almost 45 seconds
We've already bubbled it up. They weren't able to find anything that was specifically causing it. There was mention from another GM that it's likely when there is a queue/job update that's causing the intermittent slowness.
If that's what's causing it, then there's not really anything to be done. Just a sit back, wait, and be patient.
Given that it isn't consistent, I suspect that's the likely culprit.
The Wiki never seems to remember that I set it in dark mode, not even from page to page....is that a wiki thing or something up with my browser?
What browser are you using and why can I not spell properly the first time today?
I'm not having an issue with it shifting back to default on chrome so that might be it?
Are you logged in?
Yep, just double checked. I hit the darkmode setting at the top and the next page is right back go bright blinding white
The only thing I can guess is maybe the CSS is being cached in your browser for some reason. Might trying setting it to darkmode and then clearing your cache? Can't really think of anything else that would be causing it to revert on each page.
I just tested, and I am experiencing the same thing. Not logged in, and darkmode seems to not save.
Logging in, darkmode stayed with me. Log back out, and it reverts
If you're not logged in, it won't stay. That setting is supposed to update in the user preferences in the database. If you're not logged in, it just goes to default theme when you load a page.
I know this likely isn't the case, but just double checking: You're logged into the wiki, correct, and not just the GemStone IV website? Just tossing that out there since the behavior you're describing is how exactly how it behaves when not logged in.
Correct. Not a bad thing to check, given how many different "logged in" meanings there are (website, wiki, game, store....)
I wonder if your current altitude is screwing with things
lol, but no. Has always been an issue for me, just more annoying on a dark aircraft. (For context for others: at the time of these messages, I am approximately 30,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean. 😄 )
The past 24-48 hours have been noticeably harsh for the wiki. Many people have commented on Discord and in-game on esp about the lag. I know there isn't much that can be done, but just wanted to toss this out there
I read that as attitude.
The slowness might not be consistent throughout the day, but it's been consistently happening daily, for long stretches of time during the day, for weeks now.
The wiki slowness issue is getting horendous. Not just ours, it's happening to DR's elanthipedia too. Not sure what it is, but it's making using the wiki unbearable. /endrant
#game-chatter message
It cleared up a bit last night at 11pm.... but it is being investigated. It seems to be all of them.
Smooth sailing so far today and last night
TY Kebechet for solving that transclusion issue.
It's been okay for me today.
How do I rename the Buyer's Choice for the Upcoming Premium Festival? I did it yesterday, and today, the fesetival has a new name. 😦
Move page to the new name. In the drop down menu next to view history
Then just mark the old page for deletion with delete or leave the redirect
Afraid I have no idea how to delete it, either.
Edit the page with the redirect to only include delete
A mod will come along and delete it
https://gswiki.play.net/Template:Delete
Oh, I'm not touching that. More wiki than I know, or want to know.
If God had intended me to delete a wiki page, there would be a DELETE box somewhere on the edit page.
You can't delete it. You have to use delete to mark the page for deletion, then a moderator will come around and actually delete the page at a later time
Its as simple as editing the old page, and adding the delete onto the page anywhere.
I would do it, but I fear the Mods would think I was being malicious
What?! This makes no sense at all.
I just write DELETE in the page contents? well, in brackets.
Well, neverthe mind, the old page does not apper to be there anymore anyway.
Oh, it is there, but has a redirect. What will I break if I do the delete on it?
shouldn't break anything. If you have any links made that use the old page, they might break,
sorry didn't mean to reply to that
Scary red notice happened, so I guess I did it right. GULP
Thank you ever so much, Mister Tennalnen.
It was likely already moved by the moderator in preparation for the upcoming festival
Looks like the delay/issue is back this morning. I had some minor issues yesterday which could have been on my end, but this morning its going really slow and I had a few times that it didn't load the first couple times
I know this isn't really the right place. But the play.net/gs4 main page has the Simucon in St Louis, MI
Should be MO for Missouri if I remember my abreviations correctly
SURPRISE! It's in St Louis, Michigan!
Wiki Lag is back again, just keeping a record of when I notice it the worst. Maybe it is down, because I just went 60+ seconds and it still won't load for me
I did run into that right after you said something, but it appears to be a non-issue now.
Yup, seems like it was just a temporary thing. Smoothly loading now
This is wild. Had a slow down about an hour ago, now it is not loading at all
play.net/gs4 loads fine, its just the wiki
It really is in and out on things.
It also seems to be worse if you do EDIT vs. EDIT source
I wonder of it is a case of too many chefs in the kitchen, i.e. multiple people using visual edit in a tab at the same time
I thought there was a major issue with plain EDIT?
I ALWAYS use EDIT SOURCE.
visual edit can break templates really easily, yeah. if you ever see a page that looks broken, it's because someone did a visual edit on it and it had a template (like the template used for log clips which is on basically every page of the entire wiki).
Wiki has failed to load about a dozen times in the last 5 minutes. Was ok for most of the day, but its really really bad now
maybe easier said than done but throwing a varnish cache seems to help for the php stuff I've seen at work: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Varnish_caching
nearly a week of decent loading and today it is being slow(currently at least)
When it happens, it behaves like the process is getting hung up, which leads me to believe it more of a plugin conflict than a resources issue. I wonder if there's a debug log setup?
I almost forgot how much the wiki lag annoyed me 🙃
lag is back in force the last couple days
On the page for Swimming, does anyone know what the suggested 30-40 ranks to swim into the Rift is based on... or is it just something that's always been suggested without question? My ranger's been making the swim with no problems with only 15 ranks cause I didn't think to check the wiki until she'd already swam in a handful of times.... gotten nicked for a handfull of HP a couple times, but that's it.
this is kind of awkward, but I went to look at the history to see who added the rift swimming line to the wiki, and I'm fairly sure it was you, in november 2020. I have always just assumed whoever added it knew some ancient lore!
well I'll be a shaved nug.... looks like you're right.
must have been info I got before bringing one of mine in there and it worked so I added it
based on the notes added since then, I'm curious if swimming actually helps with that swim if you have less than 100 ranks.... but I'm not curious enough to fixskills any of my character's ranks away to test it
though, looking further at that table, the notes about Maelstrom Bay aren't accurate at all. There's def more to that swim than just a base 2 sec RT, cause all my chars that have actually made the swim have had a higher RT than that.... and when a character will get exhausted and drown on that swim is a separate variable that's also affected by the swimming skill
https://gswiki.play.net/Tenebrific_wraith_shark
I thought I added these creatures correctly but they don't show up in the list at the bottom for near-level creatures
Looks like maybe needs to be added to these as well?
https://gswiki.play.net/Category:Level_X_creatures_templates
Yes, I just added Kelpie to the 112 Template and it now shows up
Yep, this. I ran into the same issue when adding the wyrm last year. Also weird timing, I added it exactly one year ago today. 😄
Going to go through and add all the ones you updated to the Category Sailor's Grief creatures
Should be good now, will let one of the moderators go through and alphabetize them
Appreciate it Ten
This was done and handled by the moderator yesterday.
Added the new Policy info to the wiki. Still needs a bit of love(I am not the best at formatting)
Is there no page at the wiki for the Ferryman's Lantern itself? All I can find is the background lore article.
Doesn't look like it, they might've gotten overlooked last year.
I could probably make one for it in a little bit, though it'll be pretty bare bones.
If I made one, it would ust make more work for someone to fix up to spec. 🙁
If you have the info, it is better to get it on the wiki and have someone else get it to standard than to not have it on the wiki at all.
I am also trying to find Mechspinner info. But maybe I have the wrong name for it.
Here ya go, Luxelle: https://gswiki.play.net/The_Ferryman's_Lantern
Someone else will have to fill it out since I neglected to get panes, lol.
I think there's trouble at the Bloodriven Village shop page this time for the Wild Instinct shop .... it's listing the contents of Untamed spirits.
So the Animalistic Armor is nowhere to be found without that.
Specifically https://gswiki.play.net/BVShop:Wild_Instinct/August_2025 isn't populated properly
Fixed.
Well, that was fast! I was still cross-eyed over so many Animalistic Spirit thingies all tangled up!
Someone with proper permissions should edit the Main Page and remove the reference to GSBACKAFTER6. I heard it was deactivated Monday, 18th August.
Wiki seems to be down
my character wiki page got flagged, I'm not sure how to communicate on the talk page for the wiki
You utilize the talk page (discussion tab) and edit it the same way you would a regular article. Be sure to sign your responses with ~~~~ as that will ensure it has a timestamp/date, and your user name in the response. If you're communicating back to the moderator, you would do that action on their talk page.
Eladarmi's player started my wiki page. I just started updating it recently.I I guess I would prefer to be the only one editing it now that he helped me get it set up. It makes sense the wiki-bosses thought it was Eldarmi's character.
This is basically to protect you and your character page. It's part of policy.
its a very good policy that makes sense, im just a wiki noob. looking to resolve now.
does this look like Im on the path to resolving it?
You basically just need to respond and say that someone else started it for you with your permission, but you'll be doing the edits from now on. Also, you can mention that the other person still has permission to edit, if you want them to.
Hey, guys... I'm doing some testing on a new verb info sidebar for the verbs pages. I'm simplifying the template which will simplify the verb page form and make it easier even if you weren't using that form. I'm also testing some formatting changes, as well. I'm linking it here for some feedback in case anyone might have any:
System would include?
Special case would include other scripts/items that may use an identical verb, overwriting the normal use?
I looked at the main page
I think it includes the stuff it already includes
Ok, real feedback now.
I like the new layout. The side by side looks much cleaner than just a list.
Maybe have race before citizenship, and do those side by side, unless it gets bulky
Side by side, you mean for the entries as opposed to being listed out on one side? Just making sure I understand that piece properly.
Yes, how demeanor and wedding are next to each other, rather than above and below
So, those are only like that because otherwise, it would be 4 lines instead of 2. Those are the ones that are able to be done that way. The rest of them, because of the possibility of multiple entries (imagine it being fully spread out like a multiple towns had the same verb), then we would end up being quite bulked out.
Daydream, as an example, has different variations for all the towns citizens.
Demeanor and Wedding are easy. It's yes or no.
As far as moving race above citizen. Citizen comes before race because, in most cases, any race can have access to verbs as long as they are citizens of the town. Since racial and cultural verbs are limited to those races or cultures, they're a bit more restrictive and therefore. citizen trumps them.
Alternately, I could keep the current format of the old sidebar, but have it set up as a list and just make sure it wraps out properly... which could also work.
But I'm also trying to make it so that this doesn't end up causing the sidebar to be massively oversized.
I trust in your logic better than my own. I approve.
Not MANY verbs have so many options, just a few
They don't. It's future-proofing.
It would be nice having a list of verbs we can check to see if anything conflicts, in the future. Like a master cross reference of verbs and what various scripts that have traps for the verbs. So you can see if one will conflict with another for combination via flourish or whatever. Not even sure it was feasible
Uhm maybe link somehow to the verb table on the script pages? Compiles a list of scripted items that trap HUG?
That may be easier said than done.
Much easier said, than done. But yes, something where each script page table links back to the verbs, so when you look at verb hug it shows all the scripts with various hug traps
So... as much as I may like this set up, the initial testing I did with Windows Narrator to test the screen reader accessibilty resulted in... not so screen reader friendly... so it's back to the old way, but moderately updated in format so that it lists in a row instead of up and down.
You can always click on "what links here" from any page (like a verb page) to see what points at it, but that would take manual cross referencing for scripts
TBF, this update is a predessor to some of the more complicated ones... like item pages... to test and see what I can and can't do so there's a possibility we'll see something similar.
Okay, I'm pretty satisfied with how this is looking. Just be aware... I'm going to break some verb pages that haven't already been converted over. Getting this and the form updated will likely take a few days so please be patient while I work out the kinks from this roll out. Thanks!
How and where do I use |border-color=
|background-color=
|color=
This is part of the Character's pages's Template
I’d also like to add a friends column and an age column in the Template
Are you talking about the character template?
Yes
If the template doesn't already have it, please do not add it. You can use the TALK page to send a message to the administrators/moderators to request that addition. It will be reviewed and a decision will be reached regarding it.
Looks like I can’t do anything until after it’s deleted, but I want to be prepared
https://gswiki.play.net/index.php?title=Template:Characterprofile&action=edit
Copy and paste the text from this page for use on yours, then add the changes to the specific areas for color and backround, and then you can also add lines i believe to your own for special rows
Since the template is used on many, many pages, edits to the template are not recommended unless done by someone who can verify that things will not break in the template when doing so.
Okay. I will do that after it’s deleted then.
Ya, but where would I put it, Ten? Right after the name category?
You can see example under the source tab of this page
https://gswiki.play.net/Tennalnen_(prime)
She's asking to add parameters to the template itself.
For the request to add additional parameters to the template, you would use this talk page: https://gswiki.play.net/Template_talk:Characterprofile
Please be sure to sign your request with ~~~~
Right. Which I think you can customize your own personal template by adding it?
I’ll refer to the parts that I like on your page, Ten, but I’ll do as Xera says
No, you can't. If the parameters aren't there to use in the template, ready to go, then you can't add those in manually to your own.
Thanks to you both! 😁
Regarding your deletion... Are you asking to delete what's on your user page or did you make a separate character page?
Ahh ok. But you can delete them and they won't appear? My page has less than the template, but still references the template....but I always defer to your knowledge in this field.
Yes. The fields, if available, will only populate when there is an entry. If there's nothing filled in there, for the most part, they will not gen in the template.
I made 2, I think, but I messed up on both. I want them both deleted. I can’t make another until the messed up Sythana page is deleted
FYI.. the characterprofile template actually does support colors, which directly impact the colors OF the template itself as it displays on your character page.
|border-color=#123456 (six digit hex code for that color you want, this is what the BORDER color of the characterprofile will look like and will override the default)
|background-color=#123456 (this is what the BACKGROUND color for the text bar on top of the characterprofile is, putting this in will override the default)
|color=#123456 (this is the FONT color of the characterprofile, putting something in here will override the default)
They're all optional and if not filled in (or even included) will all default to the standard color. https://gswiki.play.net/Kippe_(prime) is one character page with nonstandard colors (#967bb6 for both the border and the background, and #FFFFFF for the color/font).
I think that's what was being asked earlier but I could be wrong.
I see this to your link, Xera. I can’t do anything to any parts of this link. Maybe I should ad ~~~~in my talk in Sythana after I make the basic one?
Soooo... a couple things:
- I only see the deletion request template on your User TALK page. For the purposes of the wiki, the means you want your user TALK page deleted, not the user page.
- Your user page is your own personal playground page to make mistakes on. I would not recommend actually deleting the contents of that page as you can definitely use it to finetune things out. You can continue to make edits to that page, as needed, or you can clear it out. Even if you blank that page, it is unlikely we will delete any of that. My apologies for the instruction I gave yesterday, as I thought this was in reference to a character page which is handled differently than your user page.
- Once you are actually satisfied with how it looks on your user page, you can copy/paste the contents into your character page following the style guide for them. But even if you don't follow it, our moderators are very good about making sure the important pieces of the style guide/policy are in place. Otherwise, they will not touch your page unless you specifically ask them to, and even then, in most cases, they will try to walk you through whatever your request is (aside from page deletion... that can only be done at moderator and up).
You need to log in.
Oh, oops
You can also make Subpage sandboxes on your USER page which let you keep a User page and still have places to mess around with edits and formats before making a new page or editting something
For instance... This page: https://gswiki.play.net/Sythana_(prime) is your character page. THIS is the page we do not want blanks and unlabeled as it doesn't give a clear indication what you want, and the page will continue to exist, history and all. This is the page you would want to add the delete template to.
Did I put the delete in the right place now?
Yes, you did!
I don’t understand how to do that. Maybe I’ll have to wait until everything is set up and Sythana is erased. By then, I may just put it in and hope it’s right the first time
https://gswiki.play.net/User:BETHANYASAY/Sandbox1
Create this page, and it can be your own private page to play around with formats and edits, etc.
You can see an example of one of mine here
https://gswiki.play.net/User:NHAYES/Sandbox_1
On your page, you can just do name) to create a subpage on that page. You don't need to save the link like that, but it'll populate a redlink you can click on to create it.
That’s great! Then I can see what it would look like too?
I suggest opening it in a separate tab, and yeah... Make liberal use of the Preview button at the bottom of your edit page to see how your page will look. It's fantastic if you're not sure what you want is what will come out.
Show Preview is such an essential tool. Lets you check to make sure everything looks right before that final save. Can save a lot of edit history by using the preview option. I also prefer the edit source function, vs just Edit, as the source code is easier to manipulate for me at least
I tried doing that on my regular page. It kind of showed me the code in a non-edit form. I couldn't see how it would look like in the end
Something else to note... when you need to communicate with people, please ONLY use the TALK Page/Discussion tab. Putting anything on their user page (not the talk page) is a policy violation unless the user has given you express permission to make edits to their user page.
That makes sense
Were you using edit or edit source? If you're using edit, that opens the visual editor and that... is not recommended, honestly, unless your page is going to be basic and not really use templates or anything beyond simple text.
Okay, so!!! Verb template is live. This also means that there are pages that are semi-broken for the time being, but I'm not ready to fix them yet (sorry). What I need is some feedback on the verb form. Not the old one. The new one, which will be copy/pasted into the old one for use once I verify that it's working and people understand what to do/how to use it. Please play around and test it for me. I've done tests myself and finagled the necessary finagling and everything works as needed for my end, but I also want to make sure that it is easy to use and user friendly.
Let me test it out
It would help if the formatting you want used is in the instructions for each section. Like if I am supposed to use <pre> in help and info, and that blue font thing in info, and the verb table template thing for the usage that I could copy/paste and fill in
I'm going to add those from the old form before full release, for sure. I was looking that over yesterday. This is just the preliminary test for functionality.
For instance, this form makes use of sections in the form, and those sections won't populate unless there's something in them. This is super helpful because it eliminates the need for an additional template to set up parameters.
Update:
Everything seems to be in working order. Our moderator did a test and there was a slight hiccup, but overall, the verb form and verb templates update has gone very well. That being said... 😄
These updates are now live, except for the form which I need to copy/paste from the test form into the actual form. I've also created tables for verbs that will format things easier for people so it's more a fill in the blank scenario than "OMG I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FORMAT THIS" situation. Please feel free to do the needful if you wish. I intend to, like the town shops, sweep though the verbs and get what needs to be gotten.
Update #2(?):
Y and W verbs have been converted or updated. I'm currently debating how to handle the List of Verbs page as that will see an update, as well, since the verbinfo template makes use of page properties which is how we get those lovely autopopulating lists that work so well!
someone was asking me the other day about the old qrs script that gave info on different things, like ;qrs 414 would tell you about the spell. would it be possible to have a native command that pulls in wiki information, kind of like DEFINE?
While what you are asking for is wiki-related, it is more game engine-related, so this is likely not the best place to ask. Mechanics might be better.
My account name is on my character page! Instead of erasing the Sythana_prime, my username is the title! Please erase it. The new template for Sythana isn't working either, not even on my page with my account name with the template that was given
In short:
1.) I don't want my account name on the wiki: erase it
2.) The Template made for Sythana doesn't work (doesn't have my extra catagories or any color)
⭐ If it helps to put the template on Sythana's account, do that
humble request that someone replace the deprecated promo code on the wiki front page with the new one 🙏
I pulled out the Script Template at the wiki, but in the Compatibility field, there are no provisions for Warlock or Avalon.
Could I request those be added, please? Not everyone uses Windows.
I don't understand the request or question.
Miss Xeraphina, this page has a template for placing scripts at the wiki:
https://gswiki.play.net/Template:Script
I would like the compatibility field to include Avalon and Warlock, in addition to Wraythe and Wizard.
I suppose Warlock is a third party FE for Macs, and may not qualify, but Avalon certainly should be listed, right?
Okay, I've never actually seen this template (as in, gone in depth on it aside from category adding) and never heard about it until now. I can add it to my list or a more enterprising player can handle it, but it's not something I would be handling immediately, otherwise.
Whenever. It is not critical, it would just be nice for players who are looking for a script.
Alternately, you can put the request onto the Discussion/TALK page, as opposed to here, which will make it a more official request and "permanize it" (as opposed to scrolling off here).
Oh, I don't Wiki Discussion/TALK at all. That is the scariest thing I have ever seen on a wiki.
(and there's lots of scary things on a wiki!) Chuckle away. Not touching it.
It's actually probably the easiest thing. You know how to create a regular article? It works the same way... but since it's meant to facilitate discussion between editors and/or moderators, you use it.
As long as you follow policy in their use, they're complete fine. You also just need to use ~~~~ to sign the request.
It would be this one here.
Happy to help if its within my skill level
The old promo code is still on the front page of gswiki. Please remove it and replace with GSBACKHOME25.
Ah, no wonder that promo didn't work when I tried.
I do not typically handle the front page and I've bubbled that along with a question I had about it up to be looked at by those who do.
As an additional update and fix to the verb stuff:
I moved the "introduction" parameter to the verbinfo template. This is primarily due to how forms work. It was causing some wonkiness if going onto the firm to edit where that "section" was bouncing around.
I also added a parameter to the verbinfo template to mark a verb as deprecated or not. There are several on the wiki that exist, and in lieu of deleting them, we'll mark them as such. This will also allow us to exclude them from autopopulating query search/ lists.
The form has been updated to reflect this change, as well.
Update # Who knows now...
I've started transitioning the List of verbs page from its old format to query tables which means they should auto pupulate now with new verbs as long as the new verb is added. HOWEVER:
- Some verbs may be on the wiki and not gen in this table due to:
- Verb deprecation! Meaning the verb fell out of use due to advancing systems, but may still have stuff.
- They are basically the same function as another verb, ex. PUT is actually DROP.
So you may see these verbs in the verb category, but not listed in the List of verbs wiki page, which is intentional, as they provide no actual function otherwise.
In any case, the new tables make use of the verb template properties and offer a quick glimpse at type, system, demeanor, wedding, citizen, race, culture, and profession. As in, all it does is show if they do or don't.
Could we update that someday? So many things have been misplaced over the years because of it.
I don't understand your question.
The Put/Drop
Again, I don't understand your question.
Lol…make put and drop two separate verbs. So we stop dropping things by accident.
We have nomarkeddrop and saferdrop flags to help with that
It's unlikely to be changed at the game level as there'd be like 25,000 scripts to update
Okay, so that is likely a question best asked and addressed elsewhere. Vanah answered that. What I'm specifically working on is updating and streamlining the verbs on the wiki. Not the verbs themselves.
Ahh, thank you.
Sorry. Thank you. 💚
Anyone know why I can't get in game? Is the game down?
First Tuesday of the month is planned maintenance
Ah.... thanks
Why does the GS wiki not respect table width settings?

I'm trying to shrink the middle column so the left column is readable.
How can I make someone’s name in my story on the gswiki into a link to their info page?
your entry name
So do I say best friend Fumbl (Fumbl_prime gswiki site)
You can look at other peoples source too for examples, but be careful to cut or edit
Oh, so their site becomes their name?
Okay, thanks! So do I need to make Fumbl_prime into a redirect so that it can just be his name? If so, how can I (or he) do that?
Also how can I communicate with someone that I have not seen in game since I met them and their name doesn’t light up here? If it helps, he, Keirwyn, has a wiki page with me mentioned in it
That player has to create their own page for it to exist and direct at it, we can't do that for them
So how do I make my page into a redirect? I’d like my mentioned name to be Sythana, not Sythana_prime
try this: Fumbl I may have it backward
it'd be Fubml, but yes that would work!
This is correct 🙂 Do it Shan's way above
It's even possible to do something like:
My best friend, Fumbl
... and it'll have My best friend, Fumbl as the linked text.
I recommend doing it Dissonance's way, but if you have other pages you're linking to, that knowledge can help.
Don't forget the parentheses around (prime) after the character name for your link, as they are just as important as the underscore/space.
Yeah, have to use the actual page name.
If you need some examples, feel free to take a look at the code on my page, especially the last paragraph of my Religious Journey section
Just popping in to say that internal links on the wiki don't require underscores! exits again
Okay, thanks everyone 😁
Also how can I communicate with someone that I have not seen in game since I met them and their name doesn’t light up here? If it helps, he, Keirwyn, has a wiki page with me mentioned in it
You could send MAIL in-game
go to a post office, buy a parchment, quill, envelope, stamps, and go to town!
Okay, popping in here, again!
After some discussion, the wiki team is bringing back the Gswiki:Requests page for players to add requests FOR THE WIKI to the wiki. The updated page hosts the instructions and a transcluded list of open requests that can be added via the Requests Talk Page.
The talk page is linked in the instruction page to the "Add topic" version, which will allow requestors to name their "Section" on the talk page to make it easier to add and sort through.
So encourage this method as opposed to discord? Discord scrolls very easily. Also, some requests made on discord are better made to moderators and:
- The moderators don't patrol discord for requests.
- This also allows people who deal with the wiki and don't pay attention to discord to find and complete the requests if they want to and are able to.
- We can easily manage cleanup on the requests this way because again, easier than on discord.
This is only for the wiki requests, not requests for elsewhere.
How do I find a house in Cysaegir? I’m a citizen there, but I don’t know how to find a house to buy
Before I answer, please note that this forum should be for GSWiki-related questions only. For town specific ones, we have individual channels, and you can find the Cysaegir one here: https://ptb.discord.com/channels/226045346399256576/928780797899595896
As far as housing goes, however, if you are looking for a premium home, Cysaegir does not have a premium home "neighborhood," which is what would be required to purchase a home on your own.
Private properties do offer housing in Cysaegir, however those are incredibly rare and only released for sale during special events at this time, as far as I know. It is not a continuously offered thing.
Ahh, sorry about wrong channel. So I understand that there’s no housing in Cysaegir, not usually anyway
That's correct.
Okay, where do I find housing in general? And can I be a partial citizen to get partial citizenship somewhere else and get housing there?
So the only towns that offer partial citizenship are Ta'Vaalor, Ta'Illistim, and Zul Logoth. That doesn't mean, however, that you can have citizenship in multiple places, it just means you are not a full citizen there. https://gswiki.play.net/Citizenship
Beyond that, you would need to ask in those town's channels.
Okay, thanks a ton 😁
https://gswiki.play.net/index.php?title=Gswiki%3ARequests&type=revision&diff=247414&oldid=247356
Thanks for making it clear that Requests are specific to the GSWIKI and not generalized requests.
Good morning, why does the wiki look odd this morning? Like its in edit mode or something?? Maybe its my browser....
The wiki is having some issues. It's not just you. We're aware of its current struggle bus.
https://tenor.com/view/protogen-omg-ram-ram-excited-proto-gif-22034497
Seems 4GB is all that Chrome will allow a page to use. TIL
The wiki issues should be mostly resolved now.
Oh, goodie! Just in time!!!
Sad face on Save. The Wiki did not get the memo it is fine again.
😬 Maybe a routing issue? I'm able to get to it fine.
I can get to it, I just cannot save.
It even happily started a new page for me with the clean input box. So I know I'm not cached.
What page were you trying to work on?
I started a new one that time. Earlier, it was throwing a 403 for an edit on the Quick Index for EG 2025.
(at least it is being consistent???) 🙁
Okay... I tested a new page + save myself like 3 minutes ago and had no issues.
Do you have a user user account, or just the admin one?
That wouldn't make a difference in this case.
It's literally the same steps you would take for a page.
Pretty sure there's nothing I can do about a 403 from here. 🙁
Also, same. The only thing I can suggest is clearing your browser cache.
I get the same 403 in a different browser. I forget if I made any wiki edits yesterday, but I certainly did recently this week.
Pretty sure I have not irritated anyone enough to blacklist me. You know, pretty ... sure.
Let me find someone to make this page for me. It's the Buyer's Choice!
I'm also getting that error for my Darrgo wiki page
I let higher ups know, but it could be a routing issue at this point. Beyond that, I'm afraid I don't know what to tell you.
I will publish the shopping guide at our web site in the meanwhile.
Re: https://gswiki.play.net/Verb:QUEST
quest death section -->
It is just as possible to "walk" on a quest if you have few or no deeds as it is if you die outside of a quest,
Aint gots no clue wotta "walk" is... could sumbody essplain dat jargon? Usin' no jargon?
(also...no baseball please)
Just a head's up, I also had the 403 error when trying to save an edit this morning. I just closed and restarted my browser and that fixed it.
If that's all it takes, that'll be great.
Maybe that's why I haven't been having issues... my PC has had several restarts this week against my wishes.
I may have spoke too soon. I'm getting that 403 error again, and even a full reboot/cache clear doesn't necessarily resolve it. It might be related to an issue somewhere else in the internet pipeline, that I haven't figured out yet.
Poop. I will bubble it up again.
yeah, i've tried restarting.. using a different browser... clearing everything possible, and still the same for me as well.. i think it worked for a few this morning before reverting back
I had error 500 several times this morning. Working now though, or was a little bit ago
Bah... either got banned fer tryin to help, or dat page is lock'd! (edit: wassa 403 like Miss Luxie got but I hadn't noticed her conundrum!) Here's a cut/paste worthy edit excised FOR clarity. Doin udder folks work:
Deaths and Treasure:
Quests have dangers in them above and beyond the normal dangers of adventuring, therefore, all quests are at your own risk. Death is quite possible. Since quests are out of the ordinary, you probably should bring more deeds than you normally would feel comfortable with in day-to-day life. You may die and/or lose items during a quest. Do not bring anything with you on a quest that you are not willing to lose (Including yourself!). GameMasters are not required to replace items, experience, deeds, etc. that are lost due to a quest.
Death woulda link'd to da Death's Sting page... deeds woulda done likewise to da Deed page!
Is anyone still getting 403 errors? I was able to do some edits this morning with no issues.
I ran into one yesterday when trying to undo and redo an edit, I will let you know if it recurs
I tried doing some edits today and, while some timed out, all my saves went through. No 403 errors today when I was getting them on the regular yesterday.
I was able to cut paste onna da page dat caught my eye! But yikes, a big chunk is now inna fore character wide column! Heh... me anna my big mouth... figgerin out how to fix dat next!
I had bouncy eyeballs! Fix'd... I think.
a question since I dont want to mess up it up and rather be safe than sorry. (I'm assuming this is the right spot to ask)
So.... I got my portrait done (Yay though not it's not in game yet). So my question is, how exactly do I give the credit or whatever when I update my profile on the wiki for Falvicar since I intend to upload the new image.
For example: With my own artwork I have the "Ai art generated by the player of Falvicar using ChatGPT / Permission granted for use by Artist Falvicar (https://gswiki.play.net/Falvicar_(prime))
So... do I do this like this..? Art created by Stillfont. Permission Grabed for use by Stillfont? Or what? Just wanting to be safe. Thank you in advance.
We actually updated policy to account for Simu produced artwork, including character portraits: https://gswiki.play.net/Gswiki:Policy#Official_Artwork
The short answer is: because Simu/Stillfront created the artwork, and it is being posted to the wiki, which is owned by Simutronics, nothing further than the upload is required.
oof. 403 error still going on btw so can't upload it yet 🙁
still getting it. even with another browser and no extensions turned on and cleaned up cache / history / cookies etc
We are aware of the issue and we've bubbled it up for people to look into.
Is there any way to get a dump of the wiki? I’d love to have a local copy if possible
As far as I know, not in any way that isn't super labor intensive for you, and it would be out of date pretty quickly. You'd basically have to run your own local server of mediawiki, export page by page and import page by page.
We have 35,000 pages so that doesn't really seem like a good option.
I tried to slow crawl it once (as to not create any significant server strain)... Even with pretty good rules and significant time.... I got about 17k pages and it wasn't great.
I have made my first wiki edits today. I am honored to be among such giants.
Why
People are asking me to update property things and suddenly there's a new rule about it?
How do I unregister my registered item?
You can't. But if you sell it, the new person can register it to themselves.
Has there been an update on the 403 issue?
As I mentioned before, we did bubble it up. The issue is that it isn't consistent and some people may have issues while others have none. The best we can suggest is to try again. I see multiple uploads since the the beginning of october, including one yesterday and two on the 31st.
Thank you for the update 🙏
I have a symbol of proselyte. I went to the spire in Zul to make an item for my huntress for others. There are no mid god obelisks in the spire, so I can’t make anything for my huntress. Is there a solution or something that I don’t understand?
This is likely not the best forum to ask that. Your best bet to get an answer is probably going to be #help or #clerics
Okay, thanks
with all due respect, i'm still trying to upload my portrait and i still get the 403 error despite what times I attempt. is there some specific time that the multiple uploads are happening? i'm curious to know their browsers and the time of day and the day of week they are doing it if they are that successful. it's frustrating to still not be "lucky enough" to upload it. i've tried just about every trick in the book i can think of (and yes, i am very tech savvy). in case curious, Chrome is my goto, though I tried Edge. yes, deleted the temp files etc, and disabled addons, clean reboot etc. win 10 pro.
even right now at this random hour, i still get the 403 error.
Haven't been following this too closely, but if it's a regional internet issue perhaps a VPN would get around it if you have that option.
As someone who uses a VPN regularly, I have intermittant 403 errors. I have not been able to narrow it down to which regions cause it, but given that I connect to a random US state, it seems like that randomness roughly coincides with me getting 403 errors.
Correlation does not necessarily mean causation in this instance, of course.
if the below helps. other potential fixes: https://go.aws/4jK3qmk / https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/cloudfront-error-request-blocked
good hint.
few days ago i started getting the 403 error again, but only when i try to upload a picture.. anyone else know a work around with this on wiki? (also tried just the uploading picture link too, not just on my page and it still gave the same error)
The only thing that has reportedly worked for folks is a vpn connection that uses an alternative path to the server. If the disconnect is closer to the remote server than you, that solution has less chance to succeed.
i'm still getting it too for whatever that's worth. still trying but unsuccessful thus far. hoping it gets fixed
We made the higher ups aware of the issues the other day and it's been getting looked into. Again, don't know if it's regional or not, since it's not consistent and not happening to everyone.
I appreciate it!
Trying to upload a picture
been going on since at least Oct. they are awre of it though and workign to fix it. I'm still getting it and i only want to put my simucon portrait up for my profile
Thank you
Can someone with GSWiki homepage edit rights update the promo code from GSBACKAFTER6 to the proper GSBACKHOME25 code? Thanks.
don't forget to update the text about it being for BASIC subscription (not premium)
fresh clean win11 pro install, and still getting 403 (just giving info in case it helps)
fyi: I just managed to upload my 2025 simucon portrait up successfully. not sure if it was dumb luck or if it's actually fixed now but I'm happy. I believe I did it correctly when I uploaded it and did the edit on my paladin's wiki profile.
The portrait looks good! I love the attack hedgy lol.
you should put your old one on the page as well!
it's there
hmm, i don't see it. i just see the new one and the ai generated ones. but maybe a problem on my end
scroll down a li on the wiki site
Hi, If we find random private properties in the wild, are we allows to add the location to this page even if we don't know the owner - or is even that a verboten edit?
https://gswiki.play.net/Private_property/List
I don't see why you couldn't add to this.
Adding the property by itself without owner information or excessive details is fine for non-owners to handle.
Thank you, the page header left me a bit cautious and confused.
always approach wiki pages with necessary caution, as to not startle them and cause a stampede.
.... the page says only certain people can edit it. my question was valid. I'm not sure why you're poking fun at it.
That was added without explanation. It would be nice to know why it was added after all this time.
Sometime joke lands, sometime not so much. Number game, always be joking.
is u# the room id number? or is that a reference to something else
oh ok - I found it. u# is a referring to the lich go2 script, but is using the actual "SimuID".
We made the internal room numbers player facing. I don't recall what u stands for but it's the internal room number vs the lich room number
You can toggle it on to see it using....a flag that would be toward the bottom of the list
I've got the Room ID flagged on- I'm more curious as what the labeling convention is for rooms.
For instance on https://gswiki.play.net/Fishing#Locations
A few examples of how people are going about it:
(Lich #10888)(u106005/22109)Aquamarine Street, River's Edge - 1985] (u3002004)(ROOMID 2190036)
Is there a system involved to kinda codify how we're labeling room locations?
I prefer the third one, with the room name and both numbers. That should just be the room name line copy and pasted so it's easiest, too
Caveat that I don't use lich so would just have the u number but without the u if I was editing it
ok- I agree, copy & paste, though it would look more like [Town Square Central] (7120) - that's how it appears in wrayth anyway... not sure if it is different for different front ends- do you know?
For instance, I'm about to add the spot in Moonshine Manor, and it would look like [Moonshine Manor, Garden Pond] (18006005) - I don't use Lich either.
I've got my RoomID flag set on, and that's how the room title shows up.
I'm afraid that with the above example, Aquamarine Street, River's Edge - 1985] (u3002004) people would interpret my information as [Moonshine Manor, Garden Pond] (u18006005) when 18006005 refers to the actual RoomID.
Or am I misunderstanding Aquamarine Street, River's Edge - 1985] (u3002004) because when I see 1985 I'm thinking RoomID when that's not what that number is?
1985 there is the Lich number. The uID is the RoomID
ah, gotcha. Is that how it shows up on your front-end if you're using Lich?
As the u is specific to lich, I don't use it when i do things on the wiki involving room listings. If players want to, that's fine, but it's unofficial and non-lich users will not use or see the u, and i try to tailor things there.
ok cool- yah I'll just follow Vanah's advice and copy & paste from the room description as I see it with RoomID on and not worry too much about Lich.
Thanks all 🙂
Usage of u#### stems from normal techy usage of UID and GUID terms. Which stands for unique identifier. Since Room ID#s are unique and the same across game instances, on the techy side of things it was chosen to reference them as UIDs because it serves the same function. It's a unique identifier for the rooms in question. That and most all Lich users are already of the convention mindset that a ##### is a lich number. So converting to try and useL##### would be a losing battle. Easier to just reference the now exposed Room ID#s differently. And since r##### could be confused as just a generic room number designation, u##### is used across lich to reference UID/Simu Room IDs instead.
As for the wiki. If there's a way to designate it as a Room ID vs a Lich ID, that is good enough (like a headers on a table output if you have a column for one and a column for the other, that way if for some reason it's a short RoomID/UID. Like RoomID/UID 3040 is WL east tower, but if you didn't know it was one, I could easily see a Lich user seeing such a short number and trying to use that not knowing. Lich 3040 though is the [Northern Fortress, Entry Hall] in Icemule Trace. So they could accidentally start rushing off to IMT in error.
(Yes, I have tried as much as possible to set things up to allow it to designated separately)
Unfortunately, the wiki is down slow again.
Started during the WL RP at midnight/1am ET I saw
I want to add a 'fish of elanthia' page to the wiki.
The general idea would be cataloging every fish using a table with various fields relevant to where/how/when it was caught.
Is there any similar page I could use as a template that anyone could point me towards?
thanks 🙂
I like that list, I like that it's sortable by column, I like the prettytable
started making it:
https://gswiki.play.net/List_of_fish probably needs some kind of 'variation' column in order to reduce redundancy so as to rather have a color + fish-type it's more just fish-type and then a list of variations (purple, elongated, bloated, etc.).
The only trouble is that some of the ones that have different adjectives have a fairly different description as a result.
Any feedback would be great 🙂
If anyone is feeling froggy I'm looking to convert most of the Phoenix website over to the Wiki around the Council of Light (CoL) details in particular, but it's I.C.E era or referenced stuff in general as well so special banners on some of it are needed and general presentation.
How would one get their wiki username changed from account name to a character name? Not happy that my account name is there for all to see. Not sure if removing my edits will even remove that.
I'm not sure you can...
Yeah, that is one big negative oversight of the wiki in my opinion. Even if you got the billing office to change your username to something else, I'm not sure it will back update all your old edits to the new one. Maybe it would?
Depends on if they actually update the mediawiki database or if you just end up with a new mediawiki account tied to the changed name

Probably worth a GM look on https://gswiki.play.net/Premium_subscription for subscription wording. The details are Premium, but Premium Sub and Plat sub don't correlate on wording that way entirely on the website or actual subscription until you purchase it as Platinum. I can see it, but I can't really differentiate it by moving it to Platinum because that also isn't the subscription wording in some formats.
This is something you can probably add to the GSWiki Requests page as that is something anyone can edit/update. Putting it on the requests page can make it more prominent and not scroll off like it would be here.
i think the wiki about professional resources needs to be updated -- "Once a character meets the prerequisites for their service, they will begin to accumulate resource points whenever they absorb experience via an experience pulse (or via offline absorption), at a 1:1 rate." https://gswiki.play.net/Profession_service
Good news, it's a wiki, have at it! 🙂
I’ve been yelled at before for updating official pages so I have some trepidation to do it now. The last time, I pasted something posted by one GM, and another said I was “spreading misinformation”
I'm sure an accurate edit of the current state wouldn't get you in any trouble. I don't remember what exactly it is...85/pulse that absorbs at least X exp I think, but I don't remember what X is.
you can also put it on the requests page, that's listed two comments above
Shoutout to GSKebechet for all the wiki work.
I'm taking up the request for the Wehnimer's Landing Politics doc to update the NPC mayors. I also could use some help naming the Council of Light Storyline from the 2000s or I'll just go with my gut
There once was a code snippet we could add to a wikimedia URL that would automagically expand all collapsed wiki content on the page. Anyone happen to remember what that is? What I had no longer works.
Fixed... Solution: create bookmark with just this in it, and click that when on the desired page:
javascript:(function(){$('.mw-collapsed').show();})();
I leaned into a lot of connector paths for the World, Geography and frankly art @fickle ermine has done as of late. Any buzz about those areas or focus is something I'm thinking about. I really liked how Vishra presented Mirthbrand in Discord.
Is there a way for the wiki to require comments on edits? They seem to be missing a lot of the time and understanding what/why something was changed is difficult.
You can compare the edits to see what changed.
Yes, and sometimes it's self explanatory, but other times not so much.
seems to be self resolved. had my younger brother login and do it and it shows
Attack Hedgy!
...could someone please take a look at this page and...uh. Make it usable? My wiki fu isn't up to the task.
https://gswiki.play.net/MoonShard_pendant
That's a wreck, the issue is actually the inclusion of a separate page's section. Specifically the Bloodrune page individual sections
Working with Claude to fix it now though, so bare with me 😄
something about nested tables and how the expand works
That page was find until the wiki update and probably something else broke it. It's on my list to handle in the future, but low priority for me right now.
Additionally, I'll be revisiting some if the item page guidelines to make it easier to set up using page forms (ala verbs and town shops), but some, due to their very nature, will still need to be handled manually. Such as this one, due to the complexity involved
Stupid complex game
I tried... that page is a mess... still looking to see what else can be done
Kill it with fire and start over?
That page should be fixed now. Our moderator is awesome and handled it this morning.
(Spoiler: It was the wiki update a couple years back that broke it.)
Thank you and the moderator super much! And also everyone else that tried!
I can’t hear anyone on discord chat. Is that all discord or is that here?
Could be either. Discord's been randomly muting certain people for certain people for a couple of months now.
might try #help
It would be nice if a system were set up so that at X amount of time after a critter has been released a member of Staff would fill in its description on the wiki.
The same could be said for area maps, though the need to not disclose in-game secrets makes that tricky.
There seems no desire among the current playerbase to do these things, as was done by players for so many years. As a result large swathes of the wiki remain largely blank.
When formatting verbs and game commands use the <prelog2> tag. Typically no additional formatting is needed with that tag. Close with </pre>. ```from the style guide -- is that right? it puts the command on a separate line from everything else
The style guide is in the process of being updated as there are some outdated guidelines there. Log2 should be used for the majority of screen caps from the game. For game commands, you should actually use (verb).
thank you!
If you would like to see this in action, be sure to check out the (updated only) verb pages, as that better reflects the use of that formatting template to keep the commands in line with the rest of the text.
thanks, perfect
https://gswiki.play.net/Template:Main-page-sections - should probably be updated with the new promo codes instead of the retired one
the wiki says that 719 shows up on scrolls (https://gswiki.play.net/Scroll/list_of_eligible_spells), but i don't believe this is the case. can anyone please check whether this is an issue with the wiki, or an issue with scroll drops?
this also appears to be the case for 617 (Sneaking) and 613 (Self Control), i've checked countless scrolls this week and have not found either, pretty sure they aren't appearing, but again the wiki says they should be... could someone please check on this so i know whether to BUG or to update the wiki?
following up, i found 719 on a scroll. it must be quite rare; i asked for days on ESP and read probably hundreds of scrolls in every pawnshop in the WL area, as well as the ones i had stocked up. i'm told 617 and 613 can also appear, but have yet to see for myself. fingers crossed, i guess? cheers!
considring that article was made by a GM, I suspect it is accurate. you can see who made it by clicking on "history" at the top.
i've found two 719 scrolls this morning... now i'm wondering if something changed behind the scenes 🤷♂️
You could probably try asking in #mechanics
also, looking at my past 3 wiki corrections, all three were GM-made pages, so yep, everyone makes mistakes. two were mechanical inaccuracies, as well.
things also change over time, so they may not have been mistakes to begin with.
So I'll just put it out there: I'm not a mechanics person. I'm a "format and make pretty person", which is the point of my role in regards to the wiki. If you see my name in the page history of a strongly mechanical page, it was because I was either formatting it better to make it pretty, or because I was specifically asked to create, format, and make pretty.
While it was a few years ago, I want to say in this case, specificially, I was asked to create, format, and make pretty.
That being said, now I'm thinking about ways to update the spell template for page properties to make it easier to adjust pages such as this if and when changes do occur. (Page properties rock). But that's a future me problem.
I've been dealing with "next guy" problems all last week and today.
Also, Shan is correct in that this question would likely have gotten a more timely response in mechanics as this forum is meant to be more so focused on formatting and "how do I do this on the wiki?". Mechanical questions and the like are likely best asked in their respective channels/forums.
understood, thanks, i'll keep that in mind that this is more formatting than content!
Missin' anna rong/outdated contents still goes here tho eh?
depends, I'd probably still pop it in mechanics or whatever fits best
let the zeitgeist chew on it
Just a quick note that Q - Z verbs on the wiki have been updated to use the template. The list of verbs for these have also been updated to display/output page properties for quick "at-a-glance" on the list page. Pausing for the time being to continue working on, you know... non-wiki-related things.
Something to note, as well, is that if there is a very that is, essentially deprecated, it WILL have a wiki page, and WILL show up in the Verbs category, but it will NOT be listed in the list of verbs. They're only getting a wiki page (if they didn't already have one) because they show up in VERB LIST. Some verbs don't do anything on their own, per se, ie. they exist solely to be used with items, etc, which is one reason for them to have their own page to be linked to anyway.
That being said, there are more than a few system verbs (ie. dealing with mechanics) that could definitely use some additional details for verb use (ie. NOT mechanical details. Those need to go on pages that aren't specifically verbs), like messaging examples.
Anyone is free to update these pages with that information. If you don't know how to format it/what to do with it, the Form:Verb can help with basic formatting breakdown, otherwise, if you can throw it on the page, we can get it formatted as needed.
Thanks!
Quick question. How would one go about adding a category for the wiki? I'd like to create a page for my erithian, but there is no category for "Erithian player characters"
The category exists, but it's empty. Looking at the dwarf player character category. It has a brief summary of the dwarven race and the racial variants in sub categories. So, the answer is to fill in the blurb on the race and subcategories to flesh it out and turn the link blue.
Can we please get a template for mission type quest pages? I would like to copy/paste the info from the quest verb into the page and have a list auto populate on some other page. List of quests? I would like it to have the same info from quest info, like the name, availability, reward, details
We got a category going. Thanks!
